Title: Ron Harris strength claims!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Post by: brianX on April 05, 2006, 02:23:51 AM
On the "Daily Pump" section of his website, Ron Harris claims to have recently incline benched 315 for 6 reps. He also claims to have done bent-over rows with 365 for 8 reps. Does anyone actually believe this twat can lift even half of what he claims? He admits that he can't deadlift 500, but he's doing bent over rows with 365 for reps?

BULLSHIT

Considering he is around 230Ibs I think 315 for 6 on the incline bench is decent and believable for his size.

Obviously I can't do it, but I find 315 for 6 to be perfectly believable

This is his website www.ronharrismuscle.com

He has a great blog that he writes everyday called the daily pump.  If you sign up you can receive updates via email each day.  He has been lifting for twenty years and is a very lean 230 so it is definetely beleivable.  He is not the kind of guy that would make shit up.

Have you ever lifted weights? What is so unbelieveable. Ir this was a pro BB people would say he is lifting nothing special but it's unbelieveable for a 200lb plus lifter with 20 years behind him. I can incline 225 for a couple of reps and plenty of 'normal' guys in my gym row 225. I think you were either being sarcastic or do not work out consistently or heavily.

Harris seems to be a decent guy + a good example of what someone w/ average genetics but lots of perseverance can achieve as a bb.

Key telltale sign of avg genetics but strong will is great quads but so-so upper body --- which is exactly what Harris has.

Seriously, is that supposed to be an outrageous strength claim?

If he said 405 or something, I would have to call bullshit, but 315 is not a big deal for a 230-pound guy.

it's the new "hip" thing to do here at getbig...everytime anyone says they did anything you have to claim that lift is bullshit and everytime someone has a halfway decent bodypart you have to claim synthol even if it's a pic from like 1985 or something...

Arm implants? Harris? Must be a different guy - Ron Harris the writer has huge legs but his arms are pretty weak. If he has implants, he should have got bigger ones.

Yes, he has horrible implants.

Ron Harris has very subtle ones, but they clearly have an unusual shape when in the front extended pose (the "T"). Someone posted them on Mayhem and it was a huge thing- now you get banned for asking about it.

this is the same Ron Harris that writes for MD and competes in new england area, right?  the story goes, he got implants like 3 years ago, they were HUGE- I wish I had the pics. Then he got them removed.  They still have a weird look to them- the peak an inch from his armpit is higher than the main biceps peak itself.  Just bumpy, like synthol.  Who knows.  Who cares?

Another one from his site - bicep does not look flexed when extended, but it does look like his left arm is about 2-3 inches bigger than the right one! Maybe he could only afford one implant! LOL

Gerry Blais is who you guys are talking about.  His arms look horrible (and yes, I would say this to his face), but apparently he is a nice guy so that makes up for it.   ::)

http://www.gblaisperformance.photosite.com/2005npcnewenglands/Chapter1

Here is the thread on mayhem from last year:

http://www.musclemayhem.com/forums/showthread.php?t=25335

I dug up a quote from the 2004 New England's where Tim Wescott talked shit about Gerry and his arms.  Meanwhile in the 2005 thread with Gerry participating in it, Tim was kissing his ass.   ::)  I called Tim on it over at www.ironage.us in a PM, and I'm going to point it out here as the type of double standard I hate seeing.   >:(

Meanwhile, in the 2005 thread, I made some comments saying essentially LESS than what Tim did the previous year and guess what?  TIM deleted my post and almost banned me.  In the same thread, check out what Ron Harris said about Gregg Valentino (attachment below).

Wow Ron, if your goal was to reduce your credibility - goal achieved!

Not to mention in the New England's thread people were giving Gerry Blais props for having 24 inch arms!  Unreal.   ???  Don't they realize that while a few select mayhem members will like this, the majority of readers will be turned off and stay away from the board if that is there attitude?

there ya go...................... .............(lol thanx Matt!!)

I do put a lot of energy into my training, which is why I can't stand it when some shithead magazine writer makes stuff up for the hell of it. 315x6 would put his incline bench at around 375, which equates to around a mid 400's bench at 230 lb. I would be willing to bet my getbig account that he can't do full unassisted reps on the incline with 315. Same goes for his 365 lb barbell rows. That's almost 4 plates a side for reps. Most 600 and 700 lb deadlifters would have trouble doing rows with that weight. Complete bullshit.

