I cannot believe that people are still running for cardio in this day and age if you want to be big and shredded with low fat then you need to sprint, the proof is right there before your eyes.(https://s-media-cache-ak0.pinimg.com/736x/ed/cc/5d/edcc5d5c6a7655151d78f51f50614fbf.jpg)

Long distance or sprints; the problem with running is that it fucks up your joints and recovery from a leg training. I prefer interval sprints on a spinning bike or walking.

You made another stupid post. How can you build muscle with just sprinting ?
?
Are you a bethere gimmick he is the dumbest guy on getbig, obviously we are talking about your cardio that you do with lifting you retard.
sprinters tend to run in an anaerobic state.
next time at the gym jump on the threadmill walk for a few mins then turn up the speed and sprint as fast as you can for 2 min then slow it down and walk again keep repeating until you are exhausted I guarantee you it will kick your ass.you cant sprint for 2 mins you fuckwit, thats running
you cant sprint for 2 mins you fuckwit, thats running
you cant sprint for 2 mins you fuckwit, thats running
this
the longest sprint in track and field is 400 meters
I am sorry I forgot you are still a cardio baby I dont want you to die, start out with 20 seconds and build your way up.
How many times are you going to be wrong before shame causes you to abandon this account?
look up the definition of sprint dumbass.

What a whiny picky bitch you are, that is my workout I describe I sprint hard and obviously after about 20 seconds i will slow down a bit but I keep going hard for two min then I start walking on the treadmill and repeat if you want to do it for only 20 secs then stop go ahead.
Interesting that not one person posting in this thread-besides myself-even looks like they lift. And they're spouting "advice". ::)
If you are going to give information then make sure its right.
no one weighing 250lbs as you claim can sprint hard for 2 mins, you would know that if you were 250lbs.
Sorry to break it to you but big guys can move.
not for 2 mins flat out you daft twat
Glad you now understand what a sprint is.
I already explain to you shitbrain that because i am advance after 20 sec i do slow down but i keep going hard as i can for another min and a half then i walk and repeat, but keep walking for an hour with your toothpick legs, in the bodybuilding world you look like a runner anyhow.and that might be you at 6 mph coughing your guts up.
this
the longest sprint in track and field is 400 meters
Today's elite runners are actually sprinting for up to 800 meters. They run faster than the majority of commercial treadmills can go by a lot. Most high school athletes would have trouble keeping up for 200 meters at the speeds they are running and they would be sprinting all out.
Regarding the other posts showing the elites of the various distances that doesn't apply to supplementing running with bodybuilding. Yes if you ran 10 to 20 miles a day at 5 to 7 minute miles and have the genetics gifts to do that you would be very light in body weight. For a gym rat working with weights running 2 to 5 miles a 3 to 5 days a week will enhance how you look by making you lean. Almost all boxers, wrestlers and MMA guys run.
and that might be you at 6 mph coughing your guts up.
"as hard as I can" what the fuck does that mean.
a 250lb man cannot run hard for 2 mins, the heart simply isnt big enough to keep the muscles engorged with oxygenated blood to maintain that pace.
Most sprinters dont even breath during a 100 meter race.
They're not sprinting. By the time you get to 800, it's primarily an aerobic event. Sprinting is anaerobic.
The reason to run is the development of an aerobic base. In a sport like boxing, you alternate between hard and easy efforts. An aerobic base helps you to recover more quickly and easily from the hard efforts.

Thats not even a sprint, 400 meter athletes pace the race

cool chart
so maybe the only pure sprint is the 60 meter dash
There's some debate over the duration of the atp cp system.
Looking at Bolt, his top speed starts to decrease after 70 meters:
Thats not even a sprint, 400 meter athletes pace the raceThis is not true. Elite athletes don't pace on the 400m. It is very much a sprint
I do sets of 36 sprints, 20 seconds on / 20 sec off. I put the treadmill up to 13 mph on some, which is a 4.6 minute mile.
It's unbelievable to me that the elite marathon runners hold that pace for 2 straight hours. They are machines.
This is not true. Elite athletes don't pace on the 400m. It is very much a sprinthave you ever heard the terms "hes gone off too quickly" used in a 400meters race?
I had to stop any hard running when I hit 50 because of joint pain and soreness.
The OP has a point, but it's a bit over blown.
Running a few miles each week is a good form of cardio for any athlete in their prime.
The sprinter in the photo has elite genetics to compete at the top level, and trains very seriously.
Normal people who sprint won't look like that.
