With the exception of a sip of beer when I was maybe about 8 years old, I've gone nearly 55 years without any alcohol. Nothing against it really. Everything in moderation is fine generally speaking. I just never cared for the taste of any liquor. So no claims of moral superiority or discipline. It just was never my thing.
Now pizza, ice cream and brownies... that's where I both flag and fail.

Someone here said you are mentally strong. Really? Well, lets see it. All of us have to do things that we may not want to do. None of us always wants to go to the the gym all the time. But we grind through it. This is how we grow mentally strong. Over coming our weaker desires.
It's an hour, hour and a half, out of your day. Do it. No excuses. Forget for a moment the kale, electricity, food capacitors and time travel. Just forget it for an hour and get out there in the real world and move that genetically gifted body you were blessed with.
Stop wasting yourself.

Milk Thistle will help your liver recover. Give it a try. Another good cleansing vegetable is fresh lemon juice. I like it in hot water, but cold water is just as good.

Don't hang one thing on the other. If you are drinking too much, cut back. If you are not working out enough, work out more. Don't set yourself up for a double fail.

Yes it has. I remember those times when you thought you were having a heart attack.
There is nothing good in dwelling on death. It's negative thinking like this that brings people down. Instead of worrying about dying, spend that energy figuring out how to enjoy life more.
Someday you and I and everyone else is going to die. We cannot escape it. Many people are living longer than ever before. Only those who completely ignore all the concepts of being relatively healthy are dying young. There is nothing to be gained by worrying about dying. It will happen when it does. This from an old man who is probably a heck of a lot closer to dying then you are. If I can be this optimistic, what the fuck is your problem. You are still a young man.

I used to have 1-4 drinks a week. a glass or 2 of wine at gigs, maybe a shot now and then. (i'm a total lightweight)
Since I've stopped completely, I feel terrific. the shit really is toxic. Don't you get the same positive effects of red wine by eating grapes?
everything just feels better. I miss having that super relaxed feeling, but yeah... I think I'll give up all alcohol until President-elect Trump accepts the concession call from Hilary on November 8th. (bwahaha)

For a loooong time (35 years) we would party, rip it up every FRI and SAT day/night, now I stay in and drink coffee at night. and still fall asleep at 8PM during the week, 9PM on weekend nights, love it and feel fantastic these days... Like Funk says about drinking "There's no future in it"...

Best thing you can do is get on some Test. That will make you want to hit the steel more often. Just don't go crazy with it. 250mgs/wk for the rest of your life and don't look back. You'll hit the weights more often and before you know it, you'll be drinking once a week. Once a week is fine.

You used to and still work out at home, right?
Working out at home is the devil. It is so much easier to have a gym you go to work out. From my experiments, I would say that working out at home is not for many people. Not even for people who are otherwise pretty damn consistent at training. The separation between home and gym is constructive.
It is far easier to evolve when you're forced to be around other people who are evolving around you. As long as you hide away at home with your crappy weight setup, you'll maintain mediocrity. You clearly do not have what it takes to be someone who trains at home. Go join and gym and compete with society.
And I speak from experience.
