NO one in the golden era had small pecs. They all had massively developed pec muscles. Even the sub-par guys did. It was due to heavy bench press. I've noticed that guys in the modern era have tiny little bitch tits. Do they even do the bench press anymore, or is that too much hard work for them?
-
Intensity is way down with most of these guys. Like they are all half asleep due to massive gh doses. You see some guys not lifting heavy just stressing the muscle whether it's flies hammer strength machine etc.
-
This is just another one of those "no school like the old school" rants, isn't it?
Look, we all get it: the old guys worked harder and looked better. And they did it with no juice. Just give it a fucking rest already.

But they all had small legs compared to the competitors of today.

How do you know it was due to heavy bench? They also did other exercises. Maybe it was due to dumbbell presses.
Its a myth perpetuated by people who love Arnold. Arnold had a huge chest and he was known for his bench press. Therefore, if you want a huge chest, bench press. ::) ::)
-
The guys of today have big chests, but they also have big guts and wide waists to go with it. So the illusion is a smaller chest. But I really don't think any bodyparts of the 70s guys are bigger. They just brought a more pleasing to the eye package.
-
For some reason, guys in the 70's didn't tear their pecs while doing bench presses.
Eventually, the flat bench press started tearing pectoral muscles. And incline presses took over.

This is a good observation. And its not like they lifted light. Ric Drasin could do mid 400s flat and he inclined 150dbs on video. And he was one of the smaller guys...
-
Maybe most of the guys believed in train and today most of them believe now on sustances...

Branch and JOJ (especially JOJ), have some of the biggest pecs per bodyweight. Also, that is JOJs freak bodypart, and yes he does bench press and floor presses.

That validates my point.

Its all about oversized seo delts these days, no chest or vacuum.

Phil Heath and his bird chest is a good example
On his phone for the whole workout and talks to the hammer strength press

I'm going to agree with this. Guys are a lot heavier, and blocker, and that throws the lines way off. Also the arms and delts are overblown with the help of synthol.
If you look at a lot of the early pics of the guys now, when they were lighter and less oily(lol), they are closer to the 70's standard.

Yep, big delts, along with big waists. Kai actually has a big chest, and is known for some big lifts, but his big waist/gut takes away from his chest. Ronnie Coleman also had a big, thick chest. And his brother Cory Mathews does as well (although, both have the droopy lower pec thing).

Puny shoulders compared to the monsters today

Puny shoulders compared to the monsters today
Yep. Big shoulders give a look of width, and to an extent, power. Big pecs give a look of thickness, density, and power. I guess ideally, both would be good. But, if I had to pick, it would be big pecs. All the guys from the late 60s to 70s look better aesthetically than they do today.

ok

I think it has a lot to do with today's guys using a lot of test and tren which seems to go straight to the shoulders and the old school guys used more d-Bol & deca. Shoulders are worked with chest and back and somewhat with squats and deads. Also seo use