He might weigh 230, but it's all in his legs and ass. His upper body doesn't look particularly strong. With that kind of bench strength, he should be capable of doing weighted dips with 150-200 lb, yet he can only do 45 lb for a few reps.

Classic GB >:( ;D       Are his strength claims real???  Bicep implants??  Natty or juiced???   Who cares?

Ron is a good guy. Picsin a REAL gym with REAL weights to back-up everything he posts about. Implants nope... Funny but no..  Juiced or not..  I don't care but I know he's on nothing now and hasn't been for a longtime if he ever did anything at all..   Hell he has cranked the 150's Incline. 315 for 6 is no massive feat. Quit bitchin' and get in the gym and train already. this place is seldom ammusing and tired.  I'm currently training to college atheletes that can Incline 315 and just weighed in at 205 and 218 yesterday. Both are over 5'10 and carved out of granite.  Both natty for life and on nothing but vit/mins/protein/herbs/ and the 'SECRET"     F-O-O-D  ..

Oh and Mindspin get a grip.. Everyone in bodybuilding was a cocky know-it-all when they were young and getting their groove on and devoting your life to it...   You were no different when Met-RX gave you your 15 mins..  no hating just the truth.  Jealousy is ugly man..  I was no different.   People change and mature.  Get past it already. Life is too short to be bitter and carry a grudge..

God Bless,

No, I was exagerating a bit to make a point. It just seeemed ridiculous to dispute Ron's lifts since for a veteran trainer of his size they are good of course but not exceptional. As BB's go, they don't even seem boastfull claims but rather a simple log of his training. I don't that Brian X lifts but it did seem silly to get so upset by Ron's claims.

God Bless,

XS

amen to that, this place is getting OLD...I wouldn't dare post a pic or make a claim on lifting anything...

Couldnt' attach 2 pics - here's the bb row - again, form doesn't look so hot as he isn't bending over far enough for what I consider a true bent row!

Thats called a deadlift.lol   He is a good example of someone with terrible genetics making the best of it.  Got to give him props for getting in the trenches, when even winning a state title may be beyond him.

I'm not really criticizing Harris's physique. His arms and chest are his only real weaknesses. I just don't think he has any credibility when it comes to training.

Trust me pal, I'm not bitter about anything.  Anyone who knows me can tell you that I am a down-to-earth regular guy.  But, like anyone I have my pet peeves.  The two I most often rant about are She-Beats & delusional bodybuilders who think that they're "the shit".

I read an article that Harris wrote last year about the Titus after party.  Listening to him brag about his "Movado" watch and all of the other materialistic BS was as humorous as it was sickening.

Glad to hear you put a lot of energy into your training. Keep it up and the gains will come, be it strength and or mass. Again the 315 is not incredible. After 10/12 hours in hospital I have done maybe 2/3 reps with 225 or deadlifted 365 or dumbell inc pressed 90lbs for 6-8. Do I think my lifts are impressive? No! But I've only been doing this inconsistently for 7/8 years.
I don't look like Ron Harris, infact I probably look more like '240 or bust'. So his form on BB row's isn't great judging by those pics and considering his back developement should probably do better reps with less weight but so what. Maybe he gets a kick out of incresing his poundages. Do you never get a buzz out of lifting a weight you have never done before.I got a bigger buzz from the first time I benched 100kg(225lbs) than from making my chest go from 39" to 44". I just can't see the reason for your anger. Of cousre you don't want to see your hardwork in the gym be amde seem like nothing due to some claims on the internet but get real, surely you have seen guys in your own gym who don't look as good as Ron put up similar numbers? I don't for one minute think I'm training in a gym full of freaks and a few guys can hit those weights. One of my old training partners hit 405lbs on incline for 4 reps aged 21 at around 230lbs and 6'2". Did everyone in the gym cry "bullshit"? Of course not.
Good luck with your training buddy but no need to try and discredit Ron when he's not even claiming to be anything special. Peace,
The Doc  ;)

brianx,

when you have Ron's height, bodyfat and weight and on top of that a training experience of 20 years I would surprised if you don't bench that much on the incline.

You are pathetic to think this is a bullshit claim considering these stats.

