Title: Have any of you had a heart attack and then returned to training?
Post by: Darren Avey on November 02, 2016, 11:52:07 AM
How long did you give it? Did you get back to the LBs you were lifting before? How did you feel?

That's the spirit, I train through my angina too.   That's why my gym bag always contains a bottle of amyl-nitrate - in case I find myself in sudden need of vasodilation...  ;)

Used to train with a steroid addict and rec user during weekend (coke whisky). He was "on" basically year round and love to party. He had a double heart attack 2 years ago. 1 year later he was back on training then back on juice.

Dumb me, I thought one had to have sexual relations with someone (other than themselves) which involves an exchange of bodily fluids in order to become infected with HIV. As for an unfortunate encounter with a serial killer, I am no more likely to experience this than anyone else. The likelihood of anyone being murdered is about 1 in 20,000....probably even less for me since I live in the "whitest city in the U.S.  ;D
However, I will give you that anything is possible. My suspicion is that I will die from old age....very old age based on my current health. Sweetheart.

The ones i know who had heart attacks never trained again. At least not weights. It depends on the severity of the damage on the heart.

If you could show your heart muscle on a bodybuilding stage or the beach bodybuilders would be doing cardio like crazy.  Instead their heart muscles are so weak they are exhausted walking on a treadmill.

And rot your gut. Ever hear about low dose aspirin? That's all most folks need to avoid having a stroke and there's far less chance that it will mess with your digestive system.

Most getbiggers would simply return to their set and class it as rest-pause training, man up.

Even 100mg would be too much for the digestive system.

Just one 325mg is enough to thin your blood for 2 weeks.  You better hope you don't get into a serious accident... you'll bleed to death.

Bull....before acetaminophen everybody used asprin.
If you overdo it and are susceptible to it you'll may end up with internal bleeding, but every drug got it's complications....

It's still a terrific medication, I prefer it over acetaminophen when I have a minor inflammation thing...better than nurofen/ibuprofen, which may hurt your stomach as much, and your heart and kidneys even harder.

More Power To Asprin !!

Nothing wrong with aspirin in moderation. Even folks on low dose aspirin are supposed to skip it for several days before any surgical procedure.

Cocaine was once used as a medication....these things change as we become more knowledgeable about them. Whiskey was used as a pain killer once upon a time too. Guess if you drink enough whiskey, that still works.

"In 1887, the US Surgeon General recommended that cocaine be used to treat depression, claiming that there was no such thing as cocaine addiction." http://www.narconon.org/drug-information/cocaine-circa-1860-1900.html

From what I remember, you should not just abruptly stop long term low dose aspirin therapy. You are susceptible to heart attack coming off.

Most of the bad reputation for Aspirin came from children who are prone to develop Reye's Syndrome.

If you as a child had developed no problems from taking Aspirin, there is no reason to take Tylenol.

Rarely take any pain meds, least of all Tylenol. It is particularly bad for one's liver.

Do yourself a favor and buy 'baby aspirin' that is a huge dose. I don't even take that much aspirin when I run ECA.

If I took that after two days I'd get nosebleeds.
