Title: Do stimulants improve your life?
Post by: cephissus on October 22, 2016, 04:43:17 PM
Easily the most used class of drug in the world... im convinced the majority of Americans are addicted.

Do you use stimulants on a daily basis?  Caffeine, adderall, whatever.  Do they improve your life or not, on the whole?

Caffeine.  I only drink it in the morning and afternoon the first to wake up and the last to stay awake for my commute home. On training days I have a cup of ice water with Mesomorph or C4 pre-workout drink.  Every few months I just quite for a week or two.  No headaches and the workouts are only slightly less "intenstive'.  As I don't smoke, drink or take illicit/illegal drugs caffeine is pretty much it for me.

In the '70s Robby Robinson told me that they used to drink a lot of coffee prior to training but started taking No-Doze instead.  I tried that and it put me down hard after a few months of doing it prior to training.  It got so I would burp and "taste" No-Doze.  No thanks.  Never again.   ;D

I quit caffeine for like 4 months once, in the hopes of attaining the "increased natural energy" touted by some.  All I really found was that I became less productive ... I'd find myself content to sit on the couch, doing nothing.

200-600mg caffeine everyday for me, keeps me moving around & getting stuff done.  So yes, stimulants do improve my life.

Caffeine has many benefits to it and pretty much no negative side effects, why not use it?

Caffeine - yes, helps to increase concentration for me and improve my mood.

Ritalin - I have tried it, but was not impressed.

Caffeine is not a great drug for long term use. And it's very addictive.

Coke - great if you know what u r doing. Basically a wonder drug given a bad name due to idiots who aren't suited to using it or have no self control.

Meth - terrible. Only worth using on limited occasions and by someone who understands the pharmacology behind it.

MDMA - an amazing drug and to some extent stimulant used for both recreational and therapeutic purposes. But only on special occasions rather than as a regular drug.

Pre-workout stims - bullshit. If you can't get fired up mentally to train hard, don't train. Of some use pre-contest.

Clen - great for pre contest limited to 4 weeks and taper up each week.

Most people feel like shit when they first wake up because they are withdrawing from caffeine, and they need that first cup of coffee just to feel normal.

When you go off caffeine for a while, you can wake up and feel like you have energy naturally without taking anything. But some people have fried their dopamine receptors from long term stimulant use and can take a long time to recover, or they never get back to normal.

Agree. Most people seriously underestimate the pharmacological effects of this drug.

if most people are using, you feel like you belong, a big stimulant family.

and as for supplements you feel better for supporting the industry. i got tremendous joy after buying a supplement from ronnie coleman signature series

Great post Man!

For me,
ECA stack plus Maeng Da Kratom for preworkout purposes, cannot have the intensity and drive as before, so yes, I find them necessary, only on training days, otherwise, caffeine is the culprit to get me going in the mornings...

I found the exact opposite. I quite after I realised I had an addiction. Slept way better at night. Much more energy. Much more alert. Workouts more energetic. Sex better. Diet better. Also the effect of coke is way better when you are off caffeine. Life is so much better after I gave up coffee.

During the late 80's my training partner swore by ephedrine and caffeine.  He claims it got him through nursing school.  He ending up abusing it though... he was up to 1000mgs C and 250mgs E per day in divided doses.  I don't understand how he was able to sleep.

Ask Mike Mentzer how they improved his life.
^^
It wasn't just that that killed him... I've shared this before a few times here, when I was on a two-week vacation while in the Army I chose to come to Los Angeles in 1991 (around there, it was before the Bosnia deployment!!)
and I had read in Ironman magazine he was working out of Gold's doing personal training.  I didn't have long to wait, I saw him pull up in a while sports car (I think a Nissan) and I stood up to say hello.
He was a VERY friendly person, we talked for over a half hour (completely lost track of time)-  but then enough time had passed that he asked me if I wanted to have a SMOKE with him at the side of the building!!!
I just nervously told him I don't smoke, and he also told me after the day was done he liked to have Jack Daniels too... (no mention of Healthy eating, exotic miracle vitamins, vacations to pristine beaches, etc...)
P.S.  This was my "day of come-uppance" or the day the "Veil of Secrecy" was lifted for me, as I TRULY thought the whole game was about Intensity intervals, HEALTH building foods and scientific eating, Gear (administered wisely), and the pursuit of Health-building activities/adventures.

Caffeine is OK if you stay under your threshold, esp natural sources like coffee. It's not for everyone but you can be a regular drinker and have no health consequences. Studies show that coffee has many health benefits.

I bet Mike smoked because Ayn Rand portrayed smoking so romantically in her novels. Mike himself said he took amphetamines because Ayn Rand was an amphetamine user and it apparently didn't harm her.

“I like to think of fire held in a man's hand. Fire, a dangerous force, tamed at his fingertips. I often wonder about the hours when a man sits alone, watching the smoke of a cigarette, thinking. I wonder what great things have come from such hours. When a man thinks, there is a spot of fire alive in his mind--and it is proper that he should have the burning point of a cigarette as his one expression.”

I do math for a living, but I couldn't even manage grade school math without my caffeine. I probably down around 1 litre of café au lait and some energy drinks a day. To say caffeine improve my life is an understatement, but I try to keep free from it during weekends and days off.

I use caffeine daily. Coffee, tea, pre workouts...
I honestly cant tell the last time i have trainned without at least a coffee in my system. Most of the pwo i use have additional stims with the caffeine too.
I can use steroids, tren etc and never really get irritable but too much stims and im a wreck.
I rely a lot on them when dieting too, but never go above 400mg of total daily caffeine. Which is already excessive imo.
Also use clen which makes me very snappy, more so than any steroids.

I've taken small doses of both C and E before job interviews and before I give presentations.  Much better with it than without it... brain activity is quicker and more concise in my speech and answering questions.

The amount I take is miniscule compared to what they shot him up with.  I believe it helped me tremendously on the last 3 job interviews I had... got hired every time.  The secret is self-control.  Easy to abuse and get addicted (like so many on here seem to be).  I had workout partners who could not train without it... they have many health problems now, mainly due to ephedrine abuse.

Yeah, a combination of high workload and strict deadlines. I started to develop those nasty signs of caffeine intoxication like anxiety, but it went away as I completely removed all caffeine outside of work. I have tapered off to like 500mg a day now and have none of those old issues.

My bad, I was thinking about the "classic ECA stack" of like 30mg ephedrine 300mg caffeine + 1 aspirine. But wouldn't that American ADHD medicine be better for an interview? You supposedly get an insane amount of focus and clarity. I don't remember the name of it, but college students were popping it like candy when I did a semester overseas.

I have only used pseudo-ephedrine with caffeine and even that works very well for focus and energy.

I have tried Ritalian, but was not impressed and found even pseudo-ephedrine to be more effective.

However, what did work very well was Modafinil, it gave the clarity and focus without the edginess of pseudo-ephedrine.

Probably Adderall, or the generic equivalent...Adderall is amphetamine and some guys like to use it to get high...recreational doses over an extended time will give you an enlarged heart due to chronic high blood pressure.
