Title: Greg Plitt - RIP - Hit by a train January 17
Post by: Coach is Back! on January 17, 2015, 11:52:10 PM
I've only heard of him from here. Apparently he died.

Fitness expert and reality TV star Greg Plitt was struck and killed by a Metrolink train in Burbank, California, on Saturday. He was 37.
Police confirmed to NBC Los Angeles that Plitt was struck at 4:05 p.m. on the tracks at Front Street, just north of the Burbank Metrolink Station. Sgt. Scott Meadows from the Burbank Police Department told PEOPLE that the death "appears to be an accident."  Greg Plitt, 37, died yesterday afternoon when he was hit by a Metrolink train after witnesses saw him near the tracks with a video camera in his hand. One friend says he was filming an advert for a protein shake at the time.

He knew what is overtraining  ;D

"I train one body part and hit anywhere around 28 to 36 sets per body part, going heavy, with rep ranges between five and 10 and more than a minute’s rest between sets, four sets per exercise, six to eight exercises. I always try to do at least 3 cardio sessions a week, but some weeks do 5. Swimming is my cardio of choice as it builds muscle endurance and helps stretch your muscles unlike running, biking, stair master, etc.

Day 1: Chest

Flat Dumbbell Press: 4 sets,8-10 reps
Incline Dumbbell Press: 4 sets 8-10 reps
Flat Dumbbell Fly: 4 sets, 8-10 reps
Incline Dumbbell Fly: 4 sets, 8-10 reps
    Dips: 3 sets, 15-20 reps
    Pushup: 3 sets, 15-20 reps

Day 2: Back

Wide grip pull ups: 4 sets, 6-8 reps
    Close-Grip Pull Down: 4 sets, 6-8 reps
Rowing with Cable: 4 sets, 6-8 reps

Day 3: Shoulders

Military Press: 4 sets, 6-8 reps
Dumbbell Side: 4 sets:  6-8 reps
Back to Mancuera: 4 sets, 6-8 reps

Day 4: Biceps and Triceps

Barbell Biceps: 4 sets, 6-8 reps
Dumbbell Biceps on incline bench: 4 sets, 6-8 reps
Dumbbell Preacher: 4 sets, of 6-8 reps
Lying Triceps Extensions: 3 sets, 8-10 reps
    Cable Triceps Pull-down: 3 sets, 8-10 reps

Day 5: Legs

    Squats: 4 sets, 6-8 reps
Dead lift with firm legs: 4 sets, 6-8 reps
Hamstring in Machine: 3 sets, 6-8 reps
Leg Extensions: 4 sets, 6-8 reps

Day 6: Repeat"

Interesting. I was under the impression he was at a modeling shoot.

"Plitt was pronounced dead at the scene, said Burbank police Sgt. Scott Meadows, who said the fatality "was not clearly a suicide" and remained under active investigation."

Difference between "clearly not a suicide" and what was said here: "was not clearly a suicide"

The guy seemed to have it all.

Wow this is pretty crazy. How come he didnt hear the train coming ?

If it was anything like the train accidents you see on sites like Liveleak,  the noise from a train travelling in one direction drowned out the noise of the unseen one coming from the other direction.   The noise of the first train also drowns out the screams of your friends warning you to move.

Pick the joke:

1. Trained until failure

2, Peace train of peace

3. Not what I meant by let's pull a train

4. Was there a white towel on the tracks?

5. Maybe he thought the train would swerve

6. Shizzo is a fat, lazy, drunken onion head who smells like marboros, cheap vodka and his cousins underwear.

From what has been posted on other boards, and by witnesses, he and a few others were filming something by the tracks, and he was monkeying with the camera, and either tripped into or wasn't fast enough to avoid the train. Some mentioned that he liked to film parts of his training videos along those tracks.

the level of irresponsibility shown seems to be mind-boggling?

and entire commercial production filming crew, with a blind man, on train tracks, and he manages to get hit by the train?

seems like the level of safeguards in place would be very high.  Maybe they were being edgy and trying to film him *close* to it as it moved by, and a piece of it clipped him?

it's all just speculation on our part at this point.  Either way, very sad!

the news even made it into the brit papers.

Plitt acted alongside Robert DeNiro and Matt Damon in The Good Shepherd, and Terminator 4 with Christian Bale

Greg Plitt, a former model, actor and renowned fitness instructor, has died after being struck by a train in Burbank.

Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Transit Services Bureau said that he was struck by a Metrolink train at 4.10pm on Front Street, north of the Metrolink station.

Plitt, 37, recently starred in the Bravo show ‘Work Out’. It was reported by KABC that the former Calvin Klein model was with some friends who may have been filming at the time.

“He had on all black. The train went by. I saw him stumble over the tracks. He had a camcorder in his hand,” a Metrolink passenger told the local TV station.

Plitt appeared in a number of films. He acted alongside Robert DeNiro and Matt Damon in The Good Shepherd, and Terminator 4 with Christian Bale. He was also a body double in superhero film Watchmen.

The incident is currently under investigation.

Sure sounds like a suicide. So many people think a guy like that is rich. He could have been broke. Many of those magazine covers for bodybuilding and fitness are done for free for the publicity. If he was actually filming something on an active track of a high speed train that is really nuts.

Tried to pull a "cool" shot with a handy cam, while train passing by/standing very close to it, tripped and fell under it? Certainly possible. very unfortunate, but not surprising.

I'm going to Echo this. They said he tripped. What flinging crew would let a guy get within a foot or two of a moving train. He probably fell backwards and got his head or body cut in half

Are you claiming he was Plitt in two?

the news even made it into the brit papers.

That surprised me too, he had minor roles in a decent number of shows and movies. Usually an extra, or something like doorman, fitness trainer, boyfriend, etc.... Best year seems like 2007 - 2008, where he had a soap opera role, and a role as a carpenter on a reality show.

When I watch his motivational speeches it kind of reminds of Tom Platz. At first the intensity is inspiring and you're like, "Fuck yeah!" Then you keep watching. The yelling, the gestures, the music and I start to get a bit uncomfortable. A little queasy. I fidget nervously.

What are we talking about now? Winning an Olympic Gold medal? A stealth assault on the Bin Laden compound? Winning the Super Bowl? Some life or death mission?

No, we are talking about guys and girls that want to look hot on the beach. To be able to take before and after selfies to try to make those that dumped you or didn't even bother with you jealous. He's talking about people who want to admire themselves in the mirror and show off to others. All this do or die lectures.

I mean, really? Really?

News camera person filming closer to where the accident was (where some flowers have been put) (Courtesy of LT)

This area has double tracks, of both which are used daily.  It is possible that they didn't realize until it was too late which track the train was coming on and he fell when they are videotaping?

Channel 5 out here showed some still of the crew filming on the tracks, and afterwards.

Burbank police said a preliminary investigation “revealed Mr. Plitt was accompanied by two other men, one of whom was filming Mr. Plitt on the train tracks. The conductor of the southbound train saw Mr. Plitt on the tracks, attempted to stop the train, and sounded the train’s horn. However, Mr. Plitt remained on the train tracks and was struck by the train. Investigators seized the camera as evidence.” (From Deadline.com)

Bravo's Greg Plitt Had $800K in the Bank ... But No Will

Bravo's fitness star Greg Plitt -- who was hit and killed by a commuter train -- did not have a will, and now his family is trying to ensure his $800,000 estate ends up in the right hands.

As TMZ first reported ... Plitt died tragically in January while shooting a commercial for a sports drink.

The 37-year-old did not have a spouse or child when he died -- and according to court docs obtained by TMZ ... his father filed a petition Wednesday to control his son's estate.

If approved -- which is extremely likely -- he'll make all decisions about paying Greg's creditors ... and how the remaining money gets divvied up.

Did he have brothers, sisters, nieces and nephews etc? If so, when you don't have a living will with no kids, his estate will be divided up down the line. Happens with really rich dudes all the time when they don't have a will. 3rd cousins come out of the wood work and shit. Odd that an Army Ranger with a modest estate wouldn't have a living WILL...Seems like a very basic thing to have...Now he's going to have relatives jump thru hoops and fight with each other other his estate.

I found out through some of my contacts that this is 100% truth.

He tried to do some daredevil type shit to impress and tripped and BOOM!

Guess he believed in his own hype and died in the absolute stupidest way.

A complete tool unto death.

Amen.

What's a daredevil stunt?

West Point, Army Ranger -- this was one exceptionally human being. How did he end up in the fitness and modeling industry?

My classmates are in all walks of life (and some no longer with us).  Way back when I attended the gym was amazing and fitness was part of  life. He likely saw an opportunity and didn't want to sit in an office.
