Gregg should just kill himself!! srs
-
How can expect people to believe he is authentic Italian if in that whole 10 minute rant he didn't grab his balls once? Capisce?
-
Damn it's hard to listen to him talk. Anyway I believe what he said about the synthol, people who use that have to inject it like every day, he's not giving himself like 20 shots a day of that shit for all these years
-
Should join Piana and his crew.

Gregg & I were hanging out at Piana's booth at the Arnold and it was the place to be. And I agree that Gregg and Piana are a great match.

Having seen what most their loser fans look like, it was the place to be if you wanted to be surrounded by a bunch of dipshits. They don't even make eye contact, just a lame ass handshake, pound, take a selfie then fuck off. Wow, very up close and personal, how significant that "moment" must have been and how forgettable of a moment.
Is this how fans show their "love" now? Pathetic. The lack of eye contact with this generation while greeting or even talking is weak. Very weak.

This guy is the biggest liar going. He claims a "bat" caused a hematoma? No, repeated injecting into one's arms nicking a blood vessel causes hematomas. MuscleMag ran a photo of this douchebag and he had bandaids on his one tricep. He had so much oil packed into those muscles that he needed a bigger gauge needle like 20 or 18 to keep injecting the type of volume he was.
Hematoma caused by nicking blood vessel...not bat.
STAY POSITIVE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1

i bet that fucker smells

he's actually a very entertaing guy, synthol or not, I don't know. But he had a good physique back in the day. And can't blame him for not promoting himself.

He probably has to rub deodorant where his forearm meets his bicep because of the sweat issue plus the lint build up.

He had an average gym rat's physique. Hell, those guys who do bar work had better phyisques. He claimed to have a 21 inch arm, I think he said before steroids.
The dude is a mental case who wants attentions. He gets off on being around real bodybuilders because he could never hack it to actually get to that level.

If he is admitting that he did site injections with juice, then why is that such a stretch? It's basically the same shit as shooting synthol, except that synthol doesn't have any AAS in it.
Gregg isn't trying to say he never injected into his arms, but rather just clarifying what the substances were or weren't.

You should face a firing squad for allowing him to push such bullshit...

Valentino is full of shit.

Exactly, GV is a funny, cool, entraining dude, but he loses me, when talking of his arms.
The fact is the man injected God knows what crap into his arms until they sprung a leak.
His video starts with some saying about haters being jealous...really?
I like GV, the man, and he started with a decent physique many years ago.
BUT, no serious competitive bodybuilder would be jealous of his absurd looking body after he injected all that crap into his guns.
Give GV credit as he rode that ramblin' freak persona to become a minor celeb in the world of hardcore bodybuilding.
Had he not gone to extremes nobody would know him now or care what he says.
He'd have ended up like me, some over 50 douche , who used to compete and won a Mr Podunk back in the day...no big deal, nobody cares.
Make no mistake, I'm grateful I got an education , stable career and finally got the ideal wife .
BUT, I never was anything unique or special in bodybuilding. Love him or hate him, GV went for it. He did some crazy, insane stuff that blew his arms to absurd looking proportions. For whatever reason, he tapped into something within the hardcore crowd with his Ramblin' Freak personality.
I sincerely wish GV a happy and healthy life.

Gregg helped bring bbing down a couple hundred notches. Whatever credibility it may have had, he helped lose it.
It's always the ones that want attention, who have no talent, that wind up doing the outrageous just to get the attention.

So are you saying that shooting test into your arms would not have the same effect as synthol?
Are you saying that synthol and test would have the same effect if shot into your arms?
-