Points taken and I agree 100%.  But I know Ron wrote that piece for entertainment and shock, NOT to be taken as a serious journalistic endeavor... ;D

Mindspin have you ever contacted RON and talked to him about any of this?? It would probably be an eyeopener and I bet you too would have a lot in common. He's as down to earth and straight forward as most. For me, I'm at a point in my life where I'm 100% for resolution of all and any greivances from me or to me or hell about me..I'll be the bigger man and humble myself to resolve conflict at any level. Life is to short..... But, I have my limit and line in the sand..  Well, I'm feelling like Dr.PHIL LOL  I'm in the middle of something. So it's time to leave this very intelligent and serious discussion on the pro's and con's of site injection's, implants and amazing strength claims..LOL   It's a free country kids... Rant away.

ok, I'm all in favour of not openly bashing board members because they did stupid things - hell, we all have done something stupid at one point or another.  But to actually go ahead and PRAISE him for his synthol use?  Please.   ::)

that was quite a surreal thread on mayhem . . . great evidence of the existence of groupthink.  All these guys first saying there was nothing wrong with Blaze's arms . . . then gradually acknowledging that the emperor actually did have no clothes, but still trying to keep up their "brotherhood" by refusing to say anything about it.

And that dumbass ski was jumping all over the thread, threatening to ban people for saying things that might damage the Brotherhood of the Oil (although i think they thought it was iron).  I used to like Ski, but then he turned into an unreasonable cantankerous old fart who unnecessarily bagged on Fedorov, who to my  knowledge has never said a cocky thing in English. 145 lb. hater=ski, lol.

Yes! I was waiting for someone to finally figure it out! I have talked about "The Exorcist" so many times and I was disappointed no one got this faster. Also, how would Pazuzu have all those pics so fast?

So okay, I am owned, or p*wned, whatever the fuck it is you call it. You win!

All I know is that I am willing to say my real name - Ron Harris!

240, who are you? Where are your pics?
Mindspin, obviously we have met, who are you? I think you would find I am quite a different person than I was a decade ago.

For that matter, who are all of you? I respect Arvilla because he posts under his own name and uses his own pics. That takes a lot more balls than hiding behind some fantasy identity you have created online. If anyone is on here and doesn't even work out, that's really sad.

I can say that I would talk exactly the same to any of you in person as I did online, and the two or three hundred people that came up to me at the Gaspari booth at the Arnold a few weeks ago will all attest to that.

My physique is nothing great, and I am not in danger of breaking any lifting records. But I make a living doing what I love in the sport I love, I have a wife that's been my best friend for 17 years, and two great kids. If you want to bash me, go ahead, but POST YOUR REAL pics at least.

And about Gerry Blais' arms - I was joking. He is a very nice guy and he knows that I know what's up with his arms. As for Valentino, I do believe it's possible that his arms look like that from site-injecting regular gear in his arms 100's and 100's of times. I never in any way said his arms were actual muscle tissue that he had built.

He's been called out a number of times and never posts his pics but he sure as hell will rip someone a new one when they show thier pics...what did Chick call guys like that on his readio show?  Internet super hero's or something.

someone here found it on google cache, and now a few homosexual members like to trade it.  Obviously i'm not pushing it.

Ron Harris,

I am finally becoming a John Romano fan after the terrific way he handled himself on the radio show.  He showed some independent thinking and optimism with the PDI's chances.  Cara from MD is a sweetheart.  Steve Blechman doesn't post much, but when he does, he always is positive.

Why did you feel the need to lie to all of us about your identity today?

And this one - tights are pretty f'ing gay, but the dude has some wheels on him

I am only 28, and I look back at some of the things I said and did when I was a teenager and realize what an IDIOT I was back then. People change, at least I know I have. Don't know if Harris has or not.

Found this on one of his Daily Pumps - if he can do 140's for incline dumbbells, couldn't he use 315 on a bar?

Chest doesn't look tiny here –

I have seen other pics where his biceps were definitely not implants

Arm implants? Harris? Must be a different guy

Honestly, I didn't know how to create a second identity and I already had the Pazuzu screen name. I wanted to play your game for a little while and see how long it took you to figure out that Pazuzu was me. I thought the flood of photos I posted would have given me away.

