Nobody has confidence in Carson anymore. Even you!
Has ben carson been 100% honest? Yes or no?
Can't answer that.
If you have reason to not believe in Carson, imagine what most people think? Toss out the politico piece, you still have him admitting he was never offered a scholarship by a man who wasn't even in the state that night - but he claimed it anyway.
screw politico. He told a few other whoppers. and you won't even call him honest?

Hahaha, you can't be me. Are you kidding? More spin. Lmao.
If you're talking about his bio, no he didn't lie what so ever.

I believe Ted Cruz is an honest man.
I believe Carson was caught in some big lies this week.
It's fun to shit on politico, I enjoy it. But you can throw their article compeltely out the window, and you still have carson ADMITTING TODAY that some of the things he claimed in the book aren't accurate.
He has vindicated them. He has admitted he's a liar. Even his biggest supporters now have to ADMIT the book contains non-truths.

What you believe and what the facts have been shown are two different stories. You choose to believe what the original headline said dispite it being debunked.

politico doesn't matter. toss that article out the window. Carson is a liar. Even you won't say he's honest.
I have no problem saying Ted Cruz is an honest man.
You seem to have a problem saying Carson is one ;)

Thousands of donors and $3.5 million reportedly raised for Carson, since this "controversy" would say differently.

I guess Repubs think Politico fabricated the quote from Carsons autobiograhpy and also fabricated the very words out of his own mouth in various recorded interviews
The guys over at Politico and some cunning MoFo's
How the hell did they even do that?

And I guess Dems think that people buy their newfound outrage about a black man turning down service in the EEEEEEVILLLL white man's military to opt for an Ivy League education, focusing on medicine.
And all of this JUST SO HAPPENS to come as multiple polls have Carson beating H. Clinton.

Thanks for making my point. Put a (D) by Carson's name and the liberal press would be practically having orgasms about this narrative.
Carson was basically told that, if he applied to West Point, he'd be a virtual lock to get in the place.
That, for all practical purposes, is a scholarship offer especially coming from a flag officer.
-

the flag officer being westmoreleand, whose records show wasn't even in the state at the time of the memorial day 1969 dinner where this offer was made?
See, I hate when politicians - and yes, carson is one - try to insult intelligence by saying "i'm not lying", even when caught in completely proveable lies. It's insulting.

What's insulting is this foolishness the media and you keep trying to push. Even Politico, after much backlash, admitted that Westmoreland was in Detroit during the time Carson states.
http://money.cnn.com/2015/11/06/media/ben-carson-politico-west-point/index.html
At the end of the day, Carson had no intention of going to West Point. He settled for Yale.
Besides, what exactly would be his motivation for lying about this issues for decades, long before he ever thought about being president?

Perhaps he wanted to let people know he was good enough to get into the place, but chose not to.
Perhaps it lets him live vicariously thru the military. He can "associate" himself with military service without having to actually do it.
He's a braggart just like trump. The pics in his house alone... unreal.

given his anti-gun nature, he might be talking about himself.
But when asked whether people should be allowed to own "semi-automatic weapons," the doctor replied: "It depends on where you live. I think if you live in the midst of a lot of people, and I'm afraid that that semi-automatic weapon is going to fall into the hands of a crazy person, I would rather you not have it," Carson elaborated. However, if you live "out in the country somewhere by yourself" and want to own a semi-automatic weapon, he added, "I've no problem with that."

You realize he's owns your mind and over the last few days has PWNED the FUCK out the media by proving them wrong? Hahaha. Keep going. You guys are hilarious.

Who doesn't have awards of their family accomplishments in their homes?
He went to Yale. I doubt anyone doubts his ability to get into West Point.
Bottom line: Politico's hit piece is biting its hacks right in their hind parts. And Carson is cashing in on their foolishness, literally.

To the tune of $3.5mil in what? A day or two? Killary on the other hand losing to him big time.

He owns more than one mind and he says things like "The Earth is 6,000 years old" and "The Pyramids were built for storing grain?" Shit, imagine the things he'd say if he only had to rely on his own mind!

hahahahahahahahahahahaha haha
so he had dinner with him like he said and was offered a full scholarship.
his words
"In the memoir, "Gifted Hands," Carson wrote about meeting a prominent US general and later being offered a scholarship to the US military institution.
"I had dinner with him and the Congressional Medal winners," Carson wrote of a 1969 meeting with Gen. William Westmoreland, who had been in command of US forces in Vietnam."
This is a complete lie.
"Later I was offered a full scholarship to West Point."

Please! Have you had an administrator from a school have dinner with you and your family and basically tell you that, if you apply to get into their school, you're in, full-ride and all?
I have. That happened to me in 1991, which is why I ended up going to FAMU. The guy (executive assistant to then-FAMU president, Fred Humphries) basically told my mother that all she had to do is pack me a suitcase, send me to Tallahassee, and FAMU would take care of the rest. And they did just that.
I hadn't even heard of FAMU prior to 1990. Yet, they'd been trying to reach me for months, after I made National Merit/Achievement Semi-Finalist in high school.
So you're really going to suggest that Carson could EASILY get into Yale but not West Point, especially since he was the #1 JROTC guy in his city?
-
I am suggesting he is a liar as evidenced by his own words, he was not offered a scholarship. You have a tendency of just making up arguments, where did I imply he could not get into west point? the guy is smart, but he lies, a lot. He also has some wacky ideas and his fiscal policies make no sense, it's like he has been studying to be a doctor not an economist.
He has been caught lying about his past, his violent history, mannatech, he gave a speech at their conference then denied affiliation when shit hit the fan.
He is a manipulator.
-
I see this thread is still going and you idiots still haven't figured out that the left fabricated the story. But you'll give Obama and Killary a pass.