Both synthol & oil-based AAS will stretch the fascia and stay in the area for days. The hormone gets absorbed quicker (with a faster acting esther, much quicker), but the oil will remain, albeit only for a few days. Synthol (with it's MCT base) will remain slightly longer than sesame seed or grape seed oil (commonly used in test), but you have to do it over and over on a regular basis either way.
The first batch of what is commonly known as synthol actually contained AAS and a guy by the name of Trevor Smith has been recognized as the go-to guy for info on synthol and site injections. Here is a cut and paste from an interview that he did in 2000:
AE: Many bodybuilders are under the belief that localized injections of steroids will produce the same affect as a site enhancement oil. What are your feelings on this?
Trevor: This is absolutely true. Obviously only with oil based products though. I mean, it isn’t going to be bad to site inject say winstrol , in fact there is some indication as it might actually have localized effects on muscle growth along with systemic effects. But you are not going to get the tissue spreading and lifting effect that you will get with the oils.
To me, the smart bodybuilder uses only the calves, biceps, triceps, or delts when injecting their gear. Why bother shooting into your ass, unless you are looking to have an ass the size of a ****ing Rhino, which without naming names one freaky east coast amateur’s ass actually looks like….a ****ing Rhino’s! I was watching the 1998 USA’s and couldn’t believe what I was looking at when this guy turned around. Sure it was shredded to the bone, but his ass looked like Ronnie Coleman’s and Marcus Ruhl’s put together. What good is weighing 270-280lbs. on stage if 20 of it is in your ass, right?
The only thing one needs to understand is that you cannot and should not be injecting 5ml of gear into various body parts every day. You will get the same lifting action from putting 3ml of oil-based cypionate as you would putting 3ml of Site Enhancement Oil Plus. However, the sesame seed oil in the cypionate will get metabolized faster than the Site Enhancement Oil Plus, which contains more than just oil.
-
having done synthol and gear, would say it would take many more pokes of gear to get the same results. Won't say it's impossible, but would be a hell of a task to do.
If that's the case, say it's true, why don't all pro's do this, why do we see weak points? They use enough gear to validate this theory to fill in any weak muscle, yet chose not to.
That is my brological explanations to say that no, it does not work and you can't look the way Valentino did using just gear. Would need to know exact number of cc's he did, over how much time to even perhaps consider that being true.

Valentino is full of shit oil.

Gregg says that he dumped whole bottles (10 cc) of test into his arm all of the time. He never used a 3cc pin without filling it all the way.
Here's the link to that whole thread I gave a piece of above. It has a great interview all about this exact topic:

will check that out, but 10 is not that much per arm when it comes to site enhancement! So 2 bottles or 2gram of prop a day, 14gr week is not seeming very realistic, anyway, will read that before further commenting, think I've read it before...
-
waste of time
-
Greg is a liar. Those arms are not a result of shooting gear or even Synthol oils.

OK. So what is your hypothesis? You can't make an accusation like that and leave it open ended.
-
OK. So what is your hypothesis? You can't make an accusation like that and leave it open ended.
I'm not sure what the hell is going on but even if he was putting 3 whole bottles of gear each day into each arm this would not be the result. Then imagine the weekly steroid dosage he would be on, completely unrealistic. Now what about Synthol? Guys who are doing it do tons of shots over long periods of time just to gain an inch or whatever. The owner of professionalmuscle, who sells the popular Syntherol oil, says Greg has implants, that Synthol simply can't cause this type of expansion.
The Brazilians with those absurd arms use the ADE vitamin oil. Maybe Greg was one of the early experimenters of this stuff? I don't know but I'm quite confident that it's not just gear or even Synthol (MCT oil).

was Gregg an early PMMA user?
-
Our heroes.
-
The thumbs up just makes it so damn funny. And how they take themselves all seriously, lol!?!?....
-
Even if it wasn't synthol in his biceps he looked terrible. Piana's arms have a similar look only not nearly as pronounced. I know zero about site injections, but are you saying he was just injecting cc's of test directly into his bicep?? Is that even possible?? He looked pretty good early on.....should've just stuck with that physique and added little by little.
-
Ever meet a junkie that will admit he did everything except say heroin or something? Now a weak minded person would say, well, at least he is honest, and glad he avoided the real nasty stuff. A sane person would not care about what the junkie took, the focus would be on how the junkie acts and looks.
I dont care if Valentino did or didnt shoot synthol, but it sure looks like he did and really nothing else matters.

Gregg was a natural bodybuilder when he competed (began in his teens) and didn't begin using gear until long after that, even after he was a promoter for NPC shows. Never lost a show and beat guys using shit.
And, yes, site injections with juice has been around forever and all of the pros do it. That's nothing new.

Most site inject, smart ones avoid it and try to put most in the glutes.
However, do you personally think you can look like Gregg doing site injections with gear?
-
Hey Joe do you think if Gregg had to do it all over again would he have gone crazy with the site injections? After all that is what brought him fame and notoriety, and keeps him being talked about still today.
-
If Greg is claiming it was just oil based AAS then he's full of shit. It would mean taking enough steroids daily where he'd pretty much fall and die of a heart attack. I would venture he was site injecting pump and pose as well as a lot of drugs. If he was friends with Palumbo and got his drugs from him it was probably nothing but canola oil.
-

That's a good question and one that I will certainly pose to Gregg and get back to you on it on here.

I am saying his crazy antics caught a wave and many within hardcore bodybuilding related to him.
Bostin Loyd is a new version of the same " drugs rule" mentality.

what makes Gregg hardcore? Curious why you find the hardcore people related to him? He never gave one training, eating, drug routine ever. Just a bunch of stories, some interesting, most of it was just him bullshitting into thin air boasting how great and informed his is about real training.
He has great morals though in regards to kids and how they should be brought up, respect for that.

