How/Why do they not understand they're being filmed? Baffling. And everyone needs to get a boot on the guy, seriously? Are they STILL unaware of f'n YouTube and LiveLeak? Makes no sense.
Honest question, you notice a difference between police and deputies when it comes to, let's say, professionalism?
Deputies tend to work larger areas, rural areas. One Deputy may cover 80 sq miles in some areas. That means less supervision. Rural tends to mean conservative areas. Deputy pay tends to be lower than competing municipalities so in my experience, there is a difference overall.
But I would also add that from police dept to police dept there are marked differences, depending on the size of the city/department, location within the states and funding for the departments. This is my unscientific perception. Small towns with 1 to 50 cops are in one category, 51 to 1500 in another, then when you get to Houston, L.A., New York I think the span of control and other factors may come into play. I have a friend on the Boston PD and their heritage, traditions etc seem to me to be from the pre 80's era.. when you stop a cop drunk, you just take him home. I don't see that around here anymore. You stop a cop DWI, they are MORE likely to be popped than the average citizen because of the scrutiny if you don't
