It's an epidemic.
-
WTF is going on man? I just saw a video this morning about some cops in VA beating up a 17 year old kid
-
Horrific beating. The weak pigs are lucky they didn't kill the vato. All those head kicks.
Pigs, all SEVEN of them, will claim they were in fear for their life.
OP post the video. Thanks.

Pigs gonna pig. When the Troubles start, they are gonna go quick if they don't pick the right side.

Stealing a horse constituted a hanging back in the old days.

This case will be completely overshadowed by the case in South Carolina.

they're covering spring break bikini hi-jinks. Later, a piece on how Obama cheated on a spelling test in 2nd grade. breaking news.
-
They just arrested the horse.
-
Who cares?
Besides the owner of the stolen horse.
-
They just arrested the horse.
Are you sure they didn't shoot it first?
-
:)
-
They just arrested the horse.
Now THAT is funny!
-
It is my hope those L.E. who struck the guy are brought up on charges, terminated and do some prison time. Unacceptable. Pisses me off!
-
Maybe it's just that literally everybody has the means to capture what is going on now?
-
Maybe it's just that literally everybody has the means to capture what is going on now?
and then post only the bad ones
-
They just arrested the horse.
The horse was not complying with the officers' commands and assumed a combative stance; moreover it resisted arrest. The horse is lucky it wasn't shot because the cops feared for their lives.
-
and then post only the bad ones
Why are people posting bad videos and not good ones? Well, lets see why that is. Perhaps because the bad videos involve bodily harm and the death of others, as well as false imprisonment, depending if the cop lied or not.
Yes, most people realize that there are good interactions with cops, but posting and discussing those videos is not going to elicit change.
Think of it this way: When you're feeling healthy and fine, do you go to the doctor? No. When you're feeling sick, do you go to the doctor to get better? Yes.
Thus, people post the bad interactions so the corrupt cops can be exposed for the things they are doing. Hopefully this will improve interactions by changing certain things in the police force and making things better. Thus, people only take direct action (go to the doctor or post videos of bad interactions with cops) when they are trying to seek change and make things better.
There really is no point in posting the good videos because it does not in any way take away from the bad stuff that is happening and needs to change. Maybe posting more positive interactions with cops will help sway attitudes. However, it will do nothing to elicit change (if that is at all possible).
-
was expecting a much worse beating than that.
-
Dude deserved an ass beating.
-
Gotta wonder how the hell these people think they're gonna get away when fleeing the cops in the middle of nowhere, lol... Guess the adrenalin has them going. But what the hell is wrong with cops doing this shit now knowing people could be filming???
Bring out the police van, throw him in and have at it in peace...

Wrong color, no one'll care.

I feel that he was entitled to this ass beating simply because he is white.
He has a fully developed brain, no crack addiction, likely knows his father, went to school etc etc.... no excuses for his unsettling display of savage-like antics.

Dude deserved an ass beating.
This. Maybe it will make criminals think twice. It's how things happened in the old days. I'm just glad the horse wasn't beaten.
-
white lives matter.
racis' and you know it!
Just kidding.
I never had any serious run ins with the police because I didn't call them names or tried to be funny.
Though I got slammed to the ground once and some of my clothes were torn. No bad blood there either because it was a misunderstanding and the cops had to make sure I wasn't a threat.

1st cop starts kicking him..
2nd cop - Bob! There's a chopper filming!

How/Why do they not understand they're being filmed? Baffling. And everyone needs to get a boot on the guy, seriously? Are they STILL unaware of f'n YouTube and LiveLeak? Makes no sense.
Honest question, you notice a difference between police and deputies when it comes to, let's say, professionalism?

Damn, my drink just exited through my nose...ouch
-

I think some of it may be related to how big/crowded the area is. I've noticed out in the sticks, deputies watch their step a little better because they know they have to face people in the community (and people will band together against a cop if necessary, even for being rude)

You can tell Agnostic007 is far from the kind of cop that fucks-over people, FWIW. Seems like a good guy.

Deputies tend to work larger areas, rural areas. One Deputy may cover 80 sq miles in some areas. That means less supervision. Rural tends to mean conservative areas. Deputy pay tends to be lower than competing municipalities so in my experience, there is a difference overall.
But I would also add that from police dept to police dept there are marked differences, depending on the size of the city/department, location within the states and funding for the departments. This is my unscientific perception. Small towns with 1 to 50 cops are in one category, 51 to 1500 in another, then when you get to Houston, L.A., New York I think the span of control and other factors may come into play. I have a friend on the Boston PD and their heritage, traditions etc seem to me to be from the pre 80's era.. when you stop a cop drunk, you just take him home. I don't see that around here anymore. You stop a cop DWI, they are MORE likely to be popped than the average citizen because of the scrutiny if you don't
-
I have to say, given the title of this thread, I really expected the dude to have taken a shit after being kicked a lot. I literally feel cheated.
-
Illuminati...
Lol...hey, he is a cop after all. He will find the ways to try to explain things to what he believes is the average cop's advantage.
But I don't think the average cop would even care to do that, because they would have a "yeah? Fuck you then" attitude about it.
If not, why aren't more of them doing what he does on this board or any other?
-

