Imagine what a big man you would be if you met Phil face to face. I'm sure you would ask these questions and get all in his face. Yeah right. You would probably get all gushy and ask for a pic then run back to your keyboard to tell everyone you you took on Phil.
PS watch the interview, you might get some answers to your hard hitting questions LOL.

haha what's he gonna do? Beat me up? I would tell him everything to his face
-
Hahahaha he is quite the popular sports figure isn't he?
-
Thanks Tony, I enjoyed the interview seeing the other side of Phil.
-
I'm only part way through it so far, but I will say Phil having his laptop on his lap detracts from the video when the camera keeps moving about.
I'd prefer it on a solid surface, but maybe I'm just being petty.
-
Tony, ask Phil why he was stepping in front of the line like this? Clearly, Branch Warren, who is on the opposite end, is on the line. This is not photoshop. There were people at the Mr. O who confirmed this.

Love the interview, thank you Tony
-
what will phil be doing differently this year to correct his problems with abdominal distension?
what are his true feelings regarding arnolds legs?
what is the best strategy to ingratiate oneself with manion et al?
-
if i didnt know that was phil , i would of thought he was 350+ pounds of fatness
he is bloated big time in the face, but phil will show up and win his 5th in a row no doubt about it
-

he does not look healthy at all, carrying more weight will increase his chances of spilling over.
-

He will win anyway.
-
Ask Phil how will he handled not being able to check his phone every three seconds when he is being judged on the Olympia stage this year.
-
haha what's he gonna do? Beat me up? I would tell him everything to his face
Yeah right, normally internet tough guys are all talk but maybe you are the one exception.
I think not. Maybe change your screen name to William Wallace aka Braveheart

Interview with Basile & his kilometre long list of 'achievements' would be something ;D

There are plenty here that have no fear of Phil nor any other drug bloated pro. Stop being such a sycophant, you are better than this. And in the event you're not? Few things in the world of the internet are more delightful than watching a fool, even a part time fool, "make" his "case".
By all means, go Genova on us white knighting Mr. Stay-Puft.
To Hades with Phildo. The only thing more inflated that his blatantly artificial "muscles" is his pathetic manlet fueled ego. Imitation of life.

Exactly. Tony Doherty is acting like a schmoe. Big muscles does not mean you can fight, nor does it mean you are strong in a fighting sense. Phil was huffing and puffing after doing 3 plates on the incline press. I know plenty of guys who would destroy Phil in a fight who have never lifted a weight a day in their life.
Tony is acting like a big time schmoe, like Phil would kick everyones ass because he has big muscles. Talk about deluded.

In Tony's defense he did say Phil is one of his best friends in bodybuilding. Maybe the Phil he knows is different than the Phil we see online.
Similar to the thought that the whole world can think Ray Rice is a scumbag but if his wife loves him that's all that matters.

The least likable Mr 'O so far...
-
Shit sandwich. Yeah...I can't stand the woman nor the idiot in the middle. The poor guy on Kai's left just gets turded by association
I'm more than happy to forgive ML for making all those selfies when she keeps me company for a night...
-
Looking forward to your next thrilling video Tony
That Phil is going places - the camera prescence of a house plant
Can he please address the diabetes rumors
-
Then you keep the Universe in balance, my friend. ;D For her insufferable selfies alone, I cannot abide that woman. Yuck.
But only for a night. Being in love with herself (and only herself) indicates that she's not a keeper...

