To be fair Haney's era was a different one right before the need for size eclipsed everything. The 90's onwards the goal was to get as big and ripped as humanly possible, combining powerlifting and bodybuilding essentially. Bodybuilders being bodybuilders did what they had to do.

Back then they used to think Haney was as big as it was going to get, same thing with Arnold and Sergio during their years.

Ronnie's cognitive abilities have also diminished in my opinion over the years. He might have some sort of neurological disorder.
