If an Acura TLX is just a Honda Accord with a chrome grill, then what's a Honda Accord with a chrome grill? :-X
2016 Honda Accord:

Wrong, the chassis is the same, but that ~10k. Gives you more luxury stuff, better suspension, more sound deadening, different tune on engine to run 91-93 octane, different sheet metal, better info/audio system, 8 speed tranny instead of 6 speed, better warranty, etc.

This is beyond pathetic. Acura and Lincoln are two of the most failed luxury car brands in America. The idea that you can take an Accord or Fusion and slap a chrome grill on it, and people think its a luxury car is insulting. Now that the 2016 Accord has a chrome grill, the fraud is blatantly obvious. You are just paying for an emblem now.

So, just skip everything HTexan said that refuted your point?

Are we talking about vehicles that we buy for our housing attendants?

I'm speaking as someone who's a fan of both Honda and Acura. I understand there are differences, but almost all the things you mentioned could simply be options on the Accord. Sales of Acura cars have been abysmal. Customers look at an Acura and all they see is a Civic or Accord.
Basically, by moving the Accord up market, they are sacrificing sales of the TLX. It's not a good move, but I understand why they are doing it. The midsized car market has become more competitive for the Accord and they are struggling to keep sales. I'm a fan of both the Accord and the TLX. My concern is, I'm seeing Honda turn Acura into Mercury, and I don't want Acura to suffer the same fate.
Honda seems clueless about how to establish a genuine luxury brand. What you don't want to do is take a Civic with leather seats and try to sell it against the BMW 3 series. The bottom 3 series starts at $33K and the ILX (a Civic) tops out at $35K. That's how misguided their thinking has been and they have the sales to prove it.

Honda's management is making a mess of their European sales as well, and they have been doing so for years. The seem to ignore the local demands completely. Sales have collapsed years ago, and haven't recuperated. Kia and Hyundai changed their styling, upped the material and warranties, and introduced new models, opened new dealers = German car mags give them lots of praise
Honda = good quality and reliable cars, but disastrous top Japanese management

This x 1000. It's like there is no management and the company has no direction or focus. Case in point, the Honda Jet. It's like they said, let's make a Honda Civic for Donald Trump. The only problem is Donald's not buying jet made be the same company that makes the gardeners lawn mower. Honda is clueless about luxury. :-\

I agree, it looks as good as a TLX, so why would anybody spend the extra money for the TLX. They won't!

I just checked the interior and it's freaking nice too.....no need to get an Acura here......that's it, I'll trade my accord next year.. :) :)

This car looks fantastic inside and out. Acura was just sacrificed for the good of the company.

wrong, SO fucking wrong
Advance options of AcuraLink Real-Time Traffic, and AWD aren't offered on the accord to start with....
plus even if you max out an accord, still not going to having most of those things i listed
And I'm sure you are a honda "fan" ::) ::) And that is all you are.

I just had one as a loaner and it was great. I have never had problems with Acura or Lexus for that matter.

Yeah, no problems with either brand. Japan makes great cars. I have had the most problems with euro/German brands.

I'm not saying that a dual clutch transmission and AWD are options on the Accord, I'm saying they could be.
I'm talking about what it takes to properly develop a luxury car brand. Some companies get it, like BMW, Mercedes, Porsche, Ferrari, and Lexus. Other companies don't, like Acura, Lincoln, Chrysler, Infiniti, and Cadillac.
I am a Honda fan and an Acura fan. I watched Acura and Honda ascend in the nineties and thought this company was unstoppable. It was one amazing hit after another and the competition wasn't even close. As a result, I have very high expectations of both companies. I want Acura to destroy BMW, Audi, Lexus and to become much more than just a tarted up Honda.
This is what Acura was producing in 1991!

Bang for the buck they were leaving the competition in the dust. 8)

Bitch boy, I was building b-series race engines in high school. So my honda knowledge is way more then your "fan" knowledge. ::)

Wow, I had a fucking Crush on the Legend....it's Pity that I couldn't afford it back then.. ;D.....I wish Acura had kept the Legend.....I guess the RL was it's replacement
-
I'm with Palumbo on this one. Acura isn't even on the radar anymore. I was looking at Infiniti, but I'm pretty impressed with the new Cadillac ATS.
-
The only Acura worth anything was the NSX.
Everything made today by most companies is garbage. Everything looks like a Toyota Camry. Cars have been shit for a long time now.

It seems like every car company is doing short stubby front ends now.

$10k for a much uglier version of the Honda with a few more buttons inside. Seems like a great deal over a BMW, benz or audi
Even Cadillac would be hard pressed to make an uglier car than most of accuras range, that beak is just hideous
-
The NSX and ITR were the best Honda/Acura made.
That being said though. There are some GREAT luxury type cars that the US didn't even get that are only available in Japan.
Nissan Laurel
Toyota Chaser
Nissan Stagea
Toyota Cresta
Toyota Aristo
Subaru Legacy B4 RSK
All of them VERY quick from the factory. The Aristo had the same exact 2jz gte motor as the Supra mk4 for example. The Stagea in Rs260 trim was an R34 GTR in wagon form with the same motor and drive train as the GTR. The Laurel Cresta and chaser all had 2.5l turbocharged engines and were very fast.
Oh and the Subaru. Twin Turbo Boxer motor. 2.0L flat 4 making 280bhp bone stock. WRX who??? Also has a great Bilstein suspension from the factory and power everything. This is what I drive. A shit ton of car for the money. Very reliable and very fast it keeps up with the new STI Subies out there no problem.

From 1991 until it was discontinued in 2005, the NSX's price ballooned from $60,600 to $89,765, even though it evolved very little. The 2016 NSX will sticker for over $150K. Do you remember when Porsche discontinued the 911 for ten years then came back with a car with three electric motors and a battery that was 65% more expensive than the car it replaced. Yeah, neither do I. It's like they didn't talk to a single NSX owner when designing this car.

Not very bright? huh? Price is mostly inflation with added safety features and government regulations car makers must now meet.
