Actual press release

Two-time Arnold Classic champion Kai Greene will compete in Columbus for the first time since 2010 when he headlines a field of 13 of the world’s best professional men’s bodybuilders at the 2016 Arnold Classic, the Arnold Sports Festival announced today. The Arnold Sports Festival and the IFBB Pro League today announced the invited athletes who will compete in the Arnold Classic, Arnold Classic 212, Fitness International, Figure International and Bikini International. The Arnold Classic Men’s Physique and Women’s Physique International contests are open in 2016 and will feature more than 100 combined athletes. All events will be held March 4-5 at the 2016 Arnold Sports Festival.

Greene won the Arnold Classic in 2009 and 2010 and finished second in Arnold Classic Europe in 2013. He also finished second in the Olympia in 2012, 2013 and 2014 but did not compete in any IFBB Pro League contests in 2014. Branch Warren, who won the Arnold Classic in 2011 and 2012, is also among the field of 13. Lukas Wyler earned an automatic invitation for winning the 2015 Arnold Amateur and Fouad Abiad earned an invitation with his win at the 2015 Europa Orlando. In the Arnold Classic 212, defending champion Jose Raymond leads a field of 8 professionals. Hidetada Yamagishi, who finished second in 2015, and Charles Dixon, who finished fifth last year, are also in the field.

In the Fitness International, two-time defending champion Oksana Grishina and 2013 winner Tanji Johnson headline a field of 12. Grishina also finished first in the Arnold Classic Europe in 2014 and 2015 and has won seven straight IFBB Pro League contests. Arnold Amateur champion Giorgia Fiorini earned an automatic invitation to her first Fitness International.

In the Figure International, defending champion Camala Rodriguez-McClure and Candice Keene, who won in Columbus in 2013 and 2014, lead a field of 14. Janaina Ferreira da Silva, who won the overall at the Arnold Amateur in 2015, earned an automatic invitation.

There will be a new champion in the Bikini International after Ashley Kaltwasser, the event’s only two-time champion, did not enter. Justine Munro, who finished second in 2015, and Janet Layug, third last year, lead a field of 13. India Paulino, who finished fourth last year, is also expected to contend.

For the first time, the Arnold Classic Men’s Physique and Women’s Physique International contests are open and do not require an invitation. More than 40 will compete in Arnold Classic Men’s Physique and more than 60 will compete in Women’s Physique International. Visit www.arnoldsportsfestival .com for the complete competitor lists.

The Arnold Classic 212, Fitness International, Figure International and Physique International will be held on Friday, March 4, 2016; while the Arnold Classic, Arnold Classic Men’s Physique and Bikini International will be held on Saturday, March 5, 2016 with prejudging and finals at Battelle Grand

Branch won't rest until he's torn every muscle, looks like a literal giant-turd-pile-with-veins come to life and his organs fully liquify and drip out his anus, staining his glittery thong.

Go get 'em, "Branch"!

What a pathetic competitor list, as well.

I actually think that's a good list.  Some newer guys like Montgomery and Compton and some old timers in there like Centopani.  Let's just hope that branch doesn't get a gift placing.  I don't see how he can even compete anymore.

Many of the physique people are pissed because it's anybody and everybody competing. Like I told them from a business standpoint it makes sense to me because it seems they're trying to push physique as the next big thing...especially as lee Thompsons thing goes on. Say what you want but he's modernizing his shows

I don't think mens bodybuilding is going the way of women's bodybuilding yet because there is no alternative. Mens physique is terrible and isn't comparable to women's physique but maybe that's why they created classic physique to have posing and showing legs.

Mens physique and bikini should be at the expo and not on the main stage.

That's very unfair, he brings this to the stage:

AZURE, How is Lee Thompson 'modernizing' the Nspire events?

I took a look at his website and was not impressed. But it's a start.

From what I've seen he's making it into an event. He's got the screens with digital promotion for sponsors and also so people can see the competitors like at the Olympia. The last local NPC/IFBB show I went to was very amateurish. It had the high school musical feel to it. I also like the scores being flashed in real time like they do in real subjective sports

He also got a performer to come to his show which is very good for his first time out which o father was just a test for the new League

Lee seems to know what we all know. The delusional bikini and physique people is where the money is both for the "athletes" and all the family and friends that show up. So what if he doesn't have any bodybuilding right now. That's not where the money is

I don't think he will be any less corrupt than the IFBB but maybe this will force the IFBB to step their game up

Wow, the suffering must be strong with a conditioning like that. His priority on stage is ab control, which is hard with his medical history.

Jose comes in peeled, grainy and veiny, and has wheels to match. David has never had great legs, and I'm not so sure he'll suddenly grow them now... He also never comes in crazy peeled like Jose. David has a great physique, but Jose is just on another level.

Jose vs David reminds me a bit to Dorian vs Ronnie -> graininess vs roundness.
So far, both guys look ready, but anything could happen during that last critical week.

Didn't see the show in person, but from all the pics I've seen on several different sites, I definitely would have placed John Meadows in the Top 5. I don't know what criteria the judges used but incredible conditioning couldn't have been one of them. Kudos to John for a great 1st pro showing.

LUCKY, I also did not see the contest, but here is an attempt to answer your " I don't know what criteria the judges used but...."
statement.

This could lead to a good number of arguments but the most simple answer is that "It's all a matter of comparison".

Each judge simply compares each contender to each other contender and makes a decision within his own mind as to whom is the best contender down to whom is the 'worst' and all the other contenders in between.

Then each of those individual 'decisions' are combined with the other judges' individual decision ...... and then 'combined together' in order to determine the overall winner.

It definitely gets a bit more complicated but that is the simple answer which some of the GetBig "judges" may or may not agree with.

I hope that WIGGS will butt in here and make a statement as I consider him to be a damn good 'test judge' based on his 'unofficial , who's gonna place where performance?'  as observed at the Cutler Desert Classic prejudging session a couple of weeks back.

Many years ago the actual 'computation process' in which the individual judges' decisions were used to determine the placing of each contender .... was  the one and only method that was unquestionably the best method possible.

A group of us 'know it alls' tried to improve it .... but found it impossible!

It appears that those who continue to 'question it' simply do not know how it's done ... so they continue to question it.

AMEN!

OH YEA! I also gotta state that many of us still want to judge a contest by comparing photographs which often appears 'valid' , but this only appears to be 'useful' at art exhibits during museum fund rising functions ...... and internet arguments related to political placings!

But ,,,, John photographs well which possibly refutes everything I mentioned above.

Maybe the sanctioning bodies will start a new division in which every judge will have a polaroid type camera and base their decisions by comparing the photographs.

But .... I think not!