Welcome to my first Doherty TV Pro Talk with Phillip Heath, 7 weeks before the 2015 Mr Olympia..... Enjoy!
Tony,
Thank you for sharing your first Doherty Pro Talk show with us.
Guys, Tony is highly involved in the industry and takes time out to share stories, pictures and industry insider information/secrets.
For those who are seriously into bodybuilding culture and the competitive circuit, he can be a great resource. As I know that Tony has done judging as well.
For those that are not fans of Phil Heath (for whatever reasons you might have), it's no sweat. Live and let live, right?
Phil is not a fighter and he isn't involved in a sport that could possibly end up with him having to hurt anyone else (football, Rugby etc.). Phil is a professional bodybuilder and that's how he makes a living, by building his body (pretty obvious stuff here).
Having the current Mr. Olympia as your friend means a lot in this small industry. The guy is sought out by many people, supplement companies, magazines and as well as various other groups. Tony believes in friendships and he is simply supporting (backing up) his good friend.
Just roll with the punches Tony. The boys are just messing with you, but you know they mean no harm.
"1"
-
yes Tony is good people and good for bodybuilding.
Let's pray phil doesn't do him like he's done his other "friends"
;D
-
I know some of you guys don't like Phil and I respect that, however, if you don't know him, then not liking him is more fan like than you care to admit. See if you don't like someone you don't know and obsess over them, then you are actually the ultimate fanboy/schmoe, think about it.
For those of you that watched it, for the most part enjoyed seeing a side of Phil that you haven't seen before.
So all I am saying to the people that do not like Phil (or me) watch it, so then you are at least qualified to comment, good or bad.
-

You will always get a more complete idea of someone when you meet that person, that's obvious. It's also obvious that people have multiple sides, but how someone behaves, esp what he says and how, says something about his personality/values, how he deals with life.
Too often, I saw Phil behaving like a complete asshole, esp during press conferences and on stage. Compare him with all formal 'O winners, even Dexter & Sergio included, and you will see that Phil is the least likable mr 'O winner so far.
-
Excellent interview, thanks Tony!

I see where you are coming from but must add that he has really been the first Mr O to have this level of online scrutiny and presence. For example with Ronnie and Jay there was no twitter, instagram, snapchat, periscope etc. Even Facebook was in it's infancy.
This alone probably explains why hardy any pros post on forums like this anymore as they all have their own followings without the likes of get big. Back in the day a lot of pros posted here regularly.
How you manage your image as perceived via the internet is the new ground in sport.

Social media are just tools, they won't necessary make someone more or less likable. In Phil's case, when he feels to need to abuse (I can't find a better term) these media to 'inform' us about his latest Bentley, Gucci, private jet rents and other bs, then he behaves like a complete douchebag, just as low as a rapper from a poor background who became wealthy.
'Pros' don't post here because their grotesque egos can't handle people who make jokes or give them their honest opinions. Another aspect is the legal part, they can't speak openly about their gear use, because it's not in their best interest (ifbb & sponsors)
These days, there's plenty of footage of any formal 'O winner, but again, I guess it's safe to say that Phil is the least likable one, which has everything to do with... him

poor Phil everyone picks on him for no reason

For those that watched this one, you will see where I am heading. Not the average interview about chicken and rice, set or reps or boring shit.
So who would you like to see interviewed next?

How you manage your image as perceived via the internet is the new ground in sport.
It's not new ground in to manage your image as a personality, though.
I've talked about this before in a thread like this, but you have to ask yourself - why is a guy like Eric Cantona almost universally loved, yet was an arrogant and highly divisive character in his prime?
The answer is charm. You can be arrogant as all hell if you have some way to express it with charm.
There's nothing particularly odd about the Phil - he's from the shit talking basketball background and he is yet to realise that what he is competing in is not a sport, nor is it particularly adversarial. His cockiness is consequently out of place. Even having a "personality" is moderately out of place in bodybuilding (and I don't mean they're all lame - I just mean most of them aren't really showmen).
When you're the champion, you really don't need to be cocky. Particularly in fucking bodybuilding, where they're mortally afraid of crowning a new champ because of an archaic idea that dynasties are somehow part of the romance of it all ::)
I reread Phil's posts on getbig and he seems like a good fella. To me that is a better gauge of the guy - because it's obviously doing okay in the face of trolling, hate etc.
-

That's a good question. I would suggest to find a formal ifbb pro, someone who's seen it all, someone who isn't afraid to talk about subjects like politics in the ifbb, peds and other competitors. It could be a refreshing interview. Maybe your country mate Lee Priest?
-

Lol, Tony wouldnt ever get invited to any more IFBB events.

