Title: Older women and drink
Post by: smoothasf on October 24, 2015, 02:31:02 PM
My wife is 33 and drinks a whole bottle of wine pretty much every night.   I've give her some shit about it but I've also noticed every girl I work with above 26 is bangin back the booze every night.  Are middle aged women all alcoholics now? Wine and presecco seem to be the tipple of choice. Don't get me wrong I like a bottle of wine with friends on the weekend but not at 6pm on a Tuesday.

Women between the ages of 26 - 33 are neither "older" nor "middle aged".

This is not normal by any means. Your wife is clinically depressed, or worse. She is self-medicating with alcohol. Marriage to a Getbig poster must really be getting her down. Put the computer down and find out why your wife hates life before it's too late.

Yah as olympia said its not normal, but you are right, it seems most people in general are wayyyy too into alcohol. Even older guys and girls still do the "whoa so i got so shit faced" or "bro, dont waste liquor bro, give it me bro, party foul" behavior. Im like "what do you mean "party foul"? You that strapped for cash u cant pour out an old beer?" its not even funny. Bro ive been buying liquor for 10 years, why hasnt the novelty worn off for you yet?

Sorry got on a tangent there...do u have kids? Plan on kids?

She drinks to make it through the suckass evenings with you.

Sure sign she is cheating on you and is depressed that she has to be with you and not her married boyfriend in the evenings. She will leave you within 6 months.

That's the reality of the situation.

Next he will be telling us that she is low on energy. That she goes "shopping" on Saturday afternoons for 3-4 hours and when she gets home she is exhausted, disheveled, and she goes straight to the shower and then takes a nap. And her sex drive is non-existent.

When the reality is that she spent the afternoon sucking and fucking her married boyfriend.

Isn't a bottle of wine really only like 4 glasses of wine?

Not trying to talk ill of your wife, and you certainly shouldn't make a decision based on what posters on an anonymous message board say, but..........that shit is not normal. You know this which is why you ask. Don't be fooled by shows like Cougartown and Kathy Lee, it's not normal. Get her help, and if you have money, get a private investigator to follow her for a few weeks to see if something's up.

Consider the ABV.  A bottle of wine volume is a little over the volume of 2 cans of beer.  Typical prosecco is 11-12% ABV. Typical beer is ~6% ABV.  So a bottle of prosecco would be just over 4 beers.  Of course there's heavier beers, and bigger reds are usually 13.5+ all the way up to 14.9 for something like a Zin.

From my dating days, I believe that 75% of hot-shot Manhattan "career women"-- the ones who boast how hard they work, how they are married to their jobs, how their work triumphs everything, how they don't need a man, and all the other female-empowerment nonsense-- are alcoholics.

LOL  ::)  A bottle of 13.5 over the course of 4-5 days is nothing. Maybe more if entertaining.

I drink 4 bottles of wine a night and I'm just fine.

Your wife shares one with me too but I don't count that.

Yeah, it's alcoholism only if you lose motor skills...

Oh she's pissed alright lol.  She doesn't go out or 'work late' she drinks in the house or her friends come over who all do exactly the same every night.   So do all the female managers I work with. It's like an epidemic in Britain.

If I would drink 4 large cans of beer every evening I would definitely consider myself an alcoholic and I wouldn't be able to workout ever.

However, I've noticed that 1 large beer is a great PWO when you're dead tired. Seriously...

'wie' means wine ???
An average bottle contains about 72 grams, which results in 504 empty calories

Yes, having a glass of wine has become the new trend among woman these days (even men). However, its usually 1 or 2 glasses, not a WHOLE bottle. Id hardly consider 1 or 2 glasses a night "banging back the booze," but your wife surely is.

im with him most of the women I know drink wine every night

normally one or two glasses but the odd bottle thrown in

seems its socially acceptable to be a wineaholic

swap wine with vodka and people would feel differently

its till alcohol

Agreed 100%. I am sure we have all had those nights where we drink a lot (a whole bottle of something). But every night? Hmmmm. That's just a little too much for my taste. And I think its perfectly fine to have 1 or 2 glasses a night.

And, yes, if someone said they drank a whole bottle of vodka in one night, peoples reactions would be MUCH different. Replace it with wine, and they are viewed as upscale and classy.