GV was/is a good dude and I like him.
BUT unless he did the crazy stuff to blow his arms up, he never would have become the " Ramblin' Freak".
It's likely he would have ended up as a guy like me.
Some dude that did well in regional shows and got into promoting and judging contests. That's it, I know, I'm that regular guy.
That's not a bad bodybuilding existence but hardly one with the fame and notoriety of the Ramblin' Freak ,whose arms exploded.
NOBODY does a show on "Howard, the decent, (but not that great), bodybuilder " ;D
Gangsters and renegades get noticed , even it looks wrong or crazy.
Very few bodybuilders want absurd arms like GV. He can't compete with those things, BUT it got him noticed.
Guys like me lead stable, decent and obscure lives. Wild-men like GV get some fame and live a crazy, fun lifestyle... until it goes bad.
THEN, they want to rebuild their image , BUT, you can't put the toothpaste back into the tube.
Modern reality TV is full of pseudo celebrities who get their 15 min of fame via some wild antics.
The rest of us "normal" folks plod along in relative obscurity.

Our new video series #LivinTheJackedLife will have a number of clips with Gregg talking about hardcore training, nutrition, supplementation and steroids. He knows his shit and one of the books he has authored is all about training and nutrition.

I'm assuming that this is the same Howard from the MD boards (sorry if I'm wrong), but if it is, you know first-hand how effective and popular Gregg was there before Adina and Blechy froze him out. His threads were some of the most active on there, even before that entire site turned to utter shit.
He fit in perfectly with the Muscle Mob mentality when Dave & John were with MD, and Robbie also knew that Gregg was a big part of that magazine and website's popularity. But that all changed over time once Robbie went to FLEX.

Yup, same Howard.
No question that GV is a cool, funny, charismatic dude, that is a popular personality within the hardcore scene.
He did some pretty wacky and crazy shit, BUT had the sense to market it effectively.
Over the years, I've tried to get him to "explain" why he blew up his arms to absurd size and related crazy crap.
Not sure why, but he always avoids any serious explanations for his past actions.
Granted, he doesn't owe me any explanation , but wtf.
He claims to be this "no BS", straight shooter, yet he can't even explain his own past behavior in a clear, candid manner.
Having said that, I do like GV and wish him all the best in whatever he decides to do.

Hi, Howard. I suppose that you figured out that both Gregg and I were fired by MD months ago. The school marm has banned me from their boards and probably Gregg, too. He hasn't bothered to even look since Blechy terminated him after 14 years via a text message.
But Gregg has always explained why he wanted to be a mass monster - and the first one, at that. Since he is short, he wanted to grow as wide as he could. First naturally, and then using juice once he saw guys bypassing him that had been training less than him - in years and intensity.
-

Sorry you and GV got axed. I figured GV did but didn't know you did as well.
I don't really keep up with the real BB scene much these days or go to shows, etc
I can see why they let GV go, but you Joe? Hmmm, that seems odd and not good business, but wtf do I know?
MD was pretty cool at the peak of John R, Dave P and GV, no question about that.
Ok, fair enough, but he ended up looking like some side show freak instead of a champion bodybuilder.
C'mon now, he couldn't compete looking like that.
I remember hearing lovely Tyra Banks say he was king of the bodybuilders and GV agreed with her during some interview.
He was never "king of the bodybuilders" and he knew it.
The man couldn't place 4th out of 3 guys in the Mr Podunk at the peak of his arm injections.
I always wanted to know, WHY he did the crazy stuff, that guaranteed he'd never be able to compete again.
What was he thinking? GV is an intelligent man, and he couldn't think it really looked good...did he?
Question for you Joe; I suspect you know WHY that MD never was allowed to do a video webcast of the shows they covered?
-

