For Parks. We need more of these in our parks and outside break areas of businesses.
This equipment is also made in America

Where I live things like this are being put up in parks and down the seafront. They didn't see much use at first but I see people on them all the time now.
-
It's def nice to workout outside, but will it become popular, other than in places like Venice with a strong health culture & warm climate?
There's some 'urban fitness' equipment in my area, but I see no one using it, even when I pass by on a sunny Saturday..

They can be popular in the warmer months.
Why don't you go down there and be the first, and invite some friends?

How dare you try to get Americans to work out by putting exercise equipment in parks? This is not some socialist country. If American don't want to work out, don't be shoving exercise equipment in their face. Remember when Michelle Obama gave a speech to a bunch of kids about eating healthy? Parents complained, saying she was trying to make their kids eat healthy and dictating parenting. If these parents want to feed their kids junk food all day long and not educate them about nutrition, that is their right as an American. And now youre coming in here and trying to put exercise equipment in parks? Brainwashing kids into exercising! I think you should not dictate parenting! And heaven forbid the parents get on the exercise equipment!

I think one problem is intimidation and prospective embarrassment. People that know nothing of training may have no clue how to use the stuff. And the public nature can discourage trying.
A few people doing it right for others to witness can kick things off.

It's a bad idea. Putting exercise equipment in parks will just cause muscular Hebrews to congregate and scare away white folk. FFS, Kali Muscle might show up, looking like a glazed chocolate donut.

It's on a walking route that I like to walk every know or then or more often during a cutting period. I like to perform some dips, about the only true body weight exercise (apart from push ups or squats) you can do at this place. There are no bars or racks other than a dip bar, so it's pretty limited.
Call me spoiled but I prefer a well equipped gym, plus it's often raining here (Northern Europe climate)

The preferred PC term is "Urban Youth".

Many of the equipment have instructions posted with them. If a person cannot follow the instructions or with some equipment use common sense, might need to be embarrassed.
But, as you said, a few people doing it right, can start a chain reaction. It's a bad idea. Putting exercise equipment in parks will just cause muscular Hebrews to congregate and scare away white folk. FFS, Kali Muscle might show up, looking like a glazed chocolate donut.
lol
And the gym rats scare the same people away.

It's my right to not be fit, so don't push me to do so!!! And especially don't use taxpayer dollars to put these contraptions in parks!!!

Saw the equipment. Why put a friggen' cardio equipment piece outside, lol???
-
We have a 6 or 7 pieces of that equipment stretched out over 1-1.5 miles at a park here in TX.
You can get a pretty good full body workout and cardio by running between each piece of equipment.
Not too many people utilize the equipment though. I've only heard people complain about how dirty they perceive the equipment being

then they can bring a towel.
It might be better to have the equipment in a group, like have them right next to the kids equipment.

Maybe they're including the site prep, concrete footings, and post-installation landscaping?

Maybe they're including the site prep, concrete footings, and post-installation landscaping?
Doesn't sound like it.
"Our equipment has been installed in a wide variety of environments, ranging from home backyards ... to beaches ... to cruise ship decks! The equipment is purposely designed for easy installation and adaptable to most situations. The equipment is surface mountable and is usually secured into the ground with concrete footings. Maintenance crews and construction laborers can perform this work easily, but non-professionals and volunteers have done installations as well. We provide detailed instructions showing the minimum installation requirements you'll need (Click here to see 2 pg Sample PDF).
When planning an installation our customer service staff can answer any questions you might have about the process. Though TriActive America does not do installations, our sales reps can direct you to companies in your area that can. Another installation resource is the International Playground Contractors Association. Their website can suggest qualified, licensed contractors who are familiar with these types of projects.
There are several types of surfacing options available, e.g. concrete, wood chips, rubber tiles, poured-in-place rubber, astro-turf, etc. (we discourage the use of decomposed granite or sand). There's a trend for customers to install equipment in existing spaces on their properties, re-purposing an under-used area, i.e., a shuffle board, bocce ball surface, tennis court, basketball court, asphalt driveway, or other easement.
Again ... we don't install surfacing, but can direct you to companies who do. In any case we are available to assist you with any surfacing or planning questions you might have."

Holy shit. Guess I know what I'm gonna do for a living.

I bet they get contracts with the government and is why the prices are so high. But obviously the stuff is made to last a very long time, but still, seems excessive.

I think the reason is that the city can past the blame, if someone gets hurt, to the equipment company ???
