Its really really weird how now that Obama is no longer president, EVERYBODY ABSOLUTELY LOVES Obamacare!!!!...all those Republicans who absolutely hated Obamacare, both politicians and constituents, are screaming and yelling to keep Obamacare....
Its obvious that everyone just hated the idea of Obama being successful...that was the REAL issue!..it always was.....it had nothing to do with the program itself...now that Obama is gone, people are not so invested in seeing him fail any more....
So now all these guys who voted for Trump are storming the national town halls and destroying the republicans over this issue....
REALLY STRANGE................ ???

Obamacare has its share of problems but providing healthcare to a population of that size will always have problems. It's easy to call something a disaster, creating a solution is the hard part.
Health care is expensive...

Agreed....all programs have problems when they start....social security and Medicaid had initial problems as well...its quite normal actually
-
The problem with Obamacare is the mandate.
However, if we are going to be honest with ourselves as a nation, you will not be able to create a national healthcare system and use private insurance companies without the mandate.
You have to have the young people who never get sick, forced to pay for it, so that those who do get sick, can be covered.
There is no other mechanism to do so other than single payer healthcare systems and that is always going to be called "socialist".
You can't have it both ways. People just don't want to admit it.
It's easy to pull an Ivan Drago and say "If they die, they die.", but we believe ourselves as a nation to be "better" than that.
-
"if they did...they die"...good line......completely sums up the feelings of some detractors of the law
Yes the mandate is the key.....but the fact is every social program is funded on the backs of the working young.....social security being one....and even Medicaid since I always see that medicare tax on my paystub...
-
No disagreement that this is pretty much par for the course when it comes to social programs.
That's what these things are. That's not to say they are bad or good, but that's just what they are.
Either we, as a nation, believe we should take the bad with the good, or we don't.
That's all there is to it.
-
Only people on welfare like obamacare
-
No, only the new age republicans like it/are spineless to do what is right due to the backlash of those who will make a lot of noise if they aren't provided for by everyone else.
You are right that they seem to basically support it now after voting to get rid of it knowing Obama wouldn't sign off, but when the time comes to step up they are backing down again.

That's because they are cuckservatives. Another reason why Trump is the President. They failed to grasp that people are sick and tired of weak cucks! We want a President that will go against the corrupt system. Trump is the guy!! Trump Trump Trump!!!!!

Bingo! Because those young people will one day be old and get sick and when they do, they'll be damn glad they invested in their own future.

Let's get rid of the one that's falling apart...

What?? Which Republicans are screaming and yelling to keep Obamacare? The bill that was just introduced isn't even going to get enough Republican support to pass the House because a lot of Republicans think it doesn't go far enough in getting rid of Obamacare.

I have yet to meet a person in real life that likes, let alone loves, Obamacare. :-\
Whether it exists or not it most likely won't change my insurance or the costs. Not enough
To notice anyway.
I am not a fan of the ACA, but I always ask... when was the last time a government program on that scale was ever removed?
Social Security, Medicare, The military budget. They all go up and never get slowed down.
I expect this to be the same.

I guess all those white people destroying the Republicans at the town halls are on welfare???????????????

Isn't Rand the one going around calling this "Obamacare lite" saying he won't vote for it? Not denying that a lot have done this but a lot haven't as well. Don't think Rand is one who supports it, though, unless I missed something.

Paul Ryan was just on TV trying to pitch his plan.
I hate Paul Ryan. I hate this proposal. Both should be thrown in the trash

You mean this Rand Paul who said this today?
“The Republican Party is unified on Obamacare repeal,” Paul said in a statement Thursday. “We can honor our promise right away by passing the same language we acted on in the last Congress. Then, we can have a separate vote on replacement legislation that will deliver lower costs, better care, and greater access to the American people.”

Now this is an interesting Breitbart article:
Honeymoon Over: Speaker Paul Ryan Targets His Own Republicans, Not Democrats, with Ads on Healthcare
http://www.breitbart.com/big-government/2017/03/09/honeymoon-speaker-paul-ryan-targets-republicans-not-democrats-ads-healthcare/ (http://www.breitbart.com/big-government/2017/03/09/honeymoon-speaker-paul-ryan-targets-republicans-not-democrats-ads-healthcare/)
House Speaker Paul Ryan is openly targeting House Republicans with television advertisements—while conspicuously not hitting Democratic members—to try to browbeat them into supporting his healthcare legislation.
The remarkable development, in which a GOP leadership-connected organization is now opening fire on the airwaves against Ryan’s own members, is ultimately one of the main tactics employed by Ryan’s predecessor, former House Speaker John Boehner—one that was instrumental in forcing his resignation in 2015.
And while this is going on, with Ryan unrelentingly pushing for this American Health Care Act—nicknamed by many Republicans who oppose it “Ryancare,” “Obamacare 2.0,” or “Obamacare Lite”—members in the House GOP conference are beginning to whisper about replacing not just Obamacare but replacing Ryan as Speaker.
“A group with close ties to House Republican leaders, including House Speaker Paul D. Ryan (R-Wis.), is airing a half-million dollars’ worth of television ads in more than two dozen media markets urging unruly conservatives to support GOP health-care legislation,” the Washington Post’s Mike DeBonis reported on Thursday.
Particularly, the group American Action Network—a group the Post notes is “affiliated with” Ryan’s Congressional Leadership Fund Super PAC—“is targeting 30 members it says are part of the House Freedom Caucus,” DeBonis writes.
“The Republicans’ American Health Care Act versus Obamacare,” a narrator says in the Ryan-connected ads. “Obamacare is full of job-destroying mandates. The new plan eliminates them. Obamacare put bureaucrats in control. The Republican plan puts patients and doctors in charge. Obamacare stuck families with soaring premiums. The new plan provides more choices and lower costs.”
Most of those claims are untrue...