Nor organizing the Arnold Australia... It just shows how much politics is involved, pathetic..
I was a bit sarcastic by mentioning his name, but he's one of the few who aren't afraid to talk.
-
How about Tony tell us how he REALLY makes his money...
-
How about Tony tell us how he REALLY makes his money...
Why not say it yourself, tough guy?
-
Tony ..
Please ask Phil why he is such a c*nt?
Making him self sound better than Arnold..
Not even in the same zipcode..
He sounded so stupid just even bringing Arnold's name up..
::)

Say whatever you want about Phil, but his legs > Ahnuld's toothpicks. He's free to express whatever he wants, just like we do.

it's not a discussion about free speech fyi, you seem confused about that
-
"social media makes bigger tools out of people." ha, that's a creative twist. I think it depends, you can abuse it for blatant self promotion or to share interesting or fun stuff, just like most Getbiggers do. It's not about the tools, it's about someone's intentions. When you want to know someone better, then figure out his/her true intentions...
-
tried to listen to phils self absorbed bullshit.
About the 10th time he contradicts himself by saying "im humble but im the best and gonna act that way" i was out
this dude has serious self confidence issues (and width)

So who would you like to see interviewed next?
Paul Dillett... From freak of all freaks to WBFF ceo and president... But i agree with Dropping Plates and SGT BARNES here, Heath just always act like an insecure idiot, i don't know him, but still, someone may find very hard to believe that he's completely different in private... Too many times he stepped out of line...

would personally like to see Cedric interviewed too, ifbb pro while still working in the army etc
not sure if he's left the army now, be good to hear if he thinks he can be successful on stage while still working full time if he still is.
-
it's not a discussion about free speech fyi, you seem confused about that
x2.
This has absolutely nothing to do with free speech. People who think the issue has to do with whether or not Phil has the right to express himself have missed the whole argument made against Phil regarding his comment.
-
Interview with Priest about his Nabba financial "success" would be interesting :D
-
Hey Tony, go fuck yourself you ass clown. :D
-
Tony I watched about 5 minutes. I don't get why Phil comes across so poorly online. He's great in person. He really needs to channel his in person energy online instead of focusing it on HATERS. if you're his friend then you need to tell him the haters stuff and all of this is pointless.
He's well spoken, personable and charismatic. He should challenge THAT

What you saw when Tony interviewed him was a fake persona, something he puts on during more intimate interviews. Listen to any Phil interview--hes always nice and respectful. But when all is said and done, you see the real Phil shine through on the internet. Remember, he is being interviewed by someone, so he has to look good. When he is home, he can fire back at all the haters. That is when you see the real Phil!

Honestly I am wondering how many of the people have the most to say about him have ever met him? Part of me can see that he's disingenuous but a large part of that is insecurity. I picked that up right off the bat...which is why I don't think he's a total ASSHOLE.
I just think these internet people go right through to his deepest insecurities.
I don't get douche as much as I get insecure cornball dork which is very endearing...he could play to that. People would eat it up. He needs me on his PR Team. LOL.