Ok, I thought it might have to do with the time they're required to work custody. Seems some deputies I've encountered find it harder to shed the 'everyone's an inmate/asshole' attitude.
Some, I say, not most.
-
Its kind of funny when you realize that it wasn't too long ago many cops actually had Irish accents. That was common in a lot of places. Now it is their sons and grandsons that are working those departments, carrying on the tradition of beating innocent people with nightsticks etc

Thanks. I try to look at both sides of the coin, and honestly, some of the behaviors of police officers have brought some of this heat on us fair and square. I'd like nothing more than to have all officers be professional and truly care about the community. The reality is, there are some that don't. I try to show them the door before they hurt someone or get hurt. But in my world, Austin Tx, for the great majority, they do care and I'm very proud of our department. We have some problems, but when they come to our attention, it's my goal and the administrations goal to get rid of them or hold them accountable if it is not a firing offense.

It would seem an uphill task to change the corruption

It maybe a sign of the crumbling infer structure From

About how long have you been in LE? (I missed it if you mentioned before)

I'll admit to getting breaks from cops in the past, so there are some that refuse to lose their humanity. They knew they could fuck me up with tickets or waste my time with a search, but they chose instead to tell me to be careful or even advise me how to avoid future stops.
The past ten years or so, though, it seems the brotherly cop has become too rare. They've been replaced by the neandrathal cop.

The officer clearly feared for his life. Do you know how many brave officers have been killed horrifically by women handcuffed on a sidewalk?
As to what happened after the incident:
In March 2012, Krawetz was convicted of felony battery despite his claim that he kicked Levesque in "self defense." The 10-year sentence he received was immediately suspended, and Krawetz was ordered to attend anger management classes.
But he wasn't fired from the Lincoln Police Department. Under Rhode Island law, the fate of Krawetz's job as a cop rested not with a criminal court, or even his commanding officer, but in the hands of a three-person panel composed of fellow police officers—one of whom Krawetz would get to choose. That panel would conduct the investigation into Krawetz's behavior, oversee a cross-examination, and judge whether Krawetz could keep his job.

How many other cops do you figure knew about this violent coworker over the years? He wouldn't have gone from normal TO KICKING A FEMALE'S HEAD in a single step, I can't imagine.

We'd be making assumptions if we guessed. Could be none. I'll bet no officer on the North Charleston force would expect Slagel to fire 8 rounds at a running guy either. But there could have been indicators, we just don't know. But we CAN bash all the cops on that force simply by implying they all knew he was a time bomb and did nothing.. if we want to go that route

Law protecting pigs. If I kicked someone in the head, I'd be in jail. Why isn't he? Do you think he should be in jail for assault and battery?
I can't wait to hear your excuse for this one. :D :D

Stop it! It's not about that!
It's about changing nasty habits.
I don't understand why certain types can't understand that most gringos want good quality policing and law enforcement teams that do what they are SUPPOSED to do.
We don't want ultra-aggressive, trigger-happy and in some cases racist teams of officers that will kill you at the first inkling that you do not respect them.
-
Imagine if there would be no police ::)
Dumb comment of the year. No one is saying we don't need police. Of course we do. But what we need are better police. In the same way that there are shitty doctors, but that doesn't mean we don't need doctors at all. We just need to ensure that all doctors are well trained and not shitty at their job.
And this applies to ALL professions, not just cops.
-

How about the ones that worked with him in the field? Would you suspect them?
No I wouldn't. I don't know them. I have no clue. Just speculating here.. as I don't know.. but since he was suspended in 2001 or so over an off duty incident with a jogger, he may have had some obvious temper issues. They could have been kept under control to where it was boderline.. looked bad but was it really excessive? Cops may not have wanted to respond to calls with him because he stirred things up more than calmed them down. But nothing they could hang a complaint on... just speculation, but it's possible, I just don't know.
-
I believe the cops that shoot for no reason are actually possessed by an urge to kill, and they experience an unfortunate moment in time when they can't control it. Meserle is a good example, because he was on a subway platform in front of scores of witnesses when he pulled the trigger and killed a kid that didn't pose any threat. The body acting before the mind.

