yes tonnes of pics of Arnold and the old school guys doing squats like this....you cant go as heavy as regular stance (balance) but they get parts of the quads pumped that regular squats never touch!!! I love them!

arnold being so tall wasnt able to squat as good as for example franco so he also had to add leg presses for example, a wise move of arnold!!!

Arnold used various stances for different effect.
Most of his squatting I've seen, were full barbell squats with a small block under his heels.

My back would collapse and I'd fall over if I tried doing full barbell squats like that now.
His narrow free wt squats take a lot of balance and athleticism.
For me and most other mortals, I'd suggest using a machine like hacks with this kind of stance.

I read it in his book, Loaded Guns by Larry Scott on page 62, "My favorite exercise for thighs are the close stance squat alternated with leg curls." The picture of him demonstrating the squat shows his heels touching as he squats. His next exercise superset was hacks and leg extensions. He did 6 o 8 reps for 4 sets of an exercise for leg training. :)

Done them in the past, my body and structure isn't made to squat narrow esp a 6'2 guy
I'll stick to normal stance squats
Hope your knees give out in the long run :D
