Caloric surplus makes you fat, not the type of training method.
Didn't read the article, don't want to contribute with web traffic to their shitty site.

Runners carbo load. Carbs make you fat. Running burns muscle tissue.

The usual fat fuck pathological lying. From the article:

"But sometimes, eating too little can also help pack on the pounds. Elbaz attributes her double-digit weight gain to consuming too few calories, which can cause your metabolism to drop. “She became inefficient at burning calories,” says dietitian Heidi Skolnik, meaning Elbaz’s body stored excess calories as fat, rather than using them as energy."

Unfortunately, people eat that junk up then you hear them talking about it like they are so "with it".

Only a woman can get fat from marathon training

She'd be fat with or without it. In the first pic, she was already running. She probably lost weight for about five minutes and promptly gained it back.

This is the U.S women's Marathon team for the Rio Olympics. Not too much spillover there:

Bullshit.  No way that hambeast just ran 26 miles.

I ran a few Half Marathons over the Summer. There were quite a few chubby chicks there. They kind of half jog half walk. The hotter women run the Half in 2 hours and under. The fatties are usually closer to 3.

Eddie Izzard ran 27 marathons in 27 days, he was still fat when he crossed the line on day 27.

Eddie Izzard ran 27 marathons in 27 days, he was still fat when he crossed the line on day 27.

He was probably taking in about 300 calories an hour, in gels,  while burning 600.  So, his net was about 1200-1500 calories burned per Marathon. A pint of Ice Cream cancels that out.

That said he still compares favorably to the average 54 year old:

my point was running doesnt in itself make you thin, its way more efficent to cut cals than go running every day.

Agree. That's the problem. People use running as a weight loss tool and usually fail.

Fatties just don't want to hear that it's all diet.

Title: Re: Marathon training made me fat

It's all about the intensity. Had a coworker who said he runs 5 to 7 miles a day.  I was amazed that he wasn't thinner. At the time I would run 2 to 5 miles a day and I was really lean.  When I ran with him he was running so slow he should have been fast walking instead that fake jog.

Another thing I noticed with with out of shape guys. They walk from their car to the gym at a faster pace than they set the treadmill for.  I wonder if they even realize they are walking slower on the treadmill than they usually walk around in life?

You can run two hard miles a day and lose a ton of weight. The key is intensity. I don't believe the calories burn charts because I lose weight with hard cardio added to my weight workouts that doesn't calculate.  A pound of fat is 3500 calories.  I lose fat at a much faster rate than the current calculations figure.

Runners generally have horrible bodies. Girls who run after breast formation destroy the collagen in their breasts by an early age leaving their tits loose, flabby, saggy and mushy. Additionally, it creates thin legs without providing any workload for the glutes, leaving the ass underdeveloped, flat, saggy and mushy. Running has nearly destroyed as many women as Joey Swoll.

That's why the "calorie is a calorie" people in here are wrong. If you eat carbs and sugary stuff your hunger will be out of control and it will be very difficult to stay under maintenance, but high protein will help curb it.

They're different in terms of their satiety effect but to tap stored body fat you still need to be in a caloric deficit.

true for the average lazy fella
or female, lol

different story for bodybuilders though, at least of you abuse hormones/chemicals...

couple months ago i literally didnt do anything but stuffing myself with loads of shit all day and exercising for a couple weeks straight
gym for 2 hours a day, 2-3 hours LISS (fast paced walking) a day, staying active all the time.
ate around 5000 kcals a day, sometimes more sometimes less. burned the same. "diet" was 300g protein and the rest was just 90% complete junk, pizza, cake, icecream, you name it.
fun times, did that for 5 or 6 weeks, gained a couple lbs water weight and YES, looked water logged like fuck. but the excess weight dropped right off when i went back to a good and appropriate diet...
was on loads of tren and other shit, strength skyrocketed like crazy.
did that because i had nothing to do for a few weeks so usually dieting rather strict all the time i thought well, might as well pig out like a madman for a couple weeks as an experiment... didnt do any damage to my physique at all, but was fun eating like a fat fuck all day.

As a cyclist (ex track) I can validate that yes it makes you fat because your hunger goes out of control.

Same reason many prep for BB comps with no cardio because it drives hunger up.

I struggle with bodyweight when cycling. 10hrs/wk cardio and it's a weight battle to not get heavier because all I want to do is eat, constantly.

Besides that you burn fuck all calories. My energy is all measured and I average 500cals/HR during a hard ride over 2-3hrs. Problem is that is just one day....then your hunger is sky high the next 3 days and you eat WAY over that.

Plus you get fitter so you burn less over time but people forget that. Exercise is for fitness, not weight control, stay the fuck away if you are dieting.

Yeah with eating disorders, stims, drugs. Amphetamine use is massive in the sport.

The pros are very open about their struggles with bodyweight in interviews. It's no secret.

Go to normal club races and 90% are fat but are fucking fit. It makes you hungry, if your willpower fails that's a secondary after effect.