I was handed my walking papers three months earlier than Gregg and it came down to Blech wanting to revert back to his original FitnessRX For Men magazine platform that made it the best kept secret in the industry for a decade. No-name male fitness models on the cover instead of the celebrities that I was hired to bring to the table, the ones that landed us on national network and cable television a fuckload of times and had the magazine up in pages (advertising and editorial).
But when the boss doesn't like to have something that he did not do succeed - even to his and the company's advantage - he wants to either take credit for it or change it. Coupled with him wanting to use FRX as a pseudo catalog for his then-new supplement company, my time had quickly run out over at MD HQ. The last few issues of that title have been under 100 pages, down 20-something from my tenure. But what do I know, right?
Gregg was let go because of a few reasons, mainly that they wanted to take a softer approach away from why they had become "The World's Biggest Bodybuilding Magazine" - something that is missing from their current cover after I don't know how many years.
This direction was totally driven by the school marm, who I'm sure had a lot to do with Valentino being given the boot. And he's the one that introduced her to Blechman. Nice way to repay a guy. (I was there when it happened at the MD BBQ in NJ on 2009.)
Regarding your other points, Gregg was long done with competing by the time he began juicing and had no aspirations to go back on stage. He did it for himself and admitted a bunch of times for enjoying the attention that it gave him.
Not many people in the bodybuilding industry have been on mainstream TV and movies like Gregg has; that's a fact. And his segment in "Bigger, Stronger, Faster" was the most memorable one, while Jay Cutler's was cut from the movie - the then-current Mr. Olympia.
With the video webcast, I have to surmise that it is because no one but the promoters have the right to do so. When we pick up our media credentials, there are parameters that we have to sign for and follow. One of them is (I believe) around only 30 second clips at a time.

Those "gains" are not muscular. It is oil, nothing else.

Do you think they "stabalize" after 40 as they know they better be a certain way or they will be alone the rest of their miserable lives?

Hey Joe do you think if Gregg had to do it all over again would he have gone crazy with the site injections? After all that is what brought him fame and notoriety, and keeps him being talked about still today.
I spoke to Gregg about this and he said the one thing that he would do differently is to not re-use needles. He got an infection from doing that.
He would not change anything about the arms, as they have become his ticket to notoriety.
-
Even if it wasn't synthol in his biceps he looked terrible. Piana's arms have a similar look only not nearly as pronounced. I know zero about site injections, but are you saying he was just injecting cc's of test directly into his bicep?? Is that even possible?? He looked pretty good early on.....should've just stuck with that physique and added little by little.
He was an unstable insecure NYC car who wanted to stick out. Once he found out he didn't have the genetics nor the drive to get to that point, he went the other route.
Similar to how Flex went with the synthol because he couldn't outmuscle Ronnie.

If that's how you define his "status" lol, ok...

joe, I haven't been on MD since a few months after jumbo palumbo got the boot.
how the hell did fitadina get to be the top dog there? I remember at the time GV was always nice to her and promoting her to the people. way to fuck someone over.
The Dave & John era is what got me hooked on MD and I actually met Gregg through their forum.
She was just a regular fan/forum member on MD when Gregg introduced her to Blechy & she was brought on to do her Z-Zone (what a fuckin' joke that is) blog on MD. She worked her way "up" to being a mod and later was hired as a social media person for them.
When Andros left MD, it was a big mystery who would get that gig. Peter McGough? Ron Harris? Lo and behold, Adina ended up getting the nod.
Gregg and I like to say that is akin to going up to the right field nosebleed seats at Yankee Stadium, getting one of the 'Bleacher Creatures' and giving him the Yankees' GM job.
-
strange. they should give tightbooty/booty a position as well ;D
At least we can understand a move like that. But...

Maybe that's true, but a lot of people marry younger than 40 and remain married their lives.. I have a friend, he is on his 5th wife..6 if you count the remarry of one of them (why someone goes through the process of divorce and then remarries them is beyond me) but he told me recently he just found "the one". Problem is he told me that before. I don't doubt you feel she is ideal, I just wonder if the true ideal person for you exists, because I don't believe it does for my friend. I think he is drawn to a certain type that usually ends bad.
I hope you are right, I hope you two live a long wonderful life together, but I'd be careful about throwing around words like "ideal" after several marriages, as there is the credibility issue.. I think everyone or at least most go into a marriage believing their spouse to be ideal, otherwise they wouldn't marry them.

I was 27 when I got married and we will be celebrating our 20th anniversary in August. I would't have changed a thing.

That is still mind boggling to me. She must have some pics of Blechy.
-
If he is admitting that he did site injections with juice, then why is that such a stretch? It's basically the same shit as shooting synthol, except that synthol doesn't have any AAS in it.
Gregg isn't trying to say he never injected into his arms, but rather just clarifying what the substances were or weren't.
Juice is nothing like synthol. If it were, I'd have a Valentino arm lumpy mass for a butt cheek

It's a question that I have asked myself a thousand times. She has no prior experience and neither a writer nor editor and brings absolutely nothing to the table. One by one, she has weeded out the crew that she inherited and brought in people who are going to show her loyalty, even though they are not as talented as the people they replaced.
-
joe what was the real reason behind blechman giving the boot to dave and nipples romano?
those two guys should get a lot of credit for what they did for MD.
-

LOL, I don't know, but I can hope for the best on that.
My current wife and I are over 50 and both know who/what we are.
I doubt either of us will have much change in that regard.
My 1st wife agreed with me about not having kids when we got married.
A couple years later she changed and really wanted children.
I never changed and never wanted kids.
I don't see how it's possible to compromise on that.
There could only be two choices in that situation:
1. She misses out on having kids which would have sucked for her.
2. I would have been pressured into being a parent which would have sucked for me.
Divorce was the only viable option for us.

