I try to fast 14-16 hours per day these days. In a span of 8-10 hours I eat pretty much whatever I want. Don't count Macros, don't count calories. I'm never hungry and at my leanest ever year round without any cravings, plus super-fit and active.
Best diet approach ever for Nattys - give it a try, thank me later! 8)
-
I've been doing it since September. It worked great for a while but it seems like your body adapts and it eventually becomes quite possible to gain fat while on it.
-
IF works nicely for me. I'm not strictly rigid about it, but generally eating between noon & 8:00 pm usually fits my daily life perfectly.
Also, I always used to train later in the day (early evening) with a few meals in me ... but i'm a fairly recent convert to training fasted in the AM before B-fast and am digging it.
-
so its basically skipping breakfast
wow
what an original concept, im sure theres never been people skipping breakfast in the history of mankind

I still eat my normal breakfast (eggs, oatmeal, greek yogurt, blueberries ...). It just usually happens at noon instead of first thing in the morning. :D

Get lost. Worthless poster.

LOL what a bunch of skinny weak fucks in this thread, stop starving yourself and start eating more food 6 to 8 meals per day, a shake in the middle of the night if necessary how do you expect to get big fasting, get real people.
-
what's the plan? 1/2 meal per day? No meal, just snacking?
-

The point is to maintain lean gains. Not all of us are on enough drugs to drop a horse, or genetic marvels like yourself.

Intermittent Fasting is
THE SHIT!

How are your bowel movements?

That would be the approach for people on grams of RX, GH, IFG-1 and DNP - different ballgame :)

I like how idiots call it fasting by not eating while they sleep ??? then having a late breakfast/lunch.
-
Only a bodybuilder that goes without food for 14 hrs calls it a fast.

Nice dig @Nether Animal.. ;D

Research also shows that intermittent fasting inhibits cancer cell growth. Eating food all the time increases cell division, which can increase likelihood of cancer.
A bodybuilder diet just puts too much stress on the body with the constant eating and ingestion of hundreds of grams of protein. Your digestive and endocrine systems never get a chance to catch a break.
I think it is the protein overload that demolishes the kidneys and a diet super high in cholesterol that are primary causes of death and organ failure, not anabolic themselves.
-
I remember about 30 plus years ago bodybuilder John Cardillo said in an interview that he fasted one day a week and it made him really lean. He trained very similar to Dorian Yates. John started like Yates using high intensity for two work sets an exercise. Toward the end of his bodybuilding career he had it down to one work set per exercise just like Yates.
-
I believe what we're discussing here would be more appropriately described as "inadvertent fasting."
-
Please shut the fuck up with this nonsense.
-
It's called sleeping.
-
its no fucking magic....its still calories in vs calories out...I won shows doing IF and won shows eating 6 meals/day....it is convenient for some people who don't like eating breakfast/lunch and prefer back loading all of their calories post-workout.....aside from that there is ZERO benefit over eating several meals throughout the day.

Incorrect. You have to stoke the metabolic fire all day!!!
-
it all comes down to calories in vs calories out
not rocket science

I like doing IF for the first 6-8 weeks of a cutting diet. But then I find I get way too flat and can't even get a pump in the gym (I'd work out then eat my first meal). I notice that those first week or so I can lift heavier weights, but then after that 2 month mark I plateau, I get gassed in the gym easily, and my endurance goes to shit. That's when I switch back to all day eating, fill out, and coast into summer nice and lean :)
That's been my experience. Its not a long-term solution for me, but it sure as hell of a great tool to slowly acclimate your body to lower calories without suffering too hard.

I got a legit chuckle out of this response. LOL :D

Yes this.
People have been doing intermittent fasting since day 1.
As stated its Called Sleep.
I know lets re-invent the wheel.
-
hard working Getbiggers might sleep for 16 hours a day ... but many people are lucky to get 7 hrs of Zzzzs
-
6-7 meals a day here (some shakes)
it is a current fad it seems?

interesting so on a cut diet, you would IF for 1 day a week? bbing diet and one day you would eat only late night?
-
Nothing magical about it. Did it for awhile. Just depends on personal preference.
-
just a re-hashed version of "Animal-o-bolics" or "the mountiandog-dog diet" or "the warrior diet". Nothing new.
Everything works, but nothing works all the time.
-
Speaking of Animal... Whatever happened to that crazy paranoid dude? Or VariX for that matter? I think thenonlyndudes i can remember from then are MassiveG and maybe JethroTull.
-

I'd do IF every day for 6-8 weeks. I'd start eating around 6pm and stop around 10pm. Consider it one big meal. After those 6-8wks I go back to eating 9am-10pm, 5 meals.
-

It works less and less, but it never stops working completely. I mean you will eventually gain some weight back but you will never return to your previous weight.

I am the standard 6 meals a day guy so this is all new shit for me
pretty much one big ass meal from 6pm to 10pm....
1. how many cals are you eating in that time frame?
2, moderate protein, moderate carb? fats?
3. any epic shits or cramps or weird body issues? post work out struggle?

