I thought Bill Kazmaier was the strongest man who ever lived, the 3x worlds strongest man has even stated he thinks he is...its hard to argue with lifts like these:
Competition Squat: 925 pounds-wr
Competition Bench: 661 pounds-wr
Competition Deadlift: 887 pounds-wr
Total in Competition: 2425 pounds-wr
BUT THEN CAME RHINO!!!!!!!!! This veritable unknown has come out of the woodwork claiming to bench the exact same amount to the pound as Kaz and out sqaut him by 75 lbs all at a bodyweight at least 40 lbs lighter!!!!! Yet he remained in obscurity until the PDI because he simply lifts in "unsanctioned meets"
HAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAA This guy talks so much shit I can smell his breath on the other end of the continent HAHAHAHAHAHA
-
hahahaha, what's more amazing is that those lifts were done with 17 inch arms and 23 inch legs.

What impressed me (and many others) even more than his official lifts, however, was Paul Anderson's still unequaled prowess in the deep knee bend or squat. Outshining his historic performances in the Olympic lifts, Dr. Strossen writes, "[Anderson's] squatting ability surpassed anyone's wildest dreams...He was getting close to squatting double what the record had been before he assaulted it." At a time when the world record was around 650, Anderson was doing 900 pounds for reps in exhibitions. He eventually squatted 1160 before reputable witnesses at Muscle Beach and again on The Ed Sullivan Show before a national television audience. Pressed for his all-time best, Anderson told Strossen, "I did 1200 face value with no reservations whatsoever." As to doubting Thomases, he said, "My squatting power was never challenged or no one ever disputed it after they saw me do, say, 10 reps with 800"--which he did many times as a guest lifter at early powerlifting contests.

It means you competed as an eligible college student and placed first or second in a given sport. 1st team and second team, respectively.
I was a national champiion, which means I was an all-american, first team. It means that I was first place.
In 1988 I was also pound for for pound the strongest lifter in the nationals, as determined by the "schwartz formula". Oh, this was @ Temple Unitversity, if anyone wants to check.

hahahahahahahahaha those soup can presses really built alexxx's shoulders.

I was Google'ing some powerlifting sites and ran across this - http://www.usaplnationals.com/2005womens/champions.html (http://www.usaplnationals.com/2005womens/champions.html) Not only do the women lift some respectable weights, some are pretty good looking. My favorite is Priscilla Ribic.

Did he say the lifts were performed raw? They were probably done with a bench shirt and squat suit, in which case they aren't that unbelievable.

Great point! Jack is an honest guy, he wouldn't lie about something like this. BTW, just got down squatting, ass-to-grass, 138*10.

Yes, I used shirt and suit. I will say that is was not like the shirts they use today, It was the 80's. It was a basic shirt, not even denim. The shirts today put like 400lbs on your bench. The shirts back then put on like 80-100lbs.
Same with the squat suit, but yes, i did use this equipment, as did everone else.
By the way, my best squat, recorded, in a sanctioned meet, was 871lbs-collegiate nationals.
I later squatted the 1000, in a local, closed meet, but it did happen.

The shirts today are amazing. Really makes you wonder what they will do in the future. The poor deadlift will be left behind. :-\

Not to give you a hard time...but "no shirt"=raw...like How Kaz did it, Ted Arcidi used the same type of shirt as you woulda back then and he has never claimed to have benched 700 RAW..its misleading at the least...
WHO ARE WE KIDDING...YOU LIED AND GOT CAUGHT HAHAHAHAHAHAHAH

Are there any height or bodyfat percentage clauses to that cutoff rule?

Are there any height or bodyfat percentage clauses to that cutoff rule?
I'm pretty sure that they just made up that rule. Ron never said anything about it before.
-
Are there any height or bodyfat percentage clauses to that cutoff rule?
Height, minimum of 5'7", bf is dependent on body weight. The higher the weight, the more lenient. Gotta give a man some time to bulk up.

This thread couldn't be stupider, it wouldn't matter if Rhino out benched, squatted, and deadlifted Kaz by 100lbs on each lift...in regards to "TRUE STRENGTH" he isn't even a pimple on Kazs a*s. Newsflash for some of you morons out there... weights are balanced, even, symetrical, and they dont fight back. That is why their is a huge difference between real living weight and gym weight, and the same reason why you could put Rhino on a mat with a grappler he outweighed by 40+ lbs and he would get his a*s owned. The same goes for what Kaz was capable of, those WSM and IFSA events are in a whole different world than benching and deadlifting. The brute force, speed, explosiveness, and true strength that Kaz possessed makes comparing these two as logical as comparing apples to oranges.

