I thought that quote about getting 4 reps was fake. ..... :-\

what a disaster

He will be rowing 6 plates again in no time. Yeah buddy!

How many surgeries has this guy had?

really puts the fitness in ifbb

How many surgeries has this guy had?
Idk man, everytime you read news from the guy he either just had a baby or just had a surgery :D
-
What, is Ronnie done for? Paralyzed?

I hope this is the last of surgery.
I mean, if he can continue lifting heavy without any major problems, that is fine. But if lifting heavy is going to lead to more surgeries, he should scale it back.
-
He almost died for you bitches.
I had to go through a similar thing years back when I broke both my legs (and arm) in a motorcycle accident. Hospital bed for the longest time, then eventually progressed into a wheel chair, and after about a month I was getting therapists to assist me standing up and bearing weight, and eventually walking. Walker at first, then crutches. Humiliating, but it has to be done. Not always a fast process.
-
Ronnie is deluded, health is one of the most important things in life and now he doesn't have it, his body is wrecked. He probably would have looked the same by scaling back the ridiculous poundages and as the saying goes it's supposed to be bodybuilding not body destroying

Exactly. I understand him saying that he had 4 reps of 800 pound squats in him, but
He can't enjoy life now. There are 60-90 year olds that have better mobility than him.
Sure, many people have not accomplished what he has done, but as Shawn Ray had said, he wouldn't trade 8 Mr. O titles for the health that Ronnie has now.
-
He had a back surgery to repair a broken screw and they had to take some bone out also - 11 hours in surgery. That is a loooong time under anesthesia and it shows the operation was no joke either.
It is amazing to me he was off the wheelchair already after such a long surgery - most people can`t handle pain that well, it takes a lot of fighting spirit.
Anyone who thinks athletes in different sports on a professional level don`t pay the heavy price also is fooling himself. Look at wrestling,football,athletics,.. the deadpool and permanent injuries/consequences are countless.
-
Ronnie's medical bills must be through the roof. Does the IFBB cover the healthcare costs for its athletes? What is Chick doing about this?
-

He's still moving weight like only a retard can, so he might end paralyzed within 5 years
-
where do you see your self in 12 years?
-
last pic i saw of ronnie he was learning to walk again for the umpteenth time.
-
At least I'm sure the IFBB athletes union solidified a comfortable health plan for veteran retirees.
-
No weight baby!!!!
-
It's all relative, just being able to move and function in life is a blessing that we don't see often.
But when you are close to losing that ability, several times, shouldn't you start going for the health look at some point?
-
Don't be fucking assholes guys, Big Ronnie is not Joe from Family Guy with or without his cop uniform
-
It is amazing to me he was off the wheelchair already after such a long surgery - most people can`t handle pain that well, it takes a lot of fighting spirit oxycodone

Am I the only one that feels sorry for him? He is a wreck. He paid a big price being the best.
-
He exprienced what it is to be the greatest at something, not many people have this chance. But the price is big in this case. Poor fella, but I think he's pretty well off financially, that will help him to keep it together.
-
Am I the only one that feels sorry for him? He is a wreck. He paid a big price being the best.
I feel for the guy for sure. Can you imagine if he lives pass 80, all the pain he will endure most probably :-\

Ronnie thought he was indestructible, but unfortunately for him he's no Markus Ruhl 8)
-

No your not alone. I really like Ronnie and discussed how painful this was the first time I can't imagine now after that length of OR time. His hips were done just a few weeks apart and prior to that he had his cervical spine fused. He has spent a long time under anesthesia which is likely the only time he is pain free.

No one would've come out healthy of what Coleman did.
He wanted to know.
Now he knows.
No regrets.
Not nice to look at but you got to pay the price...
Anyway much respect.

Trained hard nonetheless.
Torn half his muscles...

Post a pick of Philsulin when he is this age, we'll see who looks better.
Owning yourself in your own posts. Doz looks healthy there.
-
fixed...
That`s true but at some point nothing helps, Ronnie said it for the previous surgery that no pain killer really worked, the pain was still there.
Surgeries can make a giant feel like a mouse, it can be that humbling.
He really should focus on health only and his fans need to get a reality check also about life after retirement, he can`t do what he used to do, it isn`t healthy.
-
Goes to show lift like Jay, Phil and the Dexter..... Who cares about lifting insane weights, just to impress people

If the surgery was 11 hours, maybe something went wrong? A lot of major surgeries don't take even half that long.
Not to mention the surgery is already complicated by the fact that he's a big guy with very thick muscles.