We dont need to meet him to form an opinion. His constant bickering and arguing with fans speaks volumes.
-
We dont need to meet him to form an opinion. His constant bickering and arguing with fans speaks volumes.
I think it makes a difference.
I was just the same as most of the others. I didn't like him either and rooted against him because I just found him to be so irritating and unlikeable but I changed my mind. Like I said I picked up on the insecure thing from JUMP. IT's obvious he puts on because he wants attention and for people to like him. So these people making fun of him and making rude remarks really gets to him. I almost feel bad for him.
I watched him with fans and he was so nice to people. THey loved it. He talked to each person and was very personable.
Part of the issue is that I don't think he's as into BODYBUILDING as maybe some of the others were. For many of these guys they have lived and breathed bodybuilding for years. Seems like he kind of fell into it and he just doesn't have the frame of reference nor the same passion for it. Idk.
I think it's funny you all are discussing exactly what I noticed yesterday and was talking with others about.
-

The issue is that practically every famous person received shit these days via social medias. They know how to "roll with it." Its in their best interest. Sometimes they fire back, but Phil makes a habit of it.
Part of me thinks that people only started to mess with him because of his shitty attitude. The disdain toward him had to come from somewhere. It just didnt originate out of "thin air." He only has to blame himself because of his piss poor attitude. Sure, he is successful, but he will also be recognized as the most disliked Mr. O. And you know this gets to him.
Its reasons like this that people dislike him. His choice to cheat. Everyone is on the line but Phil Cheath

I am not too sure why this was pointed out and he was told to step on the line. Weird that the judges would let him get away with it.

he also initiated a physical confrontation with kai greene, by being 1 foot closer to kai than he should have been. Acting all upset when kai's hair winged him. If he's standing on his own "X", it doesn't happen.
Just stick with the rules, competitors, and it's a fair show. Stand closer...in a judging where more size helps?
i mean, did we let Shaq move up 2 steps for free throws, so he'd be closer?

The judges let him get away with it because its Phil. Plain and simple. I bet most other competitors would have been told to stay on the line.
I am sure Phil would have won either way, but its still not right from a sportsmanship POV.

Imagine Ronnie Rockel smiling and telling the judges he'd like to stand a foot closer to look a little bigger.

Lee Haney never focussed on the haters, he didnt have any.
Funny that.
-

I'm sure he did have detractors but you're right he didn't focus on it
Honestly he should look to Haney as a mentor and model for how to conduct yourself as a true professional. He should probably spend time with him and look to him as an influence if he wants to take it to the next level.
-
that's not 'gamesmanship'. that's cheating.
If standing in front of a line by a foot is enough to change a judges opinion and win a contest, the pro bodybuilding is even more of a joke than I thought.
I'm sure it didn't matter, though.
-

Phil can look toward ANY Mr. O for advice. Ronnie, Jay, Dorian, never acted like he does. One can say that Haney wasn't really in the era of social media. But Ronnie and Jay definitely were. They hardly ever acted like sensitive Philly. Then again, they didn't have haters for a reason.
-

Not the point. It most likely didn't matter. However, cheating is not acceptable because he would have won anyway. Everyone else is on the line, so Phil needs to be on the line too. Can you find a picture of any other Mr. O who was standing that much in front of the line? ??? ???
Phil talks about honor, respect, being an inspiration to kids, etc. Not much of any of that when youre not playing by the rules.

Not the point. It most likely didn't matter. However, cheating is not acceptable because he would have won anyway. Everyone else is on the line, so Phil needs to be on the line too. Can you find a picture of any other Mr. O who was standing that much in front of the line? ??? ???

Was he there the whole judging? If so, why didn't the dumbasses make him move?

I don't know if he was there the whole judging, but there are plenty of him in different poses where he is standing in front of the line. Hell, even when it was only him and Kai posing, he was standing in front of the line and Kai was behind it.
The last picture especially shows it

Nobody likely said anything then because it's not a big deal.

lol at thinking that it wasn't a big deal because no one said anything. Again, just because no one says its wrong, it doesn't mean its right.
Or nobody most likely said anything because its Phil. :-\
-
Phil can look toward ANY Mr. O for advice. Ronnie, Jay, Dorian, never acted like he does. One can say that Haney wasn't really in the era of social media. But Ronnie and Jay definitely were. They hardly ever acted like sensitive Philly. Then again, they didn't have haters for a reason.
Every champion has haters. That's just a fact of life but the great ones don't spend their energy responding to it.
I say Haney because Haney did other things outside of bodybuilding. Jay and Ronnie seem to stay pretty close to home with their ventures. Listen, I believe Phil has the goods to do more than the both of the, outside of bodybuilding. He's handsome, charismatic, and can be charming at times but at the rate he is going he will self destruct because of insecurity.
Haney is a pretty grounded guy and most importantly is winning at life as well. That is someone you want to talk to and follow their example.