I work for Steve Blechman and with Romano and call them both friends. All of us love the sport and care about keeping it alive and thriving. PDI can only help toward that. Competition brings out the best in everyone. So even if PDI doesn't succeed as a viable pro federation, it will force the IFBB to step up its game, increase prize money, etc, just like the WBF did.

And I was around and working in the business 15 years ago when the WBF came and went.

As for Titus, several members here were on his jock when he and I were having our differences. It sounded like many idolized the man and called me a pussy for not 'standing up to him,' not realizing that we both worked for the same magazine and I had to find a way to fix things. If the trial brings to light that Craig was a rec drug addict who murdered a 120-pound woman and mutilated her body, is he still a hero to those guys? Will he still be a hero if and when the state of Nevada executes him?

By the way, Craig and Kelly were caught by the Feds literally a half mile from where I sit now. I am sure they both would have been surprised to know that.

Title: Re: Ron Harris strength claims!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I saw the thread and at first I left it alone. Then I said, wait a minute, I can't believe this guy would really think 315 for 6 was a lie. It's not that much weight, really! I had registered here as Pazuzu a few months back, and I can't even remember why - I'm sure one of you can find the first post - maybe it was when someone said I had implants before and I was wondering, where are those implants? Nothing on my physique is so great that it would be mistaken for an implant or Synthol.

I don't think I'm 'the shit' at all. But I have been around a long time. I've competed in 20 shows since 1989. I've had a couple thousand magazine articles printed since 1993. And my web site has close to 4,000 people that subscribe to The Daily Pump, which I have done over 700 editions of since I started it in 2002. I love training and I love competing, and I enjoy helping others reach their goals in both. I know I will never be a pro and I don't want to be a pro. It's a rough life and a hell of a way to try and make a living, especially compared to most other pro sports. But if I can be remembered as someone that got a lot of solid information out there (and yes, a few articles that were purely for entertainment value, like the infamous after party articles), that's great.

By the way, I was at Craig and Kelly's final after-party last October in Vegas. I knew something was up when I saw Craig outside, smoking, before we got to the door, and he looked a lot smaller. Talking to him and Kelly for a little while inside, I knew they were out of the sport for good. I just had no idea it would end the way it did. We had made our peace, and he insisted I sit with him in the little VIP area so he could tell me about the new women's federation they were going to start. For them to be arrested at the same nail salon my wife used to go to, so close to us, was like something out of the Twilight Zone.

And one last thing for tonight - it's all relative! My arms suck compared to Ronnie or Lee's, but to the average person, they are huge.

And some of you guys that have even smaller arms than me, guess what? I am sure that to some people, like a young girl in a nightclub, your arms are huge!

Strength - same thing. I am a lot stronger than a lot of guys, and there are guys that are a lot stronger than THOSE guys. It's all about improvement and effort. If you bench press 225 but you used to only be able to bench 185, you should be proud of that, even if some other guy at your gym can bench 450.

I don't rip on anyone as long as they are trying to improve and they work hard at it, whether they weigh 100 pounds or 300.

Man, what a rough board! No wonder it took me so long to post. But I guess the internet in general's like that. I can't believe that Ron's claims were taken to be so wrong. At 185lbs, I've bent rowed 265, and I am nowhere near a strong guy. So him rowing 365 at 230 after all these years of experience under his belt is far from being unbelievable, yet still a feat. The guy has contributed positively to the industry, stepped on stage more than a few times, and put forth good information to the public- all things I doubt 90% of us on these boards will ever do.

I don't get why Ron felt the need to post under an anonymous account.   ???

He never struck me as an insecure guy, although that mayhem thread was indeed evidence of groupthink.  Tim really pissed me off in that thread.   >:(  Stuff like that may be all fine and dandy for the mayhem asskiss members, but the majority of internet browsers will be turned off by it.  Threads like that really hurt Mayhem's rep, just as some threads on getbig have hurt us.

But why did Ron need to post?  If anything, BrianX's original post completely backfired as most of us believed Ron's claims.  A lot of us were praising Ron, so why did he need to come in here.

Ron, any word on this?  Most of us are on your side.

The fact that he responded to my accusations by posting under some phoney account just proves that I'm correct. He never really challenged anything I said. Harris knows that he can't lift the poundages quoted on his website. End of story.

