Who really gives a sht. 80% of the people hear could take the same amount of gear as any pro, and still not be competative on the national level. Unless you follow the HUGE program, found in FLEX, and take all of your vitamins and EFA's.
-
Oke,
let's replace pro with amature, or damngoodlooking guy with very low fat,
Do I think it's possible. Yes.
Genetics and constant workouts do more for ya than gear, cause in the end, you still have to lift. The gear is just the finishing touch.
Cause don't forget, pro's do 2 or three shows a year,
you can't buildup, trim down and buildup again and trim down in a matter of months.
-
what he's saying is that since everyone is on gear the playing field is level. the deciding factor is the dedication.
-
the deciding factos in getting a pro card are (not in particular order)
1) hormones (doses, quality, type, timing etc)
2) food (if you dont eat whatever you see and i mean whatever you see from fried veals to curly fries to ketchop with potatos to steaks to lean turky sousages to tator tots to icecream to clean chiken breasts to eggwhites...you will never become anything in the bodybuilding industry! sounds weird and wrong but the only time for the clean diet you all love to talk about with 8 clean meals a day is 14 weeks pre stage time. you need calories and a lot of calories a lot more than you think. no hormone will make the magic when it comes to bulking unless provided with tons of calories. INFACT hormones will do more magic during cutting when you have the mass needed. always remember for the average bodybuilding joe 14-15% inorder to go on stage he will have to lose roughly 50 pounds! yes 50 pounds not 20 and not 30.
3) respond to hormones (you wont go on a national stage unless you earn the right to be there by winning a state competition and you wont win a state competition unless your body respond to hormones fantastically.
4) training (this is where it all begins YOU MUST TRAIN RIGHT. when i mention you can eat whatever you want in the "offseason" time i consider the average bodybuilding joe to train right and with good form with the correct weight! heavy yes but not too heavy where you work your ego. if priest take 35-45lb dumbells to train his 21 inch arms you can train your arms with 30lb and grow them. the moment you start working with 70lb 80lb and your arms are 16 inch with another inch of water that makes them 17 inch.. you wont grow nothing . you need to work out right and as heavy as YOUR OWN BODY LETS YOU. you train your ego and you will never even do one competition! might be called big guy but you wont have a bodybuilder look you aim for so much.
thats it. follow those 4 tips and you will do nationals within 3 years considering you already have a good foundation and willing to compete and get critiqe.

GH15
I disagree with your number 2. Have you ever competed? because it doesn't sound like it. Off season doesn't mean you eat a bunch of shit. If you follow that you must be one fat f***. Sure in the off season you can cheat more i.e. 1 cheat meal a day (depending on your genetics and insulin sensitivity). Off season you consume more calories through .......wait for it.......MORE FOOD. Most guys take in a very large amount of carbs. Good carbs. Not curly fries and ice cream. Give me a break bro. If you believe you can eat all the crap you want and take a bunch of gear, train right and compete at a National level in 3 years I have some GH from Dave Palumbo I'd like to sell you. ::)

Hahhahahahahahahahahahah ahahahahahahahahahahahah aha, oh brother what a wannabe, hahahahahahahahahahahaha hahahahahaha I can't hold my laughter hahahahahahahahahahahaha hahahahahahahahahahahaha hahahahahahaha!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
-
Thanks GH15 ! I am honestly tired of all the bodybuilding magazines and things claiming you will look like this if you eat your vegetables and eat super clean and take your vitamins. I also agree with the amount of weight you use I think it is important to remember its bodybuilding not body throwing. The mind muscle connection has helped me alot as well .60lb Dbs can be made to feel like 100lb if you do it correctly.

Absent - Not sure what you mean, explain. Wannabe?

good post gh15 seem's reasonable.

I agree, steroids are nothing more than a finishing touch, if used properly. They are really almost an afterthought.

Your delusion just keeps growing, "They are really almost an afterthought" is officially the most moronic statement I have ever read.
Good Lord, do you call Vince MSF POO PIS on a regular basis to ask his advice on what the most outrageously delusional thing you can post is?