Jay is probably more successful than all of them, given his investment in real estate. If you want to equate money with success.
But Haney seems to be more of a "family" man.

I don't this is as big of deal as this forum makes it out to be.

He looks diabetic; maybe he can star in diabetes commercials

It depends how you define your moral compass. Some people absolutely despise any form of cheating.
Also, I dont think competitors would have complained in fear of calling out the judges and possibly being negatively evaluated by them. We all know how bodybuilding works.
-
We all know how bodybuilding works.
Exactly why it's no big deal.
-
Exactly why it's no big deal.
As I stated for the 100th time, even if Phil was slated to win because thats how bodybuilding works, it still doesn't make it right.
Again, its how strictly you define your moral compass. Although it didn't make a difference, I, for one still think its wrong and shows how Phil is. No other competitors have done that. It speaks volumes of him.
We will just have to agree to disagree.
-

Phil can take it mainstream not with fitness/bodybuilding but other ventures. He doesn't have to shill supplements and stuff. He can do way more than that if he doesn't self destruct

My view it's professional bodybuilding and completely stupid anyway, so I couldn't care less.
In fact, I've ignored it every single time it's been posted, but now that the picture is in second place to funk51's gold weights, I guess I thought I'd chime in.
In other events, if someone was blatantly cheating and the competitors noticed, they'd call it out if they thought it affected them. I'm guessing the other competitor didn't because it didn't matter.
I get your angle on how it reflects on heath. I just think it reflects that way on you, but likely not on his competitors.
-
My view it's professional bodybuilding and completely stupid anyway, so I couldn't care less.
Well, I am not losing sleep it over lol. I am just stating an observable fact--he is standing in front of the line. How you define his behavior will depend on the person. Personally, I think its shitty that he's standing over the line. But I am not losing sleep over it, either.

Again, I am not too sure how many competitors would call Phil out to to the judges. Its impossible to know what the competitors were thinking or feeling. Perhaps they did mention something to the judges after prejudging. I doubt they would have done it while on stage.
Again, agree to disagree.
-

Yes - agree to disagree.
But to the point above - I could easily imagine a scenario where a bodybuilder points to the line or something....doesn't seem far fetched. These guys jockey for position and do all kinds of dumb stuff....so I could see it happening. Don't you think so?
-
it's not a competition that is self policing like tennis, the competitors are focused on their own presentation not the marks on the floor. If I recall correctly this is the one where kai got into phils face on stage...hmm...My feeling is, it's something the "athletes rep" should take up (hahahaha ya right) :D we all know what happens to the individuals who complain in bodybuilding.
My opinion is the winner/cheater should be disqualified.
-

I thought that part was funny. Kai wouldn't be dumb enough to kick Phil's ass back to Brooklyn but it was still funny to see the threat of it. Certainly livened up what would have been a boring show. I don't think it was a big deal. Arnold used those types of little tricks and such for a competitive edge
-

What do the IFBB rules state on this matter?
But lol - taking copious amounts of illegal drugs = ok
Standing a foot in front of a line on stage = DQ

Actually, it doesn't seem too far fetched at all. Do you actually think NO other competitor saw him and wasn't thinking to himself, "What the hell is Phil doing?" Do you really think not ONE competitor was thinking this? Really? I bet some saw and were rolling their eyes and/or not pleased with it. I am sure quite a few guys saw this. And I do not think any of them would have the balls to point this out on stage, maybe except Kai. I think if anything was said, it was said behind closed doors.
Just my opinion. You obviously think differently.