Agree, such a long surgery time suggest some complications during the operation or the difficult nature of it. When some people say he is a wreck when they see the post-op video, they don`t realize how much that takes out of you.
Ronnie`s progress after all those operations is phenomenal, back, neck and hip surgeries take some time to heal. It is not easy to handle the drop of strength/mobility mentally after post surgery/ies, because it takes time and lots of willpower to progress ahead.

he almost destroyed his stomach lining.
From the aspirin in his eca stack. ::)

thing with ronnie is, he keeps training with heavy weights he really cant handle anymore hes going to wind up a cripple.

0b1 i dont care if some of his nuthuggers on here get pissed , but the way he trains is dangerous, a natural that isnt on the boat loads of drugs he was and still is on , will wind up with some bad injuries training like he did and still does.

He is kind of crazy.
But I respect his extreme all or nothing, no compromise-style.
-
he has nothing to prove yet he continues to prove that if you don't respect your body you will destroy it, all he does is make things worse for himself, something wrong with his mentality there.

you got that right bro, hes going to wind up a cripple in a wheel chair, even worst you will have a bunch of idiots on here saying oh it was worth it, what did you accomplish in your life etc.
he needs to accept he is old , weak and damm near crippled. and should just train light and moderate, and enjoy life. what quality is life

Ronnie is living in denial ..... to be in a wheelchair having a nurse assist you to go to the toilet its embarrassing for someone that was considered the the strongest bodybuilder in the planet ...
What's really sad is him saying he doesn't have any regrets ... the man has kids to support and they need a functional father by their side, like every kid...yet he only regrets not squatting 800lbs for 4 reps 16 years ago ....
Knowing that lifting all that 'heavy ass weight" was totally irrelevant in a business you're judged by the way you look and nothing more ... worse yet, his best physique were 98,99 before messing with that record breaking liftings" he cou'lve have broken the Mr.O record had he trained smart....now he is living a painful life ... can't even put the seatbelt on in his own car without discomfort, cant bend over to tie his damn shoes etc things the average senior citizen do everyday to go to the store .....
And to make matter worse, even if he was able to pull 4 reps with 800 there's tons of people that think Frank Zane was a better bodybuilder than Ronnie! not given a flying fuck how much he benched or squatted in his hey days '
Again, Nothing positive to gain besides exposing his Ego and bragging to his fans ...had he done 4 reps with 800lbs, today he'd be handicapped regretting not being able to try 6 reps with 900lbs...and so on
Same mentality applies for those pro bodybuilders that today have a weak heart, failing organs due to years of heavy drug use and their only regret is they should have "upped the dose at their prime'
A big red flag for all the youngsters following king Ronnie on social media trying to emulate his "work ethic"
Woosshhhhhh BE YE KE

x2.
Ronnie did what he had to do to win 8 Mr. Olympias. I'm not going to fault him for that. In those moments, he pushed his body like most extreme people do who want to be number 1. However, at this point in his life, there is also a point of self-reflection. He needs to respect his body a little more. If you're having surgery every few months, its time to consider changing bad habits, especially if these many surgeries continue to be the product of past and current heavy lifting.

Ronnie will end up like a physical version of Bill Pettis. Bill is not all there in the head, and doesn't have a good body anymore, but is like homeless and still likes to walk around in trunks, while doing FDB poses.
Ronnie is in denial, and his body is falling apart due to him not accepting that his lifting days are over. Bill's mind is gone, and Ronnie's physique is gone, yet still both believe that they are still in the game somehow.

Coleman is retarded. Given his penchant for impregnating women he may well wind up exactly like Pettis, i.e., homeless, worn out and retarded. He has done this to himself.

Thanks for that. I had thought it was going to be a long time on the table for him because it was brain surgery and they knew going in that it would be difficult to find a brain within that huge noggin of Coleman's.

Or, he could have just lifted "lighter" to stay in shape and remain active.
Again, he did what he had to do to become 8x mr olympia. I wont fault him for that. But to continue on this path and ignore doctors order (I ASSUME his doctors are telling him not to go crazy with the weights) is just crazy. How many more surgeries must he have before he realizes this?

