I find it hilarious that they vote for policies that keep them in poverty and that keep them from obtaining a better standard of life and achieving an education. Why does that matter...Romney got only 17 percent of the non-white vote. I think the Republicans are shooting themselves in the foot nominating an avowed racist in Trump. Hillary, while being possibly the weakest candidate in history, will have a field day with Trump. Personally, the best bet for Republicans is to nominate a conservative Hispanic or Asian with balls. Cruz is my guy except for his Evangelical ways. Peaco out.

Hey I do not disagree with you about Trump. I think he is using the Presidential run only to increase his personal finances. However, I do not think you need to dismiss the black vote so easily. If the same percentage of blacks vote as they did during the Obama terms, it will be very difficult for Trump to win. A lot of states swing Democrat solely because of the big city vote, ala Chicago and thus Illinois. However, I agree with you that Trump will ruin the Republican brand. However, voting Hillary Prez may ruin the Democratic brand. To be honest, Bloomberg doesn't look too bad right now.

TA, consider that blacks composed 13% of the voting population in 2012. Approximately 130 million Americans went to the polls that year. Just taking into account 10%, that is 13 million voters. Since Obama got 93% of the black vote, lets just say 9 million plus votes for him (it was slightly higher). If you look at the overall vote number, Obama beat Mitt by 5 million votes. If blacks did not matter, he would have lost by 4 million even considering Hispanics, Asians, etc. Whites voted more for Romeny. Hope that helps. Math is undeniable.

TA, consider that blacks composed 13% of the voting population in 2012. Approximately 130 million Americans went to the polls that year. Just taking into account 10%, that is 13 million voters. Since Obama got 93% of the black vote, lets just say 9 million plus votes for him (it was slightly higher). If you look at the overall vote number, Obama beat Mitt by 5 million votes. If blacks did not matter, he would have lost by 4 million even considering Hispanics, Asians, etc. Whites voted more for Romeny. Hope that helps. Math is undeniable.
Elections are not won with the popular vote.

You guys realize that the popular vote does not win elections, right?
Also, the black population in the United States is roughly around 13%. Even if we used US age statistics, that would mean 9% of the US population or 28 million people are black and able to vote (over 18). Even if every eligible black voter voted in 2012, they would only make up 20% of the vote. Assuming black voters turned out at roughly the same national average, of 58.8%, that quickly changes to roughly 13% black voter turn out. Roughly 6% of the total vote. Not enough to sway an election, especially given the electoral map.