the "rules" comprise a grand total of ten pages :D
here's the relevant section:
Article 10 – Assessing of the Elimination Round, Round 1 and Round 2
10.1 General:
[...]
A detailed assessment of the various muscle groups should be made during the
comparisons, at which time it helps the judge to compare muscle shape, density, and
definition while still bearing in mind the competitor’s overall balanced development. The
comparisons of the Mandatory Poses cannot be overemphasized as these comparisons
will help the judge to decide which competitor has the superior physique from the
standpoint of muscular bulk, balanced development, muscular density and definition.
http://www.ifbb.com/ifbbcomold/wp-content/uploads/Mens_Bodybuilding_Rules_2014.pdf
standing forward would add bulk comparatively which is even more important for a guy who is 25lbs lighter than the other guys. The rules indicate the comparisons "cannot be overemphasized" for scoring. Don't see anything about penalties. 8)

I'm sure the others saw and said forget it. It's not worth the argument bc all it would have done is cast them in a more negative light
Is Phil respected by his peers? It's one thing to have rivalries and competition but how he he viewed in the eyes of his peers? That would be an interesting question
-

Yeah - if it truly mattered, I would think someone would speak up. That's why I think nobody cared.
The issue is that maybe it did matter in their minds, but for whatever reason, they didn't speak up.
Obviously, we can go back and forth all day. I disagree with you in the sense that if the competitors cared and it would have made a difference, they would have said something. I dont know about that. Also, even if it didnt matter, from a purely ethical POV, I don't agree with his actions (standing in front of the line).
Again, agree to disagree.

^^ this is a valid argument.
but the natural question that follows from this observation is; why does nobody care?
a couple reasonable answers:
1. the cheating doesn't matter because phil was so far superior that he would have won anyway.
2. the cheating doesn't matter because the outcome of the contest had already been determined.
:o

As I stated, from an ethical POV, point 1 doesnt matter. Just because you know youre going to win cheating is still wrong. Ronnie blew away the competition year after year. He never stepped in front of the line.

I think all three are valid.

Agreed, in general.
I'm trying to clarify the context of this particular case. These guys are all loaded up on pharmaceuticals, which can be construed as cheating technically but it's not considered unfair and nobody complains about that for obvious reasons. (cheating is unethical when it's unfair)
what's not so clear is why nobody complains about this type of action which clearly undermines what should be a fair judging process...hmmm ???

Yes, but the difference is that they are ALL on drugs.
But only ONE person stepped in front of the line: Phil Cheath.

nobody claims that phil blew everyone away with his physique that year (2012).
So why did the officials and the competitors allow him to get away with this?
Nobody complains afterward? It's very strange. (remember this is the biggest contest of the year prize money is 250k)
Call me a conspiracy nut but seems like the only reasonable answer is that the contest was fixed.

For those that watched this one, you will see where I am heading. Not the average interview about chicken and rice, set or reps or boring shit.
So who would you like to see interviewed next?
Phill has brought a great physique to the Olympia A Couple of times
The last being 2011.
I have seen / meet Phil a couple of times 4/5 months out from the Olympia
Other than Big Soft Bloated Arms ( possibly full of oil )
There was not much to him at all size wise or condition.
Clearly completely transforms for the Olympia ( or his twin competes.ha )
As for others to interview.
Arnold. Phil made a huge mistake by bashing Arnold.
Dorian. Fairly straight talking is Dorian.
Cedric.
Lee P. He seems to be prepared to speak openly about the Ridiculous
Nonseness of All the Poliitics.
Lee H. Has always conducted himself very well.
Tom.P if he is willing to talk openly.
Phil is MR.O. Last couple of years it's very debatable if he deserved to win.
Sadly for him he is just Not a Likeable MR.O

But isn't it always? I thought that unless the champ is just blown out, then the same person wins.
I kind of feel like people are just nitpicking

you can say this but the argument tends to rest on subjective assessments of the physiques. what's different here is that there's a clear record and it's completely objective.
There's absolutely nothing to debate when you cross the line. That's what "lines" are for objectivity. (in most sports you get disqualified upon review of these types of infractions)
Either we are watching a "contest" or we are watching something else. ???

