Title: Predator-stars
Post by: Kwon_2 on April 17, 2016, 10:11:37 AM
Billy the Tracker
(http://oi68.tinypic.com/einrys.jpg)

In the 80s Sonny Landham had some impressive acting credentials: after starting out in porno flicks, the granite-faced star went on to appear in classic blockbusters such as 48 Hours and Predator, in the latter of which he played enigmatic muscleman tracker, Billy. Unfortunately, as a politician in the 2000s he was much less successful.

His attempt to win the governorship of Kentucky was cut short after he "called for genocide against Arabs and referred to them as 'ragheads'" (to quote Wikipedia).

This resulted in him being fired by the Libertarian Party of Kentucky, as even they aren't crazy enough to endorse that kind of crap. He has now gone back to his previously prolific career as an actor, but now appears in straight-to-DVD dreck.

You would have thought a Native American descendent would be more sensitive about a subject like genocide...

Dillon
(http://oi68.tinypic.com/ogvpg9.jpg)

Carl Weathers made his reputation playing rough-and-tough characters like Dillon in Predator and, even more notably, Apollo Creed from the Rocky film series.

Sadly, his action film star declined after the 90s as he began to increasingly move into TV and comedy roles, and the once-great action star and former football player now appears chiefly in self-parodying parts in commercials and TV comedies (although he did land a funny recurring role as himself in Arrested Development).

True he may not quite be a "nobody," but he's nothing like the face of 80s action that he once was, and mocking your earlier roles isn't really what you want to end up doing with your acting career. It's all a far cry from his gut-wrenching death in Rocky IV...

Mac
(http://oi68.tinypic.com/34f18x1.jpg)

Bill Duke's psychotic expression is so convincing it made him the scariest good guy in Predator, a movie which of course also featured Jesse Ventura, future governator Arnold Schwarzenegger, and an 8-foot tall invisible psychopath, as well as the aforementioned Carl Weathers and Sonny Landham (was that film cursed???).

He also did some sterling "acting" as co-henchman to Vernon Wells in the earlier action movie Commando. However, since the 90s Duke hasn't had many roles in movies and has gotten by mainly on TV guest appearances and directing his own critically panned movies.

Shockingly, he was responsible for Sister Act 2, a film which would have been better if they'd called it "The Fugees Unplugged" and cut out everything except the bits with Lauryn Hill singing.

Landham's a farked-up racist. What's his GB handle? Weathers was a real athlete, and Duke was the skinny Black Muslim from Car Wash. 1975?

Shane Black is writing and directing a new Predator film.

Black was the first victim of the Predator in the 1987 film. He acts a bit, writes and directs.

He directed Iron Man 3.

He created the Lethal Weapon franchise as well.

Quote
The Predator Current Status

In August 2015, producer John Davis said Shane Black’s script has a fresh perspective and will reinvent the franchise. At the end of November 2015, Fred Dekker confirmed that the script for Predator 4 had been “turned in”. On the 16th of February 2016, Shane Black confirmed Predator 4’s title was in fact The Predator. On February 28, 2015, Fox announced the release date as March 2, 2018.

The Director of The Predator

As stated above, Shane Black is slated to direct the new Predator reboot. Shane Black is no stranger to the franchise having played commando Hawkins in the 1987’s Predator. Most recently, he co-wrote and directed 2013’s Iron Man 3. Whilst promoting The Nice Guys, Shane Black spoke about how he became attached to The Predator, stating he hadn’t initially wanted the job despite Fox getting in contact and asking him to do it. It was Fox’s willingness to make a big budget, “spectacle” film that convinced Black to become involved.

looked it up, it's legit. it's going to be a sequel to the first movie, set in present day, 31 years after the events of the original film. i can't wait. i know i will be the only one who will like it tho, because i understand the general fundamentals of making "the same movie" with present day memes of our culture, the present day technology and overall knowledge of the world. the old heads who have no concept of this, just like they hated terminator genisis but loved terminator 1, will not like this film, but their opinions don't matter.

Dutch is in the dekker script and black confirmed they will be talking to him so it seems he's intended for this film. Done right this could be the best since the original, I agree and have said before dutch and harrigan should both appear as they have both killed one and can act as experts, plus get in on the action.