Absent - I've only competed once and placed 2nd in my class but thanks again for the amazing insight you always provide. Do you have any more stories about how your gym teacher made you cry ::)

They are an afterthought because pros are always focusing on their next meal, their next workout, the next time they get to see their family. Compared to that, steroids are an afterthought. Not to mention the fact that many pros take next to nothing. No, I haven't talked to Vince.

Just to put thing's in perspective ,I trained in a gym with a guy who i became semifriendly with he did not compete and trained 10yrs clean and now 5 years not and pretty nonstop ,strong as hell and fairly lean he was 5'4 and 230 ish and wide,we did not discuss specifics like dosage number's but he was using gh small amounts ius,and number anabolic's and tried insulin .HE would do well as competitor don't understand why he would'nt considering his regimen, nice guy too.

Different genetics and because Bonds truly DID use them as a finishing touch.

oh, so the 25 lbs that he gained between 2000-2001 (where you will find documents of dates and dosages) was a complete fluke compared to the 6-8 years he had been training prior?

Look around your gym and any gym you'll soon find out.

Are you talking about Gabe or Barry?

barry, man!!
When he hooked up with that trainer at around that time (2000-2001), that was the year he gained a huge amount of weight. He had been gaining slightly from about 1997 while training, but during that one year he put on a lot of mass. It's hard to argue with that.

Don't forget about the home run totals. If he had not been on 'roids, 'slin, and growth, he would have only hit 66-69 homeruns that one year. But he utilized the 5-10% finishing touch advantage to hit a whopping 73 homers.

Good point, brother. Roger Maris hit 61 homers and he wasn't even muscular. The question is,though, do steroids help you hit the ball 5-10% longer, or do they help you hit 5-10% more home runs?

I'm inclined to believe that the 5-10% edge is seen pretty much across the board. I'm sure those naturals whose average outfield fly ball is 400 feet away see that average go up to 420-440 feet on the juice, with a corresponding 5-10% increase in homers. Likewise, those .300 batting averages become .315-.330, and stolen base totals would certainly also go up 5-10%. And let's not forget about the once natural pitchers whose paltry 90 mph fastballs become turbo charged 94.5-99 mph rockets when on the sauce. Just think about what will happen once tanning becomes fashionable in the major leagues!... :o
-
They are hyperresponders which does equate to good genetics (response to gear).
saying that makes you sound like a total geek. "hyperresponder" hahahah

The great part is that with their long schedules, they are out in the sun enough to get natural tans!

Some of that may be true, but the effect that steroids would have on a batting average would be negligable. Hitting homeruns, throwing a fastball, and to some extent stealing bases have much more to do with strength and than having a keen batting eye and excellent hand-to-eye coordination. Those that have won batting titles in the last decade have not necessarily been big or strong, and averages as a whole (contrary to homeruns) have not increased any signigicant level.