I will gladly delete my account if he can post video evidence of these lifts. The fact that so many people believed (and still believe) this guy just shows how little the average Getbig poster knows about weight training. If his poundages are correct, Harris should be capable of 200 lb weighted dips and deadlifts with well over 600 lb. I've only seen a few guys who could honestly lift what he claims, and they were all extremely strong on the bench and deadlift. There is no way that someone with a 450 deadlift could do rows with nearly 4 plates a side. It's pure bullshit anyway you look at it.

Why not?
There's is no standard for deadlift.
I'm able to row 440, and do deadlift for 480 for reps,
but I do them (almost) stiflegged from a rack. 100% stifflegged is unhealthy with heavy weights.
I once pulled 320 kg from the floor, 704lbs,
but I don't like that, you're make it a leg excercise.

The only thing that's unbelievable, is dedicated training. These man made a living out of it. If you want to make progress, achieving the same thing is the most stupieds thing I ever heard, keep training,
one day you'll come close or at least make some progress over the years.

So please stop whining about unbelievable, and start training.

Don't knock sarcasm, he impressed us with 105 pound shoulder presses but it seems he's been eclipsed by Ron Harris's 120 anyday, 130 on a good one which means of course he will be responding 1 of 3 ways:

1. Crawling back under his hole
2. Showing some respect
3. Selecting another gimmick account to recommence his attack

Besides that, deadlift on a box? Deadlift without belt?
There a multiple reasons why he has a relative weak deadlift, the rest of the numbers are believable.

This just proves that I'm right. Harris only deadlifts around 330 for 10 reps, but can supposedly do an insane 8 reps with 365 on barbell rows.

330 for 10? I'm sure Ron can lift more than that, unless he has a serious back injury.

Sorry, all this proves is that you are obsessed with a claim no noe cares about about anymore. 200lb weighted dips, what are you talking about. Do believe that if I can bench 225 X 10 that my max should be, I don't know 350lb!. Give it a rest, let it go, can't we all just get a long? ;)

Sarcasm, where are your pics and what have you done in this industry except post tons of negative shit here? What have you contributed to bodybuilding? Have you helped anyone gain size, strength, or lose fat?

And I could indeed behind-neck press 315 back around 1995-1999 when my rotator cuffs were healthy - I can still do overhead db presses with 120's any day and 130's on a good day. How much can you press? WHERE ARE THE PICTURES?

i'm not the one claiming to press 315 behind the neck, your claims are as much bullshit as Jack London's 1000 pound squat and 661 bench claims, so i say to you, let's see the pics of your 315 PBN, put up or shut up.

Why did I post here? For one thing, I like to think that all of us that live the bodybuilding lifestyle, which may or not pertain to everyone that posts on bb message boards I know, have a lot in common. I think it's silly that members of one board hate members of another board. I have had bad experiences here, most notably a series of threads last year about how ugly my wife is (whatever), but I still like to think that most people here are good guys. I do post on Mayhem most of the time, but I like to read GetBig for the bb news Ron Avidan posts. Ron seems like a very decent guy who genuinely loves the sport, just like I do.

As for video proof of lifts, not gonna happen. It's a waste of time. I really don't care what anyone believes or doesn't believe I can lift. My 'claims' are just what I can lift, nothing more, nothing less, and it's ALL RELATIVE. Some of you can't lift what I can, and I am sure some of you can lift a LOT more than I can. As long as we are all training hard and improving, nothing else matters.

As for my BN press with 315, I haven't been able to do that in at least six or seven years. I wrecked my rotator cuffs doing that exercise heavy for several years, as I think most people would.

And one lift does not correlate to another. There are guys what can deadlift 900 pounds but can 'only' squat 700, and vice versa. I have never been good at full deads from the floor, possibly because I have short arms, I don't know. Dave Henry has never done them, neither has Will Harris or Melvin Anthonly, yet they all have really good backs. I can do rack deads from the knees up with 495 for 10 any day, and 585 for 5-6 on a good day. I can use 5-6 plates a side on any Hammer back machine for a few good reps. But I suck at deadlifts. Go figure. I used to train with an ex Army Ranger named Bill Lamphiere (he wrote a book about his experiences leading Contra troops in Nicaragua called "The Secret War). Bill trains up at Powerhouse Gym in Chatsworth, CA now, same gym as Stan McQuay. Stan knows him. Anyway, when we trained, he was about 5-7, 180 pounds, and already over 40 years old, and could pull 495 off the floor for five easy reps. I think he has done over 650 in PL competition. Squatted five or six plates too, with a pause at the bottom! But Bill sucked at the bench press, at least back then. I don't think he could even get a single with 315, using a wide grip and a big arch in his back. Why are most of us good on some lifts and not on others? I think it has a lot to do with your bone structure and the leverages they create, muscle lengths, and other factors someone like Charles Poliquin or Ian King could explain a lot better than I could.

