YouTube will not continue to send payouts to these so called "YouTube Celebrities" so what will they do next. The reality is that YouTube no longer needs these dimwits to publicize their already huge monster. The majority of them would not be qualified to work a real job. I see a lot of desperate "vloggers" searching for a dollar in the near future.

I noticed that the Genova stocks have been plummeting, now we know why. :-[

Youtube needs them as much as they need youtube.

People think these celebs on youtube are just recording themselves out of their homes but a lot of them are backed by real production studios making it look "homemade". How do you think a video no one has ever heard of gets promoted as "viral" on the news and all of a sudden goes from 10 hits to 10 million. It's all production marketing.
-
I hope this is true

Most people who are making significant money on youtube are signed to entities known as multi-channel networks. New content is the biggest driver of youtube views and they couldn't really afford to lose popular vloggers to another site.

You think the attention whores who post there would stop posting if the payouts stopped, if so you're delusional. YouTube will continue to attract new content regardless of payouts. Those handouts to talent less dimwits will undoubtedly end soon. Sorry to those who thought they "nailed" their career. ::)

Not true....Youtube makes billions from them and doesn't have to pay an actual dime to them....just tiny percent like about .005.

To consistently produce content (even if it's content you don't think much of) takes a lot of time and effort, and in some cases, a good deal of money. The majority of the top 25 youtube videos from last 2 years were created by production companies. Youtube will continue to attract new content, but the best produced content that people are actually watching will migrate to other services.
eta or it would migrate to other services if these thread was true. It isn't. As I said, it won't happen because youtube needs vloggers as much as they need youtube.

These videos draw eyeballs.
More eyeballs, more revenue.
It's a win-win for youtube and the content providers.
It only changes if people don't watch.
Guessing youtube not paying is just an OP theory?
-
Doubt it. This is youtubes recipe for success. To move away from that would be incredibly dumb.
Another site would just spawn to take over where they left off.

that'll happen eventually, regardless. maybe youtube is making the FB move and slashing everything to 'cash out'... while continuing to make $, it's gone from a people thing to a company thing in the past year. "organic" posts have been replaced with sponsored posts for the most part. companies like HuffPo are getting killed on FB this year since they shifted models. Makes sense that youtube would switch models at some point.

I hope that now Blaha has to live on Ramen noodles and penis sammiches!

No, it doesn't . Facebook is a social network. Youtube is a video site. Youtube needs higher quality video content because they can't sell ads against cell phone cat videos.

Youtube announced a while back they wanted to charge suscribers like a cable service. They are trying to get live TV streams on youtube. They see the money hulu and such are making and want in. They'll start paying people based on a subscription model instead of ads.

No. Nothing is guaranteed except death and taxes. Anyone who believes YouTube needs to continue to pay "vloggers" is foolish. Tick tock. If these "Celebs" don't have a back-up plan they better get one soon.

You do realize that FB pays these people too, right making it impossible for youtube to stop or else the youtube stars will not publish to youtube only videos telling you to visit their FB videos.
You seem to not understand how anything works online. You are telling people that mastered the art of making money to have a backup plan? Give your little speech to the avg. american who is a paycheck away from homelessness.