Haney didn't try to max out like Ronnie all the time. Ronnie is still ego lifting in his head and he can't walk. Talking about being a coward because he didn't do 2 more reps? ::) get the fuck out of here.

I can relate to him. I had surgery to two herniated discs in my neck a year ago. In the gym is very hard to restrain myself from training like i always did. I must remind myself i should only use girl weights and concentrate on the pump.

Lately I hear lots of people getting disc hernias surgeries, seems like it is common (all athletes of some sort).
Ronnie`s type of training really isn`t the best way for someone who lifts for the looks or being fit. Haney said it best - stimulate, don`t annihilate.
As far as maintaining you previous glory, that just isn`t possible when you have so many injuries as Ronnie has, not to mention the stress on the body trying to stay big. Matthias Steiner is a good example of retired but still fit and strong without putting a ton of stress on the body:

It's sad. I don't know how anybody could think this would end well when they saw the way he was training after the last surgery. I hope it is all worth it to him...but to me it sounds like he should to be talking to a psychologist.

Evidently, Ronnie is reluctant to acknowledge that it was not his training for his Olympia wins that snapped the screws in his spine. He tries to make his stupidity seem noble by linking it to his career, instead of being resultant from his post career idiocy.

Lee Haney is not in the same state Ronnie is in.
To be fair Haney's era was a different one right before the need for size eclipsed everything. The 90's onwards the goal was to get as big and ripped as humanly possible, combining powerlifting and bodybuilding essentially. Bodybuilders being bodybuilders did what they had to do.

ronnie is still very lean and vascular he has superior african genetics
problem is, he is old crippled and weak. he needs to accept this and just train moderate or light and stay in shape.
his videos now are pathetic he uses weight he cant even handle properly even worst he has idiots around him , who encourage him to do this

he still trains with huge younger guys who move a lot of weight,,to a former 8x mr o watching a younger guy push weights you toyed with like say a 160 or 180 lb db press and he does his set then you pull a 100 lb db press 'i'm sure to him it messes with his head'..he should train to a lesser extent but he still has the mindset to do otherwise..
-
I think pressing 100lbs dumbells is a serious challenge to him nowadays. He will need more surgeries in the future.
Ronnie's cognitive abilities have also diminished in my opinion over the years. He might have some sort of neurological disorder. He has good team around him and I'm sure they're doing all the work behind the curtain. Big Ron can be in his comfort zone shouting yip yip yeah buddy 8-time Mr. Olympia.
Sad how mighty has fallen :( :'(

He will go to the grave with a better body than I'll ever achieve.... probably later this month

In 1-3 years he'll be totally confined to a wheelchair.

To be fair Haney's era was a different one right before the need for size eclipsed everything. The 90's onwards the goal was to get as big and ripped as humanly possible, combining powerlifting and bodybuilding essentially. Bodybuilders being bodybuilders did what they had to do.
Back then they used to think Haney was as big as it was going to get, same thing with Arnold and Sergio during their years.

Post a pick of Philsulin when he is this age, we'll see who looks better.
Owning yourself in your own posts. Doz looks healthy there.
Phil will have better arms.

Correct. Haney and Arnold never sported a double chin.

Ha has an amazingly positive attitude. Got to respect that.

Olympia.
Sad how mighty has fallen :( :'(
Nah probably just bombed out on Oxycodone and muscle relaxers. Couldn't even imagine the pain he's in.

To this very day no BB video ever came close to "The Unbelieveable" and "Cost of Redemption" in terms of motivation and inspiration. And we got 2016 now.

'motivation and inspiration'? The kitchen/eating scenes were pretty long-winded/boring to watch. When it comes to training, nothing beats Dorian's Blood & Guts and DJ's Back to basics vids.

True. Really unbelieveable.

Coleman has had more needles in him in a single day than a Ronald Reagan Voodoo Doll at the 1976, 1980 and 1984 Democratic National Conventions combined. His Road to Dialysis has more detours to ICU.
Thankyew Jayzus, indeed...

Those long clips of him slowly poking away at a frying pan full of egg whites with a spatula is cinematic gold.

Just insane.

The blonde physical therapist looks decent, she needs to be careful not to get stabbed by one of his elbows.
;D

Arnold and Haney were as big as it got before the fat look element started to be accepted
Agreed. Haney at 260 pounds and 5'11", had a vacuum that rivalled even that of Frank Zane.

He will be posting some update videos on youtube :
