I actually killed my Vitamix but it took about ten years

I'd buy another one but I rarely make shakes anymore

As stated, the Vitamix ones are great, and have a 7 year warranty on the motor.   Costco routinely has them for about $369.

Blendtec is similar, I believe, but don't own one of those.

Blendtec has a good rep.  Definitely less $ than a Vitamix.  I've never used one tho.

Sounds like the wrong tool for the job.  I don't know why anyone would want to blend a block of frozen fish but I'd suggest a food processor for it.

Another vote for Vitamix.  Damn good blender.

You can be a real asshat about it and find an elderly relative who can get their doctor to Rx a script for one and save you 70% of the price too.

I've used the cheap ass blenders my whole life. I only changed them as they got so disgusting looking. Frozen berries and stuff were put it, worked all the time.

Just read someone put in frozen fish blocks. So how do those fish shakes taste? Gonna assume they taste like fish...

Vitamix or Blendtec.  Pretty much the two industry standards.

I bought a Blendtec refurbished for around 250 I think.  The refurb has a 7 year full warranty.  I've got around 600 cycles on it so far, and it's running like a top.  I put all kinds of frozen shit in it.

That's a smoking deal.  It's also the exact same model I have.  I bought my refurb directly from blendtec, and it looked brand new.  I couldn't find any indication that it had been previously used.  Not really sure what was refurbed on it.

Cheap Oster blender at Target or Walmart does the trick. You can run through 15 of them before you'd approach the price of a Vitamix or Blendtec.

With stuff like that, it's the internal parts...they're not going to give a refurbed jar or anything.

The don't work nearly as well.   It's one of those things you don't realize until you become familiar with the high end models.  Vitamix will pulverize stuff, and you can juice with it, create hot soups, stuff like that.

Oster isn't in the same league.  For simple stuff like a protein shake, sure it's similar...but that's about it.

Sure as long as you can always nip on down to walmart and get another one.  How about after the financial collapse, sunshine?  Think you're just gonna jump in your little electric car and toodle on down the street?  When you gotta bug out you want to be relying on some chinesey blender to frappe a badger?

This.

People who buy these fancy blenders never even continue to use them to make healthy juices as it's a shit load of work and mess to clean after.

Uhhhhh, you have no idea what you're talking about.  It is not a shit load of work, it's barely any work at all.  It is not a shit load of mess.

I throw whatever I want in my blendtec.  Whole strawberries, rasberries, kale, protein, peanut butter, carrots, ice, spinach, bananas, some liquid, etc.  Press the button, walk away, come back a minute later and I have a perfectly smooth shake.  No mess, no time.  I drink the shake, and then rinse the blender.

I've used the oster, Hamilton beach, Cuisinart, etc.  They all sucked in comparison.  Hope this helps.

To be clear Vitamix stole Blendtec then quickly patented the idea and sued Blendtec for using their patent.  Just bullshit.

I understand the division between the high end super blender and the low end ghetto versions.  That was expected.

But we all need to align against the fish smoothie.   This is bullshit.   Easily replaced by vanilla protein powder and tasty peanut butter.

Have you ever used a blendtec?  There is no "taking it apart".  There is a lid, and a pitcher.  The pitcher, blade, etc are all one sealed unit.  You don't take anything apart.  Clean up goes like this:  Take the lid off and rinse it with hot water.  Next, rinse the pitcher with hot water.  Done.

If you can't do that, you might be the laziest fuck on this board.   :D

Aha, the standby Oster. Simple to use and still built to last. Mine is in the original color. Not so sure it can do what my daughter's Vitamix can, but the Oster blender is plenty good enough for me.
