Gregg helped bring bbing down a couple hundred notches. Whatever credibility it may have had, he helped lose it.

It's always the ones that want attention, who have no talent, that wind up doing the outrageous just to get the attention.

He wasn't a freak, he was an abomination.

absolute truth.

Most site inject, smart ones avoid it and try to put most in the glutes.

However, do you personally think you can look like Gregg doing site injections with gear?
I'm not going to say their names, but the vast majority (at least 80%) of competitive bodybuilders that I know  - amateur and pro - site inject.

And, yes, I personally believe that you can get the gains that Gregg had with site injections.

Those "gains" are not muscular.  It is oil, nothing else.

I'm sorry, is there some debate as to whether this guy injected oil? I think that's like debating evolution vs creationism.

Exactly, GV is a funny, cool, entraining dude, but he loses me, when talking of his arms.

The fact is the man injected God knows what crap into his arms until they sprung a leak.
His video starts with some saying about haters being jealous...really?

I like GV, the man, and he  started with a decent physique many years ago.
BUT, no serious competitive bodybuilder would be jealous of his absurd looking body after he injected all that crap into his guns.

Give GV credit as he rode that ramblin' freak persona to become a minor celeb in the world of hardcore bodybuilding.
Had he not gone to extremes nobody would know him now or care what he says.
He'd have ended up like me, some over 50 douche , who used to compete and won a Mr Podunk back in the day...no big deal, nobody cares.

Make no mistake, I'm grateful I got an education , stable career and finally got the ideal wife .
BUT, I never was anything unique or special in bodybuilding. Love him or hate him, GV went for it. He did some crazy, insane stuff  that blew his arms to absurd looking proportions. For whatever reason, he tapped into something within the hardcore crowd with his  Ramblin' Freak personality.

I sincerely wish GV a happy and healthy life.

Howard,

when you first married your other wives, did you believe they were ideal? If not, why would you marry them? And if you thought they were ideal, what makes this one different?

Do you think they "stabalize" after 40 as they know they better be a certain way or they will be alone the rest of their miserable lives?

Hey Joe do you think if Gregg had to do it all over again would he have gone crazy with the site injections? After all that is what brought him fame and notoriety, and keeps him being talked about still today.
I spoke to Gregg about this and he said the one thing that he would do differently is to not re-use needles. He got an infection from doing that.

He would not change anything about the arms, as they have become his ticket to notoriety.

Even if it wasn't synthol in his biceps he looked terrible.  Piana's arms have a similar look only not nearly as pronounced.  I know zero about site injections, but are you saying he was just injecting cc's of test directly into his bicep??  Is that even possible??  He looked pretty good early on.....should've just stuck with that physique and added little by little.
He was an unstable insecure NYC car who wanted to stick out. Once he found out he didn't have the genetics nor the drive to get to that point, he went the other route.
Similar to how Flex went with the synthol because he couldn't outmuscle Ronnie.

joe, I haven't been on MD since a few months after jumbo palumbo got the boot.

how the hell did fitadina get to be the top dog there? I remember at the time GV was always nice to her and promoting her to the people. way to fuck someone over.
The Dave & John era is what got me hooked on MD and I actually met Gregg through their forum.

She was just a regular fan/forum member on MD when Gregg introduced her to Blechy & she was brought on to do her Z-Zone (what a fuckin' joke that is) blog on MD. She worked her way "up" to being a mod and later was hired as a social media person for them.

When Andros left MD, it was a big mystery who would get that gig. Peter McGough? Ron Harris? Lo and behold, Adina ended up getting the nod.

Gregg and I like to say that is akin to going up to the right field nosebleed seats at Yankee Stadium, getting one of the 'Bleacher Creatures' and giving him the Yankees' GM job.

Maybe that's true, but a lot of people marry younger than 40 and remain married their lives.. I have a friend, he is on his 5th wife..6 if you count the remarry of one of them (why someone goes through the process of divorce and then remarries them is beyond me) but he told me recently he just found "the one". Problem is he told me that before. I don't doubt you feel she is ideal, I just wonder if the true ideal person for you exists, because I don't believe it does for my friend. I think he is drawn to a certain type that usually ends bad.

I hope you are right, I hope you two live a long wonderful life together, but I'd be careful about throwing around words like "ideal" after several marriages, as there is the credibility issue.. I think everyone or at least most go into a marriage believing their spouse to be ideal, otherwise they wouldn't marry them.

I was 27 when I got married and we will be celebrating our 20th anniversary in August. I would't have changed a thing.

That is still mind boggling to me. She must have some pics of Blechy.

If he is admitting that he did site injections with juice, then why is that such a stretch? It's basically the same shit as shooting synthol, except that synthol doesn't have any AAS in it.

Gregg isn't trying to say he never injected into his arms, but rather just clarifying what the substances were or weren't.

Juice is nothing like synthol. If it were, I'd have a Valentino arm lumpy mass for a butt cheek

It's a question that I have asked myself a thousand times. She has no prior experience and neither a writer nor editor and brings absolutely nothing to the table. One by one, she has weeded out the crew that she inherited and brought in people who are going to show her loyalty, even though they are not as talented as the people they replaced.

LOL, I don't know, but I can hope for the best on that.
My current wife and I are over 50 and both know who/what we are.
I doubt either of us will have much change in that regard.

My 1st wife agreed with me about not having kids when we got married.
A couple years later she changed and really wanted children.
I never changed and never wanted kids.

I don't see how it's possible to compromise on that.
There could only be two choices in that situation:
1. She misses out on having kids which would have sucked for her.
2. I would have been pressured into being a parent which would have sucked for me.

Divorce was the only viable option for us.

I like Adina but I never understood that move either. Of course I never worked for MD, so I have zero inside info.
Hey Joe, while on that topic, maybe you could shed some light on something.

I know some decent bodybuilder type guys over at MD that ended up being forum mods and covering contests, etc.
I'm nothing great , but I was a competitor, npc judge and even have an advanced degree in physics.
Despite being active and mostly polite/ positive on their forum, NOBODY ever even hinted at me working for them.

Be honest, am I considered some boring forum douchebag by those you know inside the industry?
I'd be surprised anyone would even know or care what I post or say, but I've gotten some odd feedback

I swear to GOD, Lonnie Teper once told me, he was very offended by what I posted once here at getbig.
I posted that LT was ok , but I thought Bob Chick was a better contest MC.
This was at the NPC nationals where I met him and he was actually pissed off at me.

I think I'm polite and reasonable and yet I seem to piss off a lot of folks in bodybuilding.
I'm not sure why????

Thanks for any insight on this.

You like her because you never had to deal with her in a working relationship. LOL

I can't say too much as to why other forum people were "promoted," but I have always looked at you as a guy who knew what the fuck he was talking about, had a shitload of experience in many different aspects of the industry and was more deserving than a lot of those chosen few. No bullshit and I'm not just saying that to suck your dick.

You're an old school guy and so am I. We probably see things in a similar fashion and I always appreciated your honesty and candor. Maybe that's a reason - you were not a candidate to be programmed like the ones who were anointed.

Over the years, that place has went through a metamorphose that has made it a shell of its former self. You've been there longer than me and know exactly what I mean.

If I had a bigger budget, I would bring you on to do some industry experience writing. Not trying to spam here, but we just finished a total website redesign and it now includes a forum, which I'd love for you to get involved in. I will make you a mod from Day One, too.

I'd be honored to be an active member on your new site.
Please post a link so any interested can check it out.

Hey, do you know anything about why MD can't or won't do a contest web cast with their play by play?
Thanks again, Howard