The problem is always the script.

Even Arnold's script was thin, but it was the best of the Predator films.

Shane Black is a pretty good writer. Kiss Kiss Bang Bang is a pretty good movie. And he created Lethal Weapon.

Hopefully, Black has written a decent script.

'Predator' actor Sonny Landham dead at 76

http://www.msn.com/en-us/movies/news/predator-actor-sonny-landham-dead-at-76/ar-AAqiZSE?li=BBmkt5R&ocid=spartandhp

NEW YORK — Sonny Landham, the muscular action-movie actor who co-starred in "Predator" and "48 Hrs," has died. He was 76.

Landham's sister, Dawn Boehler, said the actor died from congestive heart failure Thursday at a Lexington, Kentucky, hospital. Landham was a brawny, deep-voiced actor and stunt man who played a bit part in Walter Hill's 1979 street-gang thriller "The Warriors" before the director cast him as the trigger-happy criminal Billy Bear in 1982's "48 Hrs."

Landham, who was part Cherokee and Seminole, was perhaps most known for playing the Native American tracker Billy Sole in the 1987 Arnold Schwarzenegger film "Predator."

Landham entered the movie business after working in pornography in the '70s. Later in life, he attempted brief and unsuccessful political campaigns.

He's survived by his son, William, and daughter, Priscilla.

According to director John McTiernan, the studio was required to hire a bodyguard to follow Landham around during filming - something to do with insurance, I think.
Anyway, the bodyguard's job wasn't to protect Sonny; it was to protect OTHER people from Sonny. He had well-known reputation back then.

Van Damme, the first option for Predator

True.

Van Damme was the first choice, but it didn't work out.

Also, the first Predator suit was supposedly way different.

The director absolutely hated it.

So a new suit was ordered. They fired the first designer(s) and put it in the hands of the late, great FX master Stan Winston who designed and delivered the now iconic Predator design.

True, I'm only 60 but I still look good. Maybe in ten years I will crash.

Supposedly, his ego got in the way (allegedly pissed that his face would not be seen).

The suit re-design occurred after the effects team completed the alien's camo graphics, which is why in some scenes it's possible to make out the silhouette of the original Van Damme version.

Yeah, it was something I noticed years ago, but never gave it a thought.

I purchased the special anniversary edition DVD, on which Director John McTiernan provided commentary. He mentioned a lot of cool and interesting facts/trivia.

New trailer for The Predator (2018) is out.

It's a Red Band trailer.

I like Shane Black, but I am not feeling this at all.

The cast (minus Thomas Jane) seems awful.

The story of a new Predator coming to retrieve technology activated by a soldier's son seems terrible.

I expect more from Black, the creator of Lethal Weapon... and the first victim of the predator in the original film.

Here's the teaser for those that haven't seen it.

Not good. >:(

A one minute tv spot recorded during the NBA Finals.

Apparently, there is a new super Predator with modified DNA that may be sourced from humans. ::)

Are they remaking predator with an all female cast?  The actresses would have to be so brave.

His attempt to win the governorship of Kentucky was cut short after he "called for genocide against Arabs and referred to them as 'ragheads'" (to quote Wikipedia).

True story.

In the real world no one cares for black actresses or black females in general

from the trailer alot more promising than the last reboot made

although Hollywood don't cast and characters with big personalitys anymore. No Arnold or Stallone types.

The synopsis.

Quote
While on a routine mission to neutralize a specific human target, a marine (Boyd Holbrook) discovers a deceased Predator carcass. After discovering the body, he uncovers weapons and armor left behind by a Predator. Once he completes his mission, Holbrook brings the Predator equipment back home.

After his son (Jacob Tremblay) notices the alien gear, he accidentally activates some of the equipment, triggering a homing signal. Upon realization of the stolen technology, another Predator embarks on a mission to track down and reclaim the stolen technology so that it may not be exploited by human scientists.

The universe’s most lethal hunters have genetically upgraded themselves with DNA from other species.

Indeed, hope it's not too liberal , SJW or diverse.