Thanks kid!

You senile asshat, when did I ever say Fedorov's going to be Mr. Olympia? Hell, I don't know what's going to happen.  And neither do you.  Do I think he held his own with Ronnie and Jay pre-pec tear at about 25 or 26? Yes.  Do I think he's still one of the more impressive behemoths out there? Yes. Do I think your skinny short ass is jealous of mass monsters? Yes.

Correction: Lamphiere's first name is John, not Bill. I wrote that post in a hurry.

Here's an even better example of how you can't judge someone's strength by his size. One day at World Gym in Pasadena (now Gold's), a little Japanese guy named Hiro walked in. I knew who he was, because I had seen him before at another Pasadena gym, Brignole's (long since gone), owned by Doug Brignole. Hiro had the world record in the bench press for a while for his weight class, which was something like 105-120, not sure. Anyway, the guy was about five feet tall, certainly no more than that, and weighed about 110-120. He looked athletic, but nothing like a bodybuilder. He didn't have much mass at all. But strong? Shit, was he strong.

I saw him pull 405 off the floor on deads for a few reps that didn't seem too challenging for him, then he pulled 495 for a single. He rested at the juice bar and had a shake, then went back and did his squats. Again, it was the same thing. Deep reps with 405 (maybe 3-4), then he did a single with 495. He had a spotter with him, but the guy was not touching him. Ironically, I didn't get to see him bench, which was what he was really good at. Can't say what he could bench, but I am very sure that looking at this little man, there is no way in Hell you would ever dream he could move the weights he did.

BrianX, I don't care how much weight you can lift, because it has NOTHING to do with my own training and goals. You shouldn't care how much I lift, either. Bodybuilding is about developing your physique, not pushing up a lot of weight. If that's your deal, look into powerlifting or strongman events. In those sports, there are strict guidelines as to how the lifts must be performed, with judges making sure they are followed. And if you are stronger than others in those sports, you win. In bodybuilding, theoretically if a guy has the best physique on stage, it doesn't matter if he's the strongest or weakest man up there. I look at things from the point of view of a competive bodybuilder, because that's what I have been for the past 17 years of my life.

How old are you and how long have you been training? If you are upset because I am stronger than you (maybe you're stronger than me, I have no idea and again it's not an issue), there is a good chance that in time you will become as strong or perhaps far stronger than I am. I hope you do! I really wish nothing for the best for all that are sincere about improving their bodies.

No you didn't.  Ron, why are you concerning yourself with some negative comments by the queens on here?   ???  I've had my pics posted up here before and was ripped a new one.  Do you see me losing sleep over it?  Hell no.

None of these guys would say it to your face.  That's what the internet is all about.  People just think they are talking to a computer screen.  I think we're all guilty of it to some degree.

http://www.musclemayhem.com/forums/showthread.php?t=25335

Ron: this is EXCELLENT evidence for the existence of "groupthink" as Al-Gebra pointed out.

Notice how some people came on to say that Gerry's arms didn't look good only to have Tim Wescott go psychotic on them and threaten to ban them.   ::)

Wouldn't want to ruin all those pages of "camaraderie and inspiration" as Tim pointed out.   ::)

Tim reminds of my Sargeant Major when I was in the Canadian Forces (Don Fry).  Complete brainwashed moron with a tenth grade education.  Tim looks like him physically and is only a couple of years older so whenever I think of Tim I think of Don (who is a complete dumbass).