"Okay, i was'nt an all-american? Go find out-I dare you. I was the coligiate national champion in powerlifting, yes an all-american"
since when has powerlifting ever been a NCAA sanctioned sport?
just because you competed in something called "collegiate" doesnt make you an a real all-american. thats like those retard juicers competing in the npc collegiate bodybuilding show that anyone can compete in as long as they are a registerd student at any college. in no way are they sanctioned or endorced by the ncaa. just another example of a bodybuilder exaggerating anything and everything he can think in an attempt to look good. they all do it, even the supposedly intelligent ones.
keep making up the bullshit like the "no shirt"......"well what i mean is no shirt like the shirt they use today". thats good stuff.

He meant that the shirt wasn't like modern ones. If he said he had used a shirt, people would say that it added 200 pounds to his lift and he couldn't do 500 raw. That's how this site is.
-
Mark Henry is quite the beast. He had 10 inch wrists!
damn skippy he crushed eveyone at the Arnold or GNC strong man show a few years back, I believe he doubled a 885 dead and went on to win the overall
mark is a true beast now in the WWE
and he can dunk a basketball weighing near 400 pounds
:o

what part of "his site specifically says 661 bench/no shirt" do you not understand?
no shirt = no shirt
no shirt /= a shirt unlike present shirts
is that difficult to understand? just like every other bodybuilder, he is a liar.

The explosiveness of Olympic lifters is shocking. This other American guy is 5-8 and 335 and he can dunk without running.

Nope. The strongest man, of all times, has a diferent name:Greg Kovacs. The only Human being, !ever!, who could challenge a silverback gorilla for a strengh contest--although only the smallest and weakest members of the species. The largest silverback gorillas make Kovacs seem like a little girl, in comparison.

You're saying that Kovacs is stronger than Kaz, Anderson, Coan, Clark, Goggins, Pasanella, Captain Kirk, etc. Any evidence other than MuscleTech ads / Muscle Mag articles (same thing) to back this up? And let's exclude assisted lifts, partials, and Smith machine lifts.

Kovacs reportedly benched 725 raw. He is second only to Isaac Nesser when it comes to strength.

Squats and deads don't matter. The bench is the real test of total body strength. It was a regulation lift.

The bench press is the most important lift because it is the most popular. So it must be the best test of strength.

How big was Kovacs at his peak and what were his best lifts?
At his absolute peak, Kovacs was 440 lbs, but with a bodyfat around 15%. Here follows his best lifts:
Incline press:600 lbs, 6+ reps
Dead-lift:800 lbs, 3 reps(only lift that Coleman is as strong as kovacs)
Front military press:445 lbs, 12 reps
Squat:890 lbs, single
Leg press:2500 lbs, 15 reps; 3000 lbs, single
Flat dumbbell press:300 lbs dumbbells, 5 reps
One-arm dumbbell row:300 lbs dumbbells, 8 reps
Hope this helps. Kovacs has terrible bodybuilding genetics, but a monstrous one for size and strengh.

Garry Frank
"Garry called for 931 pounds for his third and final attempt. With the roar of the frenzied crowd Garry approached the bar like a machine ready to do what he does best! When all was said and done Garry ripped 931 off the floor like it he was stealing candy from a baby. He held it there long enough to make sure everyone knew who now was the worlds strongest deadlifter. If any of you were in attendance there you will attest that it looked like he could have done a triple with that weight. It was just that easy for him!"
I agree with Brian Dobson (metroflex owner) though - if Big Ron wanted to, he could be the greatest powerlifter of all time too - his total already is 2095lbs (800lbs [x2] deadlift + 800lbs [x2] squat + 495lbs [x6] bench) - and that's at 5-7% bf!! If he put on more weight (water and fat) and trained specifically for a meet, Coleman could own everyone! Maybe that's what he'll do when he retires 10x Mr. O . . .

People like Ronnie and Kovacs always seem like they could do these things because they are just potential as far as being elite powerlifters, and people often exaggerate potential.

Kovacs' numbers were made up by MuscleTech - Ronnie's lifts are recorded on tape - don't insult Coleman by comparing him to Greg Kovacs . . .

Kovacs is on tape incline pressing 5 or 6 plates a side on the Smith Machine. I haven't seen the rest of the video, but he has been witnessed performing impressive feats in the gym, including 500*10 on the flat bench.

Guys put claims like this up. there is a huge difference between 5 or 6 plates a side.

He claimed it was 6, but people said that there was some "unusual editing" and that it was really 5.
