My forearms were one of my strongest body part, to the point I have never trained them
Ok , for the past 6 years they've been shrinking! I noticed though about 2 years ago, I'm 42 so I don't expect to b as big as I was in my 20's, but my biceps triceps are still there (thank God)
I've notice some champs like Jay Cutler and Branch are some of the bodybuilders whose forearms have been getting smaller also...
Maybe Kai Greeen too ?
I have not started training forearms yet, but .....will that even help ?
Is it Muscle wasting ?
Has anyone experience something similar ?

I've experienced this also, but in my biceps too... I don't have the same pop in my arms when I train anymore, just a dull pump, whereas it used to be pop out the skin/battery acid type feeling... I'm 35 so I'm experiencing it earlier than you

Friday I ate at around 4 pm then at 6 pm started drinking , then went to a party around 9pm and drank till about 3 am so next time I ate was saturday at around 11 am ....
Last night was smoking a cigar and drank a bottle of wine and while inhaling THE CIGAR ; a friend took a picture, and my forearm just looks painful to watch ...not saying that has anything to do with my Forearms wasting away but wanted to throw that there too .

Inevitable w most of us. I work a job where I am yanking, pulling and pushing all day long. I think I've suffered a lot of micro trauma plus two bulged discs in my neck doesn't help. Then some nerve damage due to a botch shoulder surgery in my left.
But yea. It sux. Age. My forearms start way higher than they used to and the gap between my elbow and triceps has gotten bigger. I look at pix from just 10 years ago and what a difference. We'll all be skeletons one day anyway I guess. I'll be 52 in a couple mos. hope that helps.

This. Wrist curls are good too, but I've also gotten a ton out of years of hammers

Hammers hurt my elbows bad after a few weeks.

Often caused by mild spinal stenosis.
Most seem to get some sort of C4/C5 issue and then forearms, hands, and triceps can go.
Often just a unilateral problem.
Better this than heart disease!

I haven't been ujsing straps as I'm not really lifting heavy lately I practically took the whole month of January off to avoids the new years resolution crowd ......
I will start training them
Btw, Here's a recent arm workout by Kai Green from last week actually, notice how much attention he is paying to forearms and it looks more like a therapy training for forearms, light weight good form but by his facial expression looks a bit painful also,

I have a horrible cervical spine injury I've mentioned here before. I started to lose strength in my left arm in 2011 and the pain was excruciating. I had a spinal epidural and began training my ass off. I'm over 50 and even with that I have no forearm size loss.
I do a lot of forearm work and hammers. I have trained with AJ and he has seen me curl 80's for reps. He also knows how much I struggle with cervical spine pain. I need the same surgery Manning had.

That's great ! Forearm looking big and vascular.

41 & have not noticed any shrinking. Attribute that to consistent masturbating (at least 4-5 times a week) utilizing BOTH arms focusing on forearm contractions.
Doesn't always feel as good with my left (I'm right handed), but I suck it up & you do get better with your left... Trust me.

I like squeeze so usually eight to ten reps. At the end of the workout I get on the pre load preacher and do 100 reps 5/20.

Great forearms Bro! You and Hazbin should start a best forearms thread!!

Here's a pic of H's monstrous appendage for those who may have forgotten. I think he's right up there in forearm development with Frank McGrath!!

It's from lack of manual labor. Most of you nancys sit behind a desk all day and then expect to have big forearms from the 45 minute workout. Try acting like real men instead of grooming your beards and playing on your iPad all day.

You raise a fair point, most of my workmates who don't train have forearms that look to be larger than their upper arms

I get paid well to lead engineers. It's a mostly sedentary job that allows me to have a comfortable life and train. Why would I want to take a 90% pay cut to dig ditches?

Actually, after checking out some pics of McGrath's arm I honestly have to say that HAZBIN has the BEST FOREARMS I have ever seen, literally. When I was a kid, Chuck Sipes had the best forearms but Hazbin has surpassed even them.

Take a decent weight that you can do 20 reps or so with and do wrisst curls......then set the bar down, count to 15 and do it again.....keep repeating until desired number of sets are done.
Killer pain involved so pull up your skirt! ;)

I worked in the ship yards as a mechanical fitter for 15 yrs swinging hammers etc, it starts being detrimental as you get lots of forearm/bicep strains

Thanks Wes he should have been a pro so I can't touch him. I am happy with what i've been able to mold over 50 with all the spinal issues.
Forearm work actually helps my elbows just like calf work helps knees!

Seated/standed calf raises helped with your knee pain? Could you elaborate please?

Direct tibialis anterior work helps massively with dorsiflexion. All gyms should have a tib raise machine lurking in one small corner.

Bro, you cropped out Trump's hair.

my forearms used to be probably my best body part for a few years. this was more simply the fact that when i was training biceps i was using way to much forearm and grip aswell as with some other exercises. when i finally figured out how to train properly my forearms did shrink a tad but my arms grew so it really was not to much of a let down.
Also i noticed when i am dehydrated or not concentrating my water intake i notice my forearms are much smaller.
Winstrol always makes my forearms pop nicely though

This. Guy I know is competing in strongman and works in the piping industry (hahaha). Handling heavy tools all day long has given him very thick and calloused hands -- yet he now has to quit strongman because of nerve problems from all the strains he has gotten from work. Grip used to be his strongest asset, now it's what always lets him down. Sad to see.