I like Adina but I never understood that move either. Of course I never worked for MD, so I have zero inside info.
Hey Joe, while on that topic, maybe you could shed some light on something.
I know some decent bodybuilder type guys over at MD that ended up being forum mods and covering contests, etc.
I'm nothing great , but I was a competitor, npc judge and even have an advanced degree in physics.
Despite being active and mostly polite/ positive on their forum, NOBODY ever even hinted at me working for them.
Be honest, am I considered some boring forum douchebag by those you know inside the industry?
I'd be surprised anyone would even know or care what I post or say, but I've gotten some odd feedback
I swear to GOD, Lonnie Teper once told me, he was very offended by what I posted once here at getbig.
I posted that LT was ok , but I thought Bob Chick was a better contest MC.
This was at the NPC nationals where I met him and he was actually pissed off at me.
I think I'm polite and reasonable and yet I seem to piss off a lot of folks in bodybuilding.
I'm not sure why????
Thanks for any insight on this.

You like her because you never had to deal with her in a working relationship. LOL
I can't say too much as to why other forum people were "promoted," but I have always looked at you as a guy who knew what the fuck he was talking about, had a shitload of experience in many different aspects of the industry and was more deserving than a lot of those chosen few. No bullshit and I'm not just saying that to suck your dick.
You're an old school guy and so am I. We probably see things in a similar fashion and I always appreciated your honesty and candor. Maybe that's a reason - you were not a candidate to be programmed like the ones who were anointed.
Over the years, that place has went through a metamorphose that has made it a shell of its former self. You've been there longer than me and know exactly what I mean.
If I had a bigger budget, I would bring you on to do some industry experience writing. Not trying to spam here, but we just finished a total website redesign and it now includes a forum, which I'd love for you to get involved in. I will make you a mod from Day One, too.

I'm a bit taken back by your positive comments.
I'd be honored to be an active member on your new site.
Please post a link so any interested can check it out.
Hey, do you know anything about why MD can't or won't do a contest web cast with their play by play?
Thanks again, Howard

I don't want to look like a spammer by posting a link, but it's just on my site - MuscleSport Mag.com and under 'Forum' in the top nav bar.
As far as the contest question goes, the actual promoters have the only rights to stream the shows. So if a site or mag wants to do so, they would need the OK from that respective promoter. Bodybuilding . com is one of the sponsors for the Olympia so I am surmising that it is in their agreement with AMI that they get to live stream it.
I would actually watch a play-by-play web stream if Peter McGough, Dan Solomon and Shawn Ray were on the mics. But if the school marm and the fan boy are doing it, I would only tune in for the comedy it would be.

I just joined the musclesportmg forum.
I hope it gets good traffic and thrives.

Saw that and replied to one of your posts. Appreciate it and I hope that you become a regular there. I have the same hopes as you do!
I want it to be a lot like Get Big - a place where you can tell someone they are total shit of that is what you feel and not worry about bullshit like getting banned. That is so fuckin' gay IMO and an public forum is not supposed to be an asshole licking session. You have to take the good with the bad.
-
Just joined also Joe. Hope it can become a Getbig Jr.

joe what was the real reason behind blechman giving the boot to dave and nipples romano?

That was before my tenure at MD (freelance and full time at HQ), so I don't want to sound like a shit stirrer and say something inaccurate by speculating, but I wholeheartedly agree that Dave and John put MD on the map.
MD was a very different type of publication before their era. Blechy purchased it in 1986 from the Hoffman family (York Barbell people). It had been around since 1964 but was floundering by then and did not do much better under its new ownership. It was the all-natural MD, then morphed into the D-cup girls era and eventually the 'No Bull' Dave & John style.
The magazine became the biggest and best in the industry, with a ballsy attitude and telling it like it is when it came to steroids, schmoes and shit like that. That was the MD that I became a fan of and it was still a great product when Robbie became the editor after Dave & John were out. Those days are LONG gone.
My, my, my...how the mighty have fallen.

I'm not quite sure how to respond to this, but it sounds pretty cool.

My thoughts exactly. I am proud to admit that I am too old to either get or even understand what the fuck this means.
