Well, age is a bitch.
Im sure he was in better shape when he was younger.
Diet, change or priorities and life experiences can change a person physique drastically from 30 to 50.
Some are very blessed in the genetics department and can still look relatively young at 40-50.

Everyone has their own definition of fitness and I can respect that. Some of the best and brightest people I personally know that are true experts in the fitness world don't look like bodybuilders and some don't even look like they train but the knowledge they have and the advice they give I consider as gold. A good friend (and business mentor) of mine received the IDEA Jack Lalanne fitness award and is the lead training advisor for UnderArmour and took runner up to last seasons "Strong" isn't a big guy but one of the best fitness entrepreneurs and smartest people I know. He's my "go to" person, bodybuilding aside.

I agree with this. Additionally, these workout programs that have you doing heavy squats, deadlifts and bench presses can be fun and will get you strong...but...they are a recipe for fried joints and pain as you get older. Focusing on generalized strength using body weight exercises and lower/moderate weight with free weights is probably the best way to go for longevity and health. Too many guys living this gladiator/beast/bro science life style as if deadlifting 500 pounds is going to mean anything to anyone. Unless you are an athlete that is pursuing a lucrative contract or a con artist making your money in the fitness industry, it's completely useless. And by the way, Rich piana doesn't even squat or deadlift ever and he's very successful in the fitness industry so that proves it isn't even necessary.

you can look good even with a shitty technique at performing lifts but with big weights you'll eventually end up hurting yourself ...coaching a technique suitable for your mobility patterns and eventually making someone progress at their lifts etc is something else and 99% of jacked fitness gurus and instagram whores don't know shit when it comes to healthy and safe training ...99% of the population can't even walk properly yet alone perform basic lifts, good coaches are rare, but social media ftness ''experts'' are everywhere ...they are really the worst of the fitness industry

so the logic here is that someone who doesnt look like he train doesnt know what he's talking about and someone with a lot of muscle do.
the problem with that is that the one with a lot of muscle is probably genetically gifted and/or juiced.
clearly there need to be other ways to figure out ones expertise than just by appearance.
as far as actual tecnique goes, appearance means nothing as we can see from strength coaches, wrestling coaches, boxing coaches, powerlift coaches etc from all around the world.

His routine itself is solid for a beginner to bring his overall strength up quickly before switching to a more balanced routine but I'd ignore his diet advice and just eat slight over maintenance and not turn into a fat pile of shit like most his clients

Comparing a gymnastic coach to a lifting coach is truly apples to oranges. I would expect a lifting coach to be a lifter. Rippletoe is 61 years old. He is a strength coach. Look at how many fat slobs are very strong. I look at fitness as having a little of everything. Cardio fitness, anaerobic fitness, low rep strength, muscular endurance, and power. Naturally when you train for all you end up not specializing.

Most of get biggers will look like crap at 50 never mind 61. Don't know too much about him but I wouldn't be surprised if he could out power lift 90% of get big members.

What that boils down to is that in your mind anybody who is 50 or older and in shape is on drugs. Kind of hard to engage this topic when you tout the gh15 party line. I will leave you with this: rippetoe looks like shit, his followers look like shit, and there is no deadlift platform set up in the middle of the nightclub.