You dont know shit about dieting so what is standard 3 meals daily,2 meals daily, the body can only absorb a certain amount of food in a day, you can choose to do it in 3 or 4 or 6 meals doesnt make a difference.

lol! no need to throw hate on a gorgi Sunday Morning. gonna eat in a bit and read the paper (920am here) then go do some cardio and hamstrings/abs
for me, 6 meals works - keeps me full/sane/no long periods of me being hungry.
meal 1 530am
train in AM
meal 2 8am
meal 3 11am
meal 4 2-3 pm
meal 5 5-6pm
meal 6 9-10pm
I have a white collar job, my office is close to my condo, I can come and go as I please etc so its not a hassle for me at all.

Two meals for me, prefer to have a large evening meal so the frequent smaller meals don't intetest me whatsover.
-

its because there is no standard you fucking moron, eating six times a day is fucking stupid and beyond most people who have lives and work for a living.
and 6 "meals" a day, some people have a fucking apple and an orange and call it a fucking meal.
No post a pic and shut us all up or fuck off.

"hamstrings and abs"
the things people come up with...

1. Between 2000 and 2500. I have a big appetite...
2. I did keto last time I did this, so high fat, moderate protein. Time before I ate whatever I wanted and didn't count. Results were similar in both instances.
3. Yes, the shits were horrible. My stomach hated me those 2 months. That's a big down side of IF, if your gut can't handle it, you will spend a lot of your night on the toilet. No postworkout issues tho, was just hungry to eat.

thanks for the response
id be so dizzy midday with the lack of food - to each his own
-
intermittent fasting is just a fad and dumb people always follow the latest fad, a person who eats healthy and detox their body once or twice a year will be in extremely good health, no need for this ridiculous idea that I can only eat between certain hours, such bullshit.

IF is easy as fuck and old as time
nobody needs a breakfast and nobody needs a lunch
but also, people have to find what works for them and futhermore there is just as much evidence showing that you can get/stay in great shape doing that boring 6 meals a day thing or doing IF/Warrior diet/One meal a day
personally, I prefer eating only a dinner....it also helps that I love black coffee and just drink that all day long
I'm already calling the quote/edits to read "black cock" btw
also, with IF i eat literally whatever I want at night....again, that works for me and furthermore I'm not as ab obsessed as I used to be

So much goes into this stuff... Stimulant use for example. Would be hard pressed to find one long term adherent who didn't use daily.
-
i admit to being a huge coffee guy but in my defense Im a wop who comes from a LONG line of people who drink a fuck load of coffee
also, every diet/lifestyle has a upside and downside that some researcher can find for there own confirmation basis
"carbs are bad for you"
"carbs are good for you"
"keto is the way to go"
"High fat, low carb is bad for you"
yadda yadda yadda
-
I live on fucking coffee.
The best I`ve ever looked is 4 small meals with 2 shakes in water......always worked well for me/.
Moderate to high protein, carbs cycled, and low fats always.
-
I live on fucking coffee.
I've been on a Extra large (venti) in the AM then one in the PM for soooo long
some people can't handle it
I'm not afraid of offending them because tonight is the Oscars and most of those people are preoccupied with the red carpet
-

-
I`m just a plain old Folgers man....got a cup right in front of me.
Have spit many a mouthful on my monitor back when this place was the shit!

how much do you weigh?
I'm planning a recomp now on 2500 cals and I got a feeling it wont be enough and I'll have to go up to 3 grand or more
I'm fat now, around 8-9% gotta get down to sub-7 😎

Surprise surprise, it's not so simple as 'eating more and moving less'.
Maybe you should stick with being 'fat'... Or you won't get any sympathy when crying about your 'narcissism' and relationship problems.
Wake up and admit the connection.

another diet for people with no lives.
no family to enjoy breakfast with.
no business associates to have lunch with.
no people to have dinner with.
no alcohol, wine or any of the other finer things in life.
just a bunch of losers with nothing going on in their lives.
sad. just sad.

If it gets you lean as he is in this pic, sounds like something worth trying. Not sure i could fast 24 hours without being cranky as shit, though.

Actually, I'd argue this is a better diet for people with families and who have social lives.
I'm out the door and off to work at 6:30am. My gf is still asleep at that time, and I don't eat that early. I don't do IF now, but when I did, I just wouldn't eat during work hours, work out, come home, and my gf and I would eat whatever we wanted (alcohol included, if it was a special occasion).
If I had plans to go out with my friends, same thing, we never went to dinner/drinks earlier than 5pm, so I'd fast until then, and then enjoy my night out. The only "problem" I'd see is if you have a big family and on weekends you guys do a huge breakfast. But in my case, every weekend my gf and I sleep in, then drive into the city, get some Starbucks, and enjoy walking around Downtown Toronto or we'd make a trip somewhere new. Now, these days I'd at least have a protein shake upon waking, but if I was fasting I really don't see a problem.

yeah, I find it more satisfying than the standard 5-6 meals per day (which I did for years.)
"Relaxed IF" enables me to have two big enjoyable meals with my wife each day (we don't have kids.)
We have a big meal around noon (which is post-workout on days that we train) ... a light snack a few hours later ... and then we "go to town" for our delicious dinner at 7:00-8:00 PMish.

I have always lost fat more effectively with a high carb, medium protein and medium fat diet with plenty of cardio and relatively high calories. As soon as the carbs and calories go low I seem to shut down my metabolism and struggle to lose weight irrespective of the amount of cardio I do. As soon as you get used to daily cardio it isn't difficult to maintain because of the fact your eating and not suffering from the food side of the coin.