well i have done "few" competition in my life ;) but i'm not the issue here. i wrote this post in order to help you somewhat in putting muscle size. the bodybuilder who eats clean all year round will never put muscle size and will always look the same from year to year! might be better conditioned due to hormone use and training but his overall muscle mass will remain stuck around the same numbers plus minus 2-3lb.
you must stop reading bullshit this is the first key to getting anywhere in bodybuilding. you need ZERO supp and i talk to you here from my heart trying to help you...trust me i got a lot better things to do...anyways no supp needed! only calories and lots of them with constant hormone use and good 4-5 times/ week training in a gym of your choice
you must understand that in the 40s 50s 60s 70s and even 80s no one went by the 8 clean meals a day idea....they ate a lot and everything in site and tried to keep it clean few months pre competition and that is it! in the offseason the key was lots of calories/day with intense, hard and good form training.
the reason you see us pros so big is mainly the calories we eat with the response we have to hormones. when i say calories we eat i am talking offseason calories and that includes almost everything! from curly fries to steaks to puncakes to spagetti to sushi to even chinease!!! ask dex a little he will tell you...actually he probably wont bother to tell you that.. why arguing and trying to explain...we eat everything in the offseason like a regular person only diff is that we eat like 2 regular persons and thats why we also look like 2 regular persons combined.
the best example i can find inorder to get it in your head is the local cop in your us city/town....take a good look at the local police in your town. they are always big right? they dont look at what they eat...yet they always look big and you always ask yourself...damn how come i train so hard and then when they come to bust my friend;) or to train in my gym or to buy something in 7-11 those cops look 2 times bigger than me and a lot THICKER.....the answer is food baba LOTS OF FOOD! it dont matter that 80% of them are fat pigs...but under those 40-42 inch waist there is lots and lots of muscle...let them eat clean for 2-3 months and they will look a lot more muscular than the average gym rat that follows clean diet year round with 1 cheat meal a week...it is same for country guys like a bodybuilder you probably know that living in a small town surrounded by whole milk products and good ole beef and bbq chikens..they grow cause they eat and eat and eat and then train and train and train and then add hormones and lots of them into the plate.
there are few rules needed to follow even in "offseason" and they are HIGH protien, some balance in the meals (go by what you feel and the mirror) when i say some balance i mean you dont have to eat steak and curly fries with bbq souce every single meal....try to go for lean turky and bbq chiken once in a while with baked potato but in general you can eat whatever the fuck you want as long as you keep protien high and make sure the saturated fat is not sky rocketing every meal.
if you are a bodybuilder or a guy that is trying to compete...try this for 6 months you got nothing to lose...you will see that the hardest thing to do is to lose bodyfat when eating clean all the time! it's a lot easier to lose bodyfat when you actually gain muscle and thus your bodyfat deceases due to the overall lean mass increase. the time to see single digit bodyfat% is only 14-16 weeks pre competition...otherwise you should aim for 10-13% in order to be able to grow from year to year. it dont mean you need to be a fat ass and be 16-18% like the representetive of ours ;) offseason but 10-13% is very common.. and any serious competetive bodybuilder is working this way.
it is very simple you eat clean all year long and wanna be something in the bodybuilding/fitness industry...max you will be is a 190/195lb fitness model but you will not get to be as big as us and def wont compete on the national stage. another thing you need to know is that most fitness models i know come from bodybuilding backround and before they were 190lb 6% they used to be 230pounders/10% with some npc competitions behind them.

Tom Prince stated that steroids were the LAST reason that anyone turned pro and was successful. Arnold Schwarzenegger himself stated that steroids were a finishing touch and Lee Haney made similar comments. Many pros have inhuman size before even dabbling in steroids. They add, on average, only 5-10% to a physique.
-
Thanks to Mike Arvilla for digging this up. I had read this on BB.com some time ago:
http://forum.bodybuilding.com/showthread.php?t=346423
This is not meant to bash Tom Prince or anything, but do pros honestly believe that it is their hard work in the gym that make them become that massive, rather than the pharmacy of gear each one has in their fridge? ???
I'm not saying they don't bust their ass. They train hard just like naturals do. The only difference I can think of is that psychologically they probably could not train without the rapid gains brought on by gear. To be natural requires a helluva lot more patience.
You know what's amaing? That this guy has the gals to actually say it's about "hard work", even though he suffered severe kidney damage and was hooked to a dialyses machine for a month, to save his life. Appaling. The only thing that's even funnier is Baddel saying:

Exactly! And don't forget about Tom Platz - for him, steroids were only a 2% edge. As I've said before, he talked about how going on short, modest precontest cycles of steroids was like cleaning up and hand waxing his Corvette. He made this comparison many times in numerous muscle magazine articles over the years. Do I have to humble you all with references to articles by Zulak and other writers of similar integrity and expertise? Let's see the cynics among you refute such an ironclad source of honest, accurate info as the muscle mags. I'll guess next you guys will start questioning the National Enquirer.

Yeah, they are so desperate that they are willing to do anything but accept the truth. Platz and the two Mr. Olympias I mentioned have 15 titles between them , definitely know what they are talking about. Like wax on a Corvette indeed. That backs up my assertion that steroids are like a tan.

True. But if you look at the sport in general, most top 25 guys are insecure by nature. It's that very trait that usually lets them reach the top in such an ego-driven and isolated sport.

very true. and this is why I think that some people, with less ability will succeed over those people who, on the surface appear to have better talent in this area.
The drive to prove yourself by proving other people wrong, inspite of this being ultimately detrimental to ourselves - is a very strong drive.
