Title: Fruit
Post by: 38-26-40 on September 08, 2015, 06:34:53 PM
What's your favorite fruit? Mine are cherries!

Summertime (and diet time) is so hard for me, because all I want is fruit  :-\

Cherries, strawberries, blueberries, watermelon, nectarines, peaches, blackberries, raspberries, plums, etc.

I just want a bucket full right now  :'(

One of the best fruits I ever had was Soursop or Guanabana in Kauai.  It was amazing.  A big green prickly skin and inside a white flesh with big seeds.  It was sweet and sour.  Just a delicious treat.  Apparently it is cancer fighting.  I haven't been able to find it anywhere here.

Kiwi is very high in vitamin C - more than oranges, so maybe it's the ascorbic acid  ???

Great way to cook it up (no hassle with the silk or husks), cut it off the cob, and freeze for future use.  Looking forward to making corn chowder this fall/Thanksgiving.

Ever eat one that isn't quite ripe?  It leaves your mouth all chalky and gross.  Suck a horrible feeling.  For some strange reason my cat loves them.  As soon as I cut one open he runs over and starts licking it.  he won't do that with any other fruit.

I just recently had a couple and had no idea how to or at what stage to eat.  They seem to be one of those fruits that continues to ripen after it's picked.

Costco will get them in season.  They are called Fuya or Fuja Persimmons.  You essentially have to let them sit and ripen for a while before they're edible.  It sucks when you eat one that's not ready and it chalks up your mouth.  It's like putting sand in your mouth.  Its the same feeling with unrippend olives.

freshly squeezed pomegranate juice, amazing with a bit of salt.
to eat, can't beat a bit of melon.
dates are fantastic when ripe and juicy.

oats with milk, raw honey and dates cooked in with a generous helping of peanut butter, cup of joe on the side.
that's the good stuff.

Good melon and source of said melon.  The Mexican grown ones sucked ass.  They weren't sweet or juicy and had a chalky consistency, but the usa grown ones that came out later in the summer were powerhouses of sweetness and juiciness.

Dr. Oz said today that eating a cup of pineapples a day will help with muscle pain.

"Bromelain is a mixture of enzymes that digest protein that are found in pineapples. Pineapple has been used for centuries in Central and South America to treat indigestion and reduce inflammation."
