just fucking wow
-
So much great information in that small article.
That $9 million bond is only about $1 million out of her pocket, and that's like an extra bank account because her fiance is unlikely to run because he's innocent.
It's refreshing to see her compare her plight to that of Jesus.
The article closes with its unknown if she made the donations to her church or the ceribral palsy fund, lol.

You win 188 million and pay 100 million on taxes. Freaking ridiculous. People getting ripped off by the powers that be.
Anyway, she will wind up broke, as her drug-dealing boyfriend will probably piss all her money away.

Holmes took to Facebook to defend her spending habits.
“What Y’all need to be worried about is Y’all money and not how I spend mine this is benefitting Y’all how? And no he’s no drug dealer or user but who are Y’all to judge anybody? I will definitely pray for Y’all because it’s much need…they talked about Jesus so I’m not surprised Y’all are talking about me but be blessed though,” she posted on WWAY’s Facebook page.
Who are we to judge? Hmmmm, your bf is jailed twice for drug dealing. I think people have every right to judge him, and rightfully so.
I am not too sure why we live in this culture of "NO JUDGING." You see it ALL over social media. "Don't judge." Its EVERYWHERE!! How annoying. Why do people think they are above being judged or criticized for ridiculous actions? Interestingly enough, this man was JUDGED by a body of his peers. Either the law will judge you or society will judge you. Deal with it.

Lol she's so worried about what others are saying about her that her reaction is to say mind your own business on her social media page....
The whole concept of posting anything on social media and then saying don't judge me is hypocritical. The very reason you update your status is so people are informed of what your activities are, forming an opinion on your thoughts and actions ::)
She has won generational type money that she will likely lose in less than a decade, blaming others for her bad decisions.

Yup, she will be broke soon enough, then will bitch and moan about losing her money.

I'm so tired of y'all opening y'all's mouth when the whole issue don't concern y'all one bit. Shoot.
I'm done. I'm better than y'all's trifling selfs.

Good news is that the money will soon be recirculating in our economy instead of her hoarding it selfishly.
So in a way she is just like Jesus.

Not exactly on taxes. Had she not taken the winnings in a lump sum, her tax burden on the periodic payout, would have been considerably less. She appears to be a young woman. One can safely assume she is not an experienced investor. Had she taken the installment plan over 20 or 30 years, she would have been far better off.
Now if I won a large Powerball jackpot, it would not make sense to opt for the installment plan since it is very unlikely I'll be around long enough to spend it. Of course, you can always leave whatever is left to your heirs. Even then, $188 mil paid out over 20 years less taxes is probably enough to make my kids and me very solvent.

I am no fan of taxation, but how is getting $88MM for a $1 investment "ripped off?"

Because whether you paid 1 dollar or 1 penny, you still honestly won the money. No reason why you should pay that much in taxes. You're getting ripped off in the sense that someone else is most likely filling their pockets with the money that you won fairly. This is not just, no matter how much you paid for the ticket.

It's taxed as ordinary income. Look, if it bothers you so much, stop voting for Socialists/Democrats. I would rather see lottery winnings taxed at 99.9% than somebody's actual hard work taxed at 50%.

Welcome to the world on non-participatory democracy. Where Americans don't vote, but complain a lot.
Fine, you don't vote. Then your opinion on this matter is simply uninformed and ignorant.

Lol at believing your vote actually matters in the corrupt world of politics lol.
Another person who thinks his vote actually means something or can change things lol.
Yes, you do your part as a good ol' American boy.

aj, you're a good dude. But get fucking real, your "vote" doesn't mean shit.
And vote between who anyway? Hilary and trump? wow, the freedom. LOL!

So then basically voting does nothing other than give you the "right" to complain.

So, your part in all of this is simply to complain about the perceived "injustices" of the taxation of lottery winnings on a bodybuilding message board? Fine, elections increasingly don't matter, and as soon as your democrat friends finish importing 30 million voters/leeches, it really won't matter.
At least participate in the revolution. If not that, what purpose do you serve? A buffed gas bag emitting strange sounds?

X2. Our votes mean absolutely nothing. Big Brother has convinced people like AJ that they are doing their part as great Americans by voting and changing things haha lol.
If someone really wants to change something, it takes a lot more than casting a silly vote.

who told you that?
In the UK if you win 5 million on the lottery you get five million, winnings are not taxed the stake money is normally taxed.
Same with betting on horses, you either pay tax on your stake or pay tax on your winnings, choice is yours.

Far be it from me to look down my financial nose at anyone. If you people knew how I spend my money yalls'd be running a judgement train up in this muthafucka. "Fuck you buyed that for?!" Shut your mouth. Taint none nobody binness.

I read somewhere that in America that there could be upwards of 100,000 people who make their living gambling in some form or another...Although the odds in big Jackpots like Powerball and Megabucks are astronomical, when you buy a ticket, you are making a wager. It's a gamble and should be taxed the same as any other gambling winnings. If more of these people who won massive lotteries looked at it as earned income(which it is in the eyes of the IRS/Feds), they may think twice before giving millions away in snake oil type charities, scumbag relatives and so called friends. If you win 20 million playing Powerball or 20 million in Vegas sports betting, treat the winnings exactly the same. Again, the Feds do. And don't ever feel guilty about winning any amount of money you put a wager on. Regardless of the size of the jackpot...

Whether it is the lottery, jeopardy or a poker game, winnings are taxed. You don't have to like it, nobody cares whether you do or don't. BTW keep all the receipts from what you spent getting to that winning ticket, it's tax deductible.

Lol, good old America
What a Jackpot Costs
If you won a $200 million jackpot, you could owe millions in taxes. Assuming that you didn't make any money working and don't have any deductions, you can subtract the $6,200 standard deduction from your winnings for a total income of $199,993,800. Your first $406,750 of income gets hit with a total tax of $118,188.75. The remaining $199,587,050 gets taxed at 39.6 percent. Combining the $118,188.75 with the $79,036,471.80 gives you a total federal tax bill of $79,154,660.55. However, only $50 million would have been withheld, leaving you to write a check for $29,154,660.55.