Don was a lot like Tim was in that post too.  Taking the side of the person (Gerry) who was completely out of line (with synthol).  Just as Don would only listen to whoever had the higher rank, and not who was right.   :P  That is why that post struck a chord.  That type of thing on mayhem is why I don't go back there any more, but I have heard the board has vastly improved lately (less pro ass kissing).

hm, ok.  I guess it is true that some things would be said in person.  I would tell Gerry Blais that his arms are a disgrace to bodybuilding if the discussion ever came up.  Not that I would just go up to him and say that, but if we got on the topic, I would outright tell him his arms are a travesty of competitive bodybuilding.
notice that i'm not calling Ron names or calling his wife names or being disrespectful in that regard i just have a problem with the weights he claims and i would tell him that to his face no doubt about it, the guy does have a decent physique.

Bodybuilders always say that when challenged on their lifts. If strength wasn't so important, you wouldn't have felt the need to lie about your lifts in the first place.

BTW, quit changing the subject. I'm well aware that bodybuilders don't train for strength. ::)

Please explain how being 'owned' works. Are you forced to enter into some form of indentured servitude or slavery? And to assume said 'ownership,' I would assume some legal documents need to be filled out, signed, and notarized by all parties?

It is basically winning a point.  Of course it can balloon out in scale to much bigger points or bigger victories but the concept remains the same.

This is a good example of someone who cannot win a point "claiming an owning" because he is infact inept at debating the subject.  He is either a puppet (another account) of sarcasms or someone with his nuts in his mouth (using a puppet gives him an opportunity to extend himself into immature territory so he is not seen being unreasonably stupid on his sarcasm account).

It was funny though.

Ron and Tim came on here and selfpw3d themselves . . . especially Ron with his gay-ass self promotion.  You can tell how badly it chaps his hide that he doesn't have good genetics for really pretty much anything.

Pazuzu: "Look, guys . . . here's a pic of Ron, where his quads don't look half bad.

Here's my wife, isn't she hot?

I wrote 2,000 articles for publications that people pick up in grocery stores so that they can look at the pictures."

Whatever, dude.

Come on, he's right there with jack london with his whole "i'm so happy with my wonderful life that I have to go on the internet and reveal every detail of it" attitude.

People who really have happy lives don't need to come here for validation as Ron repeatedly has in this thread.

Everything you say is based on poor judgement and heavy assumption.  The sort of thing I would expect from someone coming here to validate their shitty life versus some people making a living doing what they love.  Completely oblivious to your own self loathing yet casting doubt on others.  Pure irony.

I know reading this you will of course be embarassed and have to come back with a slew of abuse but take a moment to consider your motives for judging Ron based on a few sentences.

People who really have happy lives don't assume the most negative path for people repeatedly either.

I won't deny a certain amount of self-loathing . . . why should I?

I'm just helping ron see himself in a clearer light. ;)

some people have it together more than others, you don't catch me fucking around with them. but you're wrong if you think I'm going to pass up a sitting duck like Pazuzu.

here's a couple lines for you.

"Ever seen the human heart? It looks like a fist wrapped in blood."

we were all born with the desire to pick off the weak. it's programmed in us for better or for worse. some of us just do a better job of hiding it than others.

Well I can't say much to that, I only have a problem with stupid people here who have no self awareness.  If you know what you are and what you're doing then its fine by me.

I do agree with what you are saying about human nature.  I just didn't happen to agree with bringing it upon someone who seems to have a fairly well adjusted perspective of his role.

Sorry to say, 'Al-gebra' that you haven't made me depressed or ashamed of who I am or what I do. To paraphrase Bart Simpson, "I'm Ron Harris, who the fuck are you?" You could be anybody hiding behind that screen name. Maybe you are a 15-year-old kid that's never had a date and is picked on, and GetBig is where you have your fantasy life of 'owning' people and being a tough guy. I am sure it wouldn't be the first time this has happened online.

Obviously I don't know who you are, never will, and neither will anyone else. You do sound angry, bitter, and jealous, for what reasons I don't know. Your words mean nothing to me because you are nothing but a faceless, anonymous screen name on a bodybuilding message board. I expect a whole lot of vicious bile back from you now, with a whole slew of insults about me. But I won't let them get to me. I have earned a reputation in this industry over the past 15 years. No, not everyone likes me, but they all realize that I have been around a long time and I'm not going anywhere. My genetics do suck, but I love training and challenging myself, so I will never stop training either.

