I don't like drinking very often as it doesn't have any positive effect on bodybuilding...and I get way too angry when I drink...but yet - I find myself drinking on a lot of occasions...just curious to see what everyone else around here does?

If it alters you in a positive way mentally you start to like the taste because you start to associate the taste with the kick. Just like you may start to "like" other foul tasting/smelling drugs.

I like a pint with a Saturday night curry or a Sunday lunch - that's the only time I drink really. But it's only ever one pint and once I've got the taste for it I never have a second. I don't understand these guys that can drink five or six pints in an evening - don't see the point of it.
I do like a nice single malt whisky every now and again too when the mood takes me. Straight - no water, ice, or mixers. That stuff puts hairs on your chest 8)

Well, this goes with any taste or smell. We make associated with tastes and smells, and each has a distinct psychological affect on us, which is either going to make the taste/smell aversive or favorable.

You need to make a distinction with drinking for pleasure and drinking for the sake of getting drunk. I do the former, and never the latter. Don't see the point. I like the taste of beer just enough to be able to say I'm satisfied with one pint and then the feeling of wanting a beer is out of my system, same goes for whisky or any other short drink.

yes. the social / peer pressure starts at an early age. especially in countries like britain and ireland where drinking alcohol is practically the norm. your (legal) 'first pint' is a coming of age milestone. plus there was a great pub culture once. good times 8)

My mom really enjoys an ice cold beer with crackers and anchovies on hot days. ;D I don't deny others their right to an adult beverage its just that I prefer not to drink myself. I made the best designated driver years before the term ever came into existence.

My dad and my maternal grandfather were both raging alcoholics. I saw what it could to and decided that, like drugs, it was best that I avoided it. A personal choice, nothing more.

Well, I also would not wish to put my family in harms way. Nor anyone else for that matter. As I said, it is a personal choice and my father and grandfather knew of my decision. In fact, my grandfather refused to drink anytime he was around me out of deference to me.
On occasion I am still called upon to be a designated driver. Free pop! ;D

I believe it was the great Bob Chick(who was once a cop)said, he has never touched a recreational drug or even taking a sip of beer. lol. The dude is 50 pounds overweight. A total Narcissist and now has cancer and no one on the planet would trust him(really) as far as they could throw him...Oh ya, and he wears a hair helmet because of insecurity and vanity :-\

The last time I drank we got a lift Iinto the city to a club off one of the lads sisters and I got her to stop the car, I apparently commandeered the road and vomited loads, was fine then til the next day when I spent it all in bed vomiting

Not often. A few beers when I take the lady out to dinner once a week. Whenever I go camping I get shitfaced on whiskey every night. Going on a canoe trip tomorrow. Have to portage a few miles everyday, yet I'm bringing 3 bottles of whiskey for 6 days. Every ounce on your back makes a difference so I really shouldn't. My friends say I have a problem but the only time I drink is in front of a fire.

I hope I am not among that "group", LOL! I lived the example for my children and my wife. My wife will not have a glass of wine if I am there as she says I make her feel "uncomfortable" but if she is with her friends during Christmas, for example and I am working, she will have a glass. My daughter will have the occasional glass of wine too. So far my son does not drink alcohol and while that is what I would prefer, he is an adult.
I was told once by a family member that I should lighten up and try wine or beer, especially during the holiday season. Even though I am adopted I will not risk it. Stupid? Nope. Just cautious.

I would say sticking a needle in your shoulder or glute from something that 99% came from unregulated China is way more of a form of suicide than drinking beers/alcohol that is regulated by most first world countries...

I don't drink beer or pints (apart from a very rare pint of Guinness). I am a big mark for whiskey however, neat sometimes with ice or a splash of water. I will usually do this once or twice a week. I just grew to love the taste of whiskey, a good scotch is perfect. If you choose a respectable, expensive brand it makes drinking "responsibly" a reality. Helps to relax, doesn't make you feel drunk in the typical sense and there is zero after effect the following morning.

Ahh probably a little too much these days. 2 days usually but sometimes 3 days a week. More during the holidays. I'm not a huge fan of beer, a cheap pilsner will do it for me. I like a good scotch whiskey, islay, single barrel. Laphraoige, Lagavulin or Ardbeg.

Good Russian Vodka (made from potatoes), when kept in the freezer where it gets thick and syrupy, can be very nice. I add it to lemonade. - Makes it more refreshing.

About 2-3 glasses of wine a night these days. Im 220 9% bf today so I don't buy the whole bullshit about alcohol inhibiting gains. Actually improves insulin sensitivity in moderation…helps you unwind and keep cortisol down!

Doesn't inhibit gains...Inhibits fatloss to a degree...So essentially if you have macros set for bulking there is no reason why you can't drink....You can be nutrient deficient in many areas and still experience muscle growth...Either way though...This is a MUCH HIGHER number of people that drink on here than i thought...I figured most people would be against it and i would be one of the people who drank more...I guess not lol

I don't think anyone here is eating perfect enough and training perfect enough for it to make a difference. Going 5-6 hours without eating is going to do far more damage than getting fucked up a few times a week.

Doesn't inhibit gains...Inhibits fatloss to a degree...So essentially if you have macros set for bulking there is no reason why you can't drink....You can be nutrient deficient in many areas and still experience muscle growth...Either way though...This is a MUCH HIGHER number of people that drink on here than i thought...I figured most people would be against it and i would be one of the people who drank more...I guess not lol
He's also been 21 for 4 years.

I probably have had the LEAST amount of drinks of anyone here (except abstainers)...
First beer I had in over 4 months, I shared a huge can of new "Budweiser Picante Chelada" which is Budweiser, Chile, Salt, and Clamato Juice!!
It was actually tasty!

Don't drink at all, use to in the extreme, side effects were nasty, especially the various 300lbs rashes I would wake up next to in the morning

It's a SPICY Clamato, mixed 50/50 with Bud, I thought it was incredibly refreshing!
I had it on a cheat day, with Fish and Chips!