The only way it is believable, is if he did actually proceed in a single step from acceptable conduct, to conduct that allows for kicking handcuffed women in the head.
-
which one was that?
Hold on a sec...will find something about it.
-
Haha..trying to find something that gives an objective account, but not happening.
The spelling is actually Mehserle, so you can pick and choose what you want to read. But it was a case where a railway cop screwed up and shot a teenager for no legitimate reason.

seems like that would have to happen but from my perspective.. there have been many times in volitile situations when one officer may deem it's time to use force while another may try another approach, or wait a little longer. It's hard to say sometimes who is right because I've seen officers who hesitate eat a knuckle sandwhich or end up going to the hospital. So it could have been those gray areas where this officer was quick to take it to the next level but wasn't so outrageous an officer would say it's wrong. Things go bad quickly and you never know sometimes what coulda happened or shoulda happened. So yes, it is unlikely he went from zero to kicking a handcuffed female. It could have been "Bob was always a little high strung and quick to end the confrontation but nevery anything like this" or "yeah, he was always abusing people and out of control." We can take our pick... I've only seen it the former way. Those who go from zero to head kick more than once usually get shown the door. But again.. I'm in Texas and a fairly professional well funded department. I could be shell shocked if I were to move up there
-
You know what? It's happening so often that you can actually tell when the officer is going to SNAP and start shooting.
Really though, I do believe Agnostic007 when he says the coworkers are shocked about someone like the Carolina cop.
But cops that are into throwing punches at handcuffed people, etc, is often something different (in my opinion) A cop like that will be triggered by the slightest backtalk, and he'd find it's easy to get away with becoming physical. He undoubtedly gets a rush by doing it, so it turns into an irresistible habit if he isn't stopped.
-

I've been on the force here 22.5 years. Worked patrol as an officer, Sgt and Lieutenant. I've only seen one officer hit a handcuffed prisoner. This officer was fired 3 times before finally being off the force. The Civil Service protections, which are there for a good reason, have gone overboard IMO. I've seen a few fired officers who I thought should have stayed fired get their job back. But the point is.. that kind of thing, at least in my experience is pretty rare.

Yes, I think at least some victims would make it a point to complain to any other officer on the scene or at the cells that treated the person in a humane way -- out of fear for safety, if nothing else. And even that assumes that the violent cop was only secretly hitting/kicking the person.

So you're a heavyweight, lol. Congrats, because I know you deserve it. But is it possible the force has changed since you were fighting in the ranks?
-
I mean, think of all the dudes you come across that you want to slap the shit out of. Cops are people, too...so that's why we can't trust them with the latitude that we've been giving them. It comes down to that.
-
So you're a heavyweight, lol. Congrats, because I know you deserve it. But is it possible the force has changed since you were fighting in the ranks?
It most certainly has changed. When I was doing it, for most of the time, there were no cameras, fewer rules (our general orders went from 20 pages to 300 pages) officers weren't as diverse. Focus was on catching the bad guys. We have moved into a more educated department, everything is about recorded, neighborhood policing or community policing is the norm. We strive to make connections with the public and build relationships more now than back then. So I think it has actually gotten better.

The 10yr sentence is excessive.
Although it is suspended.

If these other "good" Cops are appalled of the other bad Cops' reactions... why do they spend ˝ a day posting brick after brick informing us as to the circumstances that influenced that Cop in making those decisions. Specially when a "that is a terrible officer" would suffice. No preface or epilogue needed. "He fucked up, that was terrible". Instead, what you hear is the equivalent of "Joey's always had a bit of a temper... We all have those days... He wasn't getting laid because his wife is pregnant... He had a bit much to drink.. One thing led to another... Bang bang bing bing... But deep inside he's a good guy". BULL. SHIT.
I've always been of the belief that "don't do to others what you wouldn't do to your 5-year old".

Well, that is a leap of faith I'm not willing to take.
No, I wouldn't use that word. If they were capable of being appalled by that, we wouldn't have so many problems.

What happens when you need to kick someone's ass, or fuck your wife?

seems like that would have to happen but from my perspective.. there have been many times in volitile situations when one officer may deem it's time to use force while another may try another approach, or wait a little longer. I could be shell shocked if I were to move up there
Do you know if the security office at the casino turned in the tape with Krawetz ? How was it found out?

I know it's old news but Ana and Cenk call it 100% accurate:
-
Cigarettes have been proven to cause cancer. The friendly policeman was merely trying to save that young Hebrew's life.
-
He deserved to be fired.
He probably should of got some prison time
6mnths to a year.
The 10yr sentence is excessive.
Although it is suspended.
Can't argue that.. 10 yrs was probably excessive.. should have done some..

I don't know

I don't know
Turns out it was a no-win for anyone that would try to cover it up, so no one did. Even Krawetz looked behind him and up and saw the camera a few seconds after he did it.
This shows both sides of the story going back and forth:

Agnostic and Man of Steel, probably the most decent, reasonable posters on the board. And both get more shit than anybody.

Sorry but by your own words it clearly it isn't
That rare.
One officer fired 3 times.
And others officers fired & getting back there
Jobs.
If this is happening at the same rate in each area
All over the Country, it's very clearly not rare.
And the Public are left to Deal with the Fallout.
