Aryan means a lot more than just blue eyes and blonde hair. In fact that's not what it means at all. Aryans (from the standpoint of the SS, and thus National Socialist Germany) are white Europeans. There's a very good reason the SS was made up of men of all nationalities of the European continent, and in the very end even those who subscribed to the muslim faith(decidedly non Aryan). At that point NS Germany was simply looking for those willing the fight Communism. The enemy of my enemy is my friend as they say.

This story is a bit of a myth. Hitler wasn't in the stadium at the time and Owens himself said that he was treated very well in Nazi Germany.
He even would later say "Hitler didn't snub me, it was FDR (US President) who snubbed me".

Platz is not 5'-8", he is shorter than that.
