Title: 2016 NY Pro - Rudy Richards posts
Post by: rudylrichards on May 26, 2016, 09:23:12 PM
I got ragged on by Che and others for doing Tampa way out of shape last yr.  I promised GB I'd redeem myself being that I kind of represent us as one of the few pros that been posting here for awhile.  Wasn't 100%, wasn't happy with 13th & holding too much water.  Will be 100% next time.  Here are pics, this is GB so let the hate begin  :-*

See what the difference is when you come in shape? As someone said you have a good structure and look like you can hold more weight (although, refinement would be better).

Do you have an actual job other than bodybuilding?
Yes!! bodybuilding's never been my job, it's my hobby. will always be my hobby but plan on placing in the money later this season.

Very respectable.
thanks

I've been here quite awhile. I just don't post a lot. I've gotten into it with the great Squadfather, the not so great Special Ed, and the likes, I'm very familiar with GB

Thanks NA.  ILLUMINATI, I'm 5,11, 251 in those pics.

What's up Parker. I agree, I think I can do both though. Refinement & size as long as I take it slow.

Gonna need to know your stack and session rate.
stack, I'm natural like Skip, Lockett, etc  ;)

Was about to tear you apart but you don't look too bad. Not very wide but neither is phil Heath.
Lol, I'm actually very wide. It doesn't look that way because of the angle of the pics.

lol. Thanks. Onstage you actually have the worse angle so a competitor might not be the best to ask that Q. Rolley was so thick it's easy to see why he place 2nd. Vic is a friend of mine & I really like the guy so I'm not sure I'm  being the most objective but I think he did. I didn't get to see Max from my angle but I though he got robbed at the Arnold, he should've been 4th. Kulco & the kid that took 7th I though we're very impressive.

Damn!! You going way back. Believe it or not I've never train at Bev's gym. That was my only time there For that video I think I'm '04.

You need more mass in the lats. The thong stuffing is also disappointing. Would not hit.

Overall a very good look though. Not dry enough to win serious prizes, but overall a much better, healthier look.

You've got a great overall structure and a good stage presence.
Work on your mid back and your overall conditioning and you will place better next time, best of luck!

Rudy, these pics were taken about 10 years apart. What kind of gains do you still expect to make, and do you think they will be enough to propel you to the upper echelons of the sport?

Best of luck.
thats an excellent point/question. We will see, all I can do is try. I believe I can, nothing wrong with trying though.

Back is as flat as Wigg's 2nd favorite planet.
you're right. I said I wasn't happy with everything.

Why is a genuinely good bodybuilder posting on Getbig?!
A lot more bb'ers should post here, they just need thicker skin, not literally ofcourse, that doesn't look good onstage lol. Not everyone's gonna love your look or kiss your ass, that's why I like GB & post here. There are a lot of a**holes here but you'll get the truth instead of a jerk fest of ppl telling u how good you are.

Great physique -- Maybe a bit more overall back thickness would help.
Easier said than done at that level & after many years of training.
Very classic physique & at 5'11 & 250 certainly big enough.
Surprised not placed higher.

you're absolutely right about the back thickness. Not easy at this stage after many yrs of training but I'm gonna try.  Those are the finals pic, I was a little tighter than prejudging why I think I didn't place higher.

How are you doing back training?
What exercises & how often.

Understand if you don't want to discuss.

Would be a step in Right direction for Bodybuilding.

nothing wrong with those questions. I do back every 5th day. I'd like to do more deadlifts but I have a sciatica that acts up around my 2nd or 3rd set. I focus more on T-bar, wide & close grip pull downs, one arm or barbell arm rows & throw cable rows & various machines in about 10% of the times for variety.

Thanks for replying.
A few ideas--
Maybe do a heavy workout poundage wise & rest a little longer extra day or so then a lighter day
Rest 4/5 days.
Are you able to do / or are doing Deadlift off blocks or in a power rack.
Not strictly bodybuilding exercises -- some power cleans / hang cleans.
As we stated it's tough improving a physique after a good few years at it.

I use a power rack for deads all the way to the floor. I did power lifting when I started but not much in awhile. Definitely food for thought. Good suggestions, I appreciate it & will incorporate them in my routine. One good thing about getting inshape is it makes it easier to see your flaws. More back thickness will be a priority in my training.

Doing the deadlifts in racks from just below or just above the knees
Clearly allows for heavier weight to be used.
Again maybe try doing them in a round back style with a shrug type
Motion at the top.

What the hell are you talking about, as a natural I don't do anything  ;). But if I did I'd probably do TRT then a few months off. Hypothetically speaking ofcourse  :)