I don't agree with forcing someone to buy something period, end of story.
That being said if you believe you should and that what you've said is what's needed Obamacare isn't it.
The fact is younger people aren't paying for their healthcare...OTHER PEOPLE ARE
They can stay on until 26, they tend to make less so they get credits which the govt pays the insurance company for to cover cost. That money is being paid by those older Americans you say need the younger peoples payments to help pay for theirs. Do those young people pay taxes or get returns generally? Do the older folks who need help paying for their insurance pay taxes or get returns generally?
Don't fool yourself Tu, this is nothing more than an entitlement on the backs of older, higher income individuals.
Look the fact of the matter is at some point a larger % of people are going to have to put skin in the game/more skin in the game to make something like Obamacare work.

We are always "forced to buy something" by the government...thats what taxes are for.....7.5% of my check and yours goes to Medicare....the government never gave me a say in whether I wanted to purchase health insurance "for other people"....
The big unsaid fact is that Obamacare was mostly opposed due to the person (Obama) who proposed it......I think you're smart enough to eventually realize that

This is why I asked you if you use drugs. You claimed Republicans, including Rand Paul, are in love with Obamacare. I posted a quote from Rand Paul from just the other day confirming he wants Obamacare repealed.
Anyone paying even half attention to the folks in DC can see Republicans are trying to repeal Obamacare and are not in love with it. I should slap myself for even responding to this garbage.

I do not like being forced to buy something either, but you're right about one thing. The richest people are paying the most into the plan.
That's why the latest iteration is planned to give big breaks to the top 1% and not to people like you or me.

Interesting post, Funk.
Not sure if he can actually refuse to accept payment, though. The fact that he takes the check itself shouldn't surprise anyone.

I'm pretty sure he could put it directly into a charity or something and people would not have a problem with the check getting to him.
I mean, if I had billions, I don't think accepting that small sum would be a big deal, plus the charity is a tax deduction!

Yeah, IDK exactly what he's doing with it. I'd have to look back on what he said about "donating" it, but imo he already knew beforehand that he couldn't refuse to accept a paycheck so it gave him a perfect opportunity to say it.
He donates more than the 400K (or whatever it is) every year, I'm sure, so saying what he did was too good a PR opportunity to pass.

Can you give the exact quote or quotes? I'll try to find it/them in a few, otherwise.
Not trying to cover for Trump, here, either. I really don't know what to think about any of it right now.

No, I mean that the graphic says that he's "accepted" his checks (similar), as though anything else could be expected. Hell yes, he's to accept his checks. We can't have it any other way.

It is indeed 400,000 btw.

Wow, what a Sea of Shit with this media. They're all RACING to blindly attack without a care in the world for what they're supposed to be doing.
Stuff like "Trump says he will donate salary, despite pledge not to take one" lmfao, and that looks to come from ABC.
But here's the quote. To Reuters: "The first thing I'm going to do is tell you that if I'm elected president, I'm accepting no salary, OK?" Trump said. "That's no big deal for me."
He should have just said right from the beginning that he'll donate it, and that way no one could twist everything to hell and back.

And that's the problem and why I stay out of most political threads - most just parrot what fits their agenda and ignore the rest.
Both the left and right are guilty of this. But if people just took the time to provide back up to their points, it would be much better.

No, he didnt realize that you have to "accept" it when he said those words. When told he had to accept it, it was amended to either donating to charity or putting back in treasury. Apparently chose charity route. Nothing wrong with what he said as there was no reason for him to research/know that is the case unless you are overly concerned about the salary aspect of being president (which obviously he isnt). Lazy sheep take facebook memes as gospel apparently. Just another way to mold brains.

Donald Trump shamelessly lies about what he does all the time...yet people STILL want to believe him

Didn't you see where for many years it was discovered that Trump gave absolutely NOTHING to charity?
https://www.washingtonpost.com/politics/trump-promised-millions-to-charity-we-found-less-than-10000-over-7-years/2016/06/28/cbab5d1a-37dd-11e6-8f7c-d4c723a2becb_story.html?tid=a_inl&utm_term=.fb558cb1e48d
In all, when the $1 million gift to veterans is added to his giving through the Donald J. Trump Foundation, Trump has given at least $3.8 million to charity since 2001.
??? ???
Up to you - you can take one, lone reporter and parrot it as fact if it fits your agenda, or you can believe the Forbes article that found almost $4M. Now, whether that number is considered generous considering his income is subjective, but not really the topic.

I did that already,...that's why SC is so hysterical
You are the only guy on here who talks about having sex with other men. STRANGE.

Probably going to be my first major disappointment with Trump on this issue. No idea what his plan is on this. Maybe he knows that neither side has enough to do anything about this. Not enough conservatives, etc. to actually do the right thing and they aren't going to go along with the liberal republicans so dead end either way. No idea, but would have liked to have seen him try on the side of actually repealing and replacing.
Very disappointed. He has said so often that the best thing to do would be to let Obamacare play out until people are so sick of it and begging for it to be gone. Don't know if this is his way of doing that and getting rid of Ryan but even if it is (doubt it) I would much rather have him be pushing the right side then putting his name behind the current disaster.

Why are you so concerned about it?...other than the fact its not true

GOP has had years to have an alternate plan. If they weren't ready, they shouldn't have forced this issue. In agreement with you.

They were never ready and not ready now because it was ALWAYS about denying Obama a legacy NOT about healthcare itself

It needs to be about fixing the ACA for them because if they can't with control over everything, they will get wiped out eventually.