Manipulator of what? His mother verified the near-stabbing incident in an article done 18 years ago.
If Westmoreland told him that all he has to do is apply to West Point and it's a done deal, that (to anyone with an ounce of common sense, especially since Carson was Detroit's #1 JROTC guy) is a scholarship offer.
Having had something similar happen to me, I can relate to what Dr Carson is saying, thus making your claim that he's lying about this utterly ludicrous.
And what exactly has hit the fan? Carson raised over $3 million since this hack job surfaced and he now leads Trump in South Carolina.

The idea of an official from a school, telling a kid that he gets a full ride and applying is a mere formality (about which I know firsthand) zips over their heads.

I agree. This is pretty stupid. I've been offered numerous jobs that were never formal offers. That kind of stuff happens all the time.
-

yet he never applied nor was ever offered an appointment to West Point
In fact he was never even nominated and it's not clear that the Chief of Staff on the Army can even nominate someone.
West Point website indicates it would have to have been the Secretary of the Army
And I guess you assume that EVERYONE who is nominated (again Carson never was) always gets accepted and applying is a "mere formality"
I wonder if the Army considers it a mere formality as well?

Please!!
Those closest to the situation make the recommendation. If the lower-level folks OK, the upper-level guys basically sign off on it, just to get it off their desks.
During my military tenure, if my leading petty officers and Chiefs approve leave for junior sailors in my division, I simply approved it and passed it up to my Department Head. Barring some emergency or unusual situation, the executive officer and commanding officer OKs the leave request.
Heck, in most cases, it never makes it to them because they've authorized the department heads to be the final stop on leave requests.
-
Carson claimed westmoreland was there and extended the offer.
Was westmoreland actually there?

ok, you want to fantasize that Westmoreland would have then had to ask the Secretary of the Army (or someone else on that list to nominate him)
fine, let's entertain your fantasy
then Carson would have had to apply
of course he was never nominated and never applied
then he would have had to compete against all the other applicants
again, he was never nominated and never applied
but all that is just a mere formality
I met an astronaut when I was a kid and he told me one day I could be an astronaut too
I now tell people NASA offered me a job as an astronaut but I turned them down

Exactly. He never said he applied. He made up his mind he was going to either Harvard or Yale.
The offer was informal and he never followed up on it .You now have six toes.

And lost in all of this, neither Straw nor 240 can give a motive as to why Carson would need to lie about this, as it has been his life story long before he even ran for president.

how about writing a self aggrandizing autobiography
McWay - please pace yourself. There are going to be many more lies of Carson's that you're going to feel compelled to defend. You don't want to burn yourself out too soon.
BTW - I think we all know pathological liars in our life. They have no need for a motive to lie. They are just liars. That is who they are. We all know these people

yeah, that's a huge "backlash"

Four toes and counting. You would think after seeing the beating CNN and Politico took, you wouldn't be silly enough to push their same narrative.
Of course, their motive for lying about Carson is easy. Carson has become a/the GOP front-runner and has a good shot at beating H. Clinton next year.

Three toes and counting. Check the headline Politico put up Friday. Now look what it is now.
COMPLETELY DIFFERENT!!!
Politico claimed that Carson's campaign admitted to fabricating the West Point story. That was complete BS, which his campaign and Carson himself shot down in mere hours.
After Politico got beat up for spewing that garbage, their hacks tucked their tails between them legs and changed their "exclusive" to merely state what Carson said from the start.
How do you stand by your story when you change the headline, after a claim that Carson confessed to fabrication blows up in your face, and make a statement that's only been in Carson's book for TWENTY-FIVE YEARS?
-
Westmoreland - was he at the dinner as Carson claimed?

you did read beyond the headline....right?

I've bee in reality. You're the one late to the party. Politico changed their story and headline after they got burned, when Carson and his campaign struck back.
You don't stick by the story by changing the headline (the very crux of their so-called exclusive).
They claimed that Carson admitted to fabricating the a West Point story. That was bogus. Sticking by the story would be for Politico to MAINTAIN that Carson admitted to this alleged fabrication.
I suggest you stop your clue-free diet. It ain't healthy.

Is the "change" you're talking about where Politico completely stands by the story
that is in fact a "change" that was not in the original story
Carsons campaign conceded he never applied and Politico reported that as their campaign conceding he had fabricated the story.
That is a totally valid characterization of his statement because in order to receive "a full scholarship" he would have first had to have been nominated, then applied and then accepted.
None of those things happened ....thus Carson lied and the story of his offer of full scholarship is a fabrication
Politico changed their headline to report that Carsons campaign said their statement was not a concession of fabrication but Politico stands by the story (which is why it was not retracted) and simply reported the campaigns new claim
Let me know if I've missed anything

Carson did admit some things in his book weren't true.

Adding a big name like westmoreland to the mix- that's an embellishment, not a mistake.
When all these little mistakes have a coincidental habit of raising his legend and credibility, we stop believing in simple errors.