Worry about yourself and how to make your life better. Worry about how you can have more success and happiness. Being a negative hater is not going to do anything to improve your life.

If you do decide you want to start trading insults with me, I won't. I'll leave the thread alone because I don't have time like that to waste. I have a career, a wife, two kids, and the gym to occupy my time. So you can go ahead and brag about how you 'owned' me or whatever, good for you! You win! Win what? You are an anonymous NOBODY.

I really wish nothing for the best for all that are sincere about improving their bodies.

brian actually has a crush on you ron he told me through pm

he's like those 3rd grade girls who tease the boys they have a crush on

I want to know what people think of musclemayhem and the "groupthink" concept as well as Tim Wescott's completely unreasonable moderating tactics.   >:(

I think that everyone was required to pic sides whenever the pros went at it. So you had many nuthuggers. The mods also had wildly different rules for the pros and the regulars.

I stopped posting there when I realized disagreeing with Tim was grounds for being banned.  What Tim repeatedly called "fair moderating tactics".   ::)

Actually, I still post there a bit, because lately it has changed.  It's hard to keep down the people forever.

which one is Tim?

1. the crackhead
2. the drunk
3. the anorexic
4. all of the above

The site became ridiculous. The Dogg Pound could say whatever they wanted and pros could run wild. There was a "cult of kindness" that insisted that people not bash certain other people, but it was just as ridiculous as the bashing that goes on here, except Getbig doesn't have the creepy internet fascism.

Yeah - you couldn't disagree with a pro even in a respectful manner, and when you did, seemingly the bashing policy no longer applied (as you would get bashed like mad).   ::)

Chad and Mike seem like decent guys.  Even Tim and Massive G are ok, but altogether I'm weary of that board.  Much as I am weary of ironage, and I am very upfront about saying that, even on those boards.

I don't know if I could stand Ironage. I like the older physiques, but the way they talk about some of them as if they were flawless is tiresome.
Title: Re: Ron Harris strength claims!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Post by: LuciusFox on April 06, 2006, 10:04:40 PM
It is hard for me to say anything on ironage without risk of my comments being deleted.  Also, a lot on that board refuse to admit that the only change between bodybuilders today and bodybuilders of yesterday is that they are simply more muscular.  They honestly think Lee Haney would just look like a larger version of himself if he bulked up to 300 pounds.  It is such a pipe dream I can't even believe people really think that.   ???

That is my favorite delusion. They photoshop pics of Arnold and Sergio and leave their waists the same size and don't think anything of it. They are so delusional they don't realize that they would take the same stuff today's pros do. It's kind of scary. :-\

Bob Chick was the post changer.  It was verified.  After being neutered for his behavior, he stuck around to gloat and tell us "if you don't like it, then leave", then he hasn't been back since.

most likely he's busy facing the fact that he's still 3 weeks out for a show that is only a week away.

Hon, let me explain a couple things to you.  I never said I won anything, or that I even pwn3d you . . . although it's fairly clear to any impartial observer that you are getbigpwn3d. Don't worry, it happens to almost everyone.

And if I didn't get under your skin, you wouldn't be having this . . . "Meltdown" as sarcasm put it

As for insulting you, I don't plan on doing that . . . you're already doing a great job of exposing your pale white underbelly (I am, of course, speaking mostly metaphorically) for a good skewering from the others.  I was merely commenting on the kind of behaviour you were engaging in.

And do try to be original, Rocket already used the "slew of abuse/insults" line.

I want to hear people's opinions on the mayhem post regarding "groupthink".

I also want to hear everyone's opinion on how Tim Wescott dealt with that situation.

Where people are not confident about the power of what they are expressing, they have to use other means to bolster that expression . . . hence Tim's and the getbig post modifier's behaviour.

Mayhem also wants to keep the pros by kowtowing to them.  Getbig gets and keeps more pros by getting them emotionally involved (examples are Lee Priest, Bob C, Melvin, RJ . . . the list goes on).  Even if they don't post on here, I bet a lot of them read the boards.  How many times have we had pros log on here and post when comments are made about them?
EDIT: I'll bet that Branch read the comments made about him personally, and did n't need a "friend" to bring it to his attention.

I like this board . . . despite the occasional blips, for the most part Ron recognizes the power of unfettered expression.