In a normal world, the guy would have been disqualified immediately, if not later upon review.
so how at the mr.olympia, the biggest show of the year, does the cheater end up winning the "contest" and nobody complains?
I don't understand what's going on here.
phil cheated blatantly, yet won the show and received 250k.
perhaps this was not brought to the IFBB's attention?
-

I think all three are valid.
given that we have a photographic record, the dipshit factor of the judges can be adjusted later if necessary. This is what happens in every other sport.

You give too much credit to IFBB judges.
And, again, its just different perspectives.
I will say it AGAIN: I don't think standing closer helped him win, nor do I think it swayed the judges decision. I agree with you on that.
However, (a) its still cheating, no matter how you look at it, and (b) it gives you a glimpse into Phil's personality, i.e., that he will try and bend the rules to his advantage (whether or not he knew it will give him an advantage or if it actually did). To me, its the mindset behind the cheating, not that I actually think it mattered.
Thus, my position goes beyond whether or not it helped him win. Its just part of his shitty demeanor.

if you accept for the sake of argument that the contest is fixed; what do you think is going on in phils head?
He's not concerned about the judges, or the officials because he knows he's going win
His only concern is with looking good enough in the comparison pics to minimize fallout when they end up in the magazines
that's why he's so brazen about moving way forward
:o

Would you feel the same way if one of the competitors tried a few more IU's of insulin, or found a new drug that nobody knew about? Would that be any different?
-
Would you feel the same way if one of the competitors tried a few more IU's of insulin, or found a new drug that nobody knew about? Would that be any different?
Its an unrealistic and bad analogy to use. However, yes, it would be unfair if some competitor found a drug that gave him a superhuman edge.
But as I stated, its a bad analogy to use. The difference is that you cant hold all variables constant outside of the day of the competition. That goes for any competition. The judges have no control over what the competitors do outside of the competition day.
But on the day of the contest, you can hold certain variables constant, i.e., making sure everyone is on the line, making sure everyone is hitting the same poses when they are told to and for the "right amount of time," ensuring that all night show routines are relatively the same time, and making sure everyone shows up on time. Thus, judges have more control regarding enforcing equal standards on the day of the competition. What does it show about the judges? That they are letting the rules slide for some. Not good.
So, while I recognize that all variables cant be held constant outside of the day of the competition, the judges need to hold all variables constant on the day of the contest, and not allow competitors to willingly break the rules.
-

Why give more weight to contest day than prior?
The truth is, the whole thing is a farce. It's all based on illegal drug use. There's no morals from the outset.
-

I didn't say that more weight should be given to contest day. You are putting words into my mouth.
I said realistically, you can't hold all variables constant prior to contest day. While it would be great to do that, its impossible. I never said it was less important, its just almost impossible to do, and I recognized that shortcoming in my above post.
Of course there is no morals from the outset. They are all doing illegal things. However, you would think the judges would not let Phil get away with actions like that.
-
Well, if he knows its fixed, then his actions dont matter. Wouldnt be surprised if the ifbb contests are fixed.
his actions don't matter from a strictly ethical point of view
what matters is that his actions indicate that the judging at the olympia is corrupt
you don't need to argue about torn body parts, distended abdomens, drugs and so on because it's not a contest.
If you're gonna win you don't even have to stand next to the rest of the guys. We have a record of it.
-

Well, yes, obviously if there is corruption at the top of the IFBB, then Phil's infractions, from an ethical POV, are minute when compared to fixed contests and corruption at the top. His actions are still wrong, in my opinion, but what would need to be addressed are the higher powers of corruption.
