More than 1 in 3 Americans prescribed opioids in 2015
Nearly 92 million U.S. adults, or about 38 percent of the population, took a legitimately prescribed opioid like OxyContin or Percocet in 2015, according to results from the National Survey on Drug Use and Health.
"The proportion of adults who receive these medications in any year seemed startling to me," said study co-author Dr. Wilson Compton, deputy director of the U.S. National Institute on Drug Abuse.

the rest are fucked....

Addiction is unfortunately a common occurrence in our population - it' pretty surprising how many folks need a fix to make it through the day.
Hard to gauge which drugs should be allowed and how they should be handled... especially in our "modern" world.
-
which corrallates so very highly with how many americants are fat asses
-
add to that their cellphones and you got a population of zombies

It's because we're not really designed for this type of high pace stressful lifestyle.

Internet and social media has probably done some of the biggest damage to humanity. We'll never recover.

A large part of the problem is it you forget that the majority of the population isn't like us is a familiar with drugs. Majority the population are fucking idiots who will take and do whatever a doctor says. Take a doctor's word for it and have absolutely no clue that painkillers are opiates just like heroin. What the fuck you think heroin is? Diacetylmorphine. Its just a modified morphine, yet people will take MSContin (MSContin= morphine sulfate continuous release... basically crap with the incredibly shity bioavailability. Yet does work on people who are opiate naive) for a back injury for 6 months straight and wonder why when the doctor stops go on their prescriptions says they don't need them anymore and cuts him off cold turkey if they go through fucking withdrawal, while having most likely no clue what the fuc withdrawal is. All they know is they're out of their pain pills that they've been taking religiously every morning and throughout the day for the past few months and all of a sudden they don't have those pills anymore to take first thing in the morning and they're having anxiety attacks and they're sweating profusely and their skin is crawling and their nose is running and I keep yawning and they keep sneezing and something in the back of their head tells them this shit would all go away if I had only add a few of whatever painkillers they have been taking.. .. soap they Google it and find out there in opiate withdrawal by golly, and the only way to get rid of these symptoms is to go to rehab (rehab?! I'm no junkie! I have a career a family a home and bills to pay!), OR get more painkillers of some sort... Of any sort. Before you know it they're either Doctor shopping going to different doctors faking injuries or they're going to the black market and getting the shit there and it's just continuing the addiction and it's getting worse and worse and worse until they actually have to go to fuck and Rehab. And anybody whos actually been to rehab no is there anybody there for heroin never started with Heroin they always always always started with prescription drugs. And that's not even including the guys they're not there for heroin, just regular guys with careers families and homes who are in rehab awaiting sentencing for jail or prison time because they got caught with painkillers that were prescribed to them

I know heroin addicts who've been using for 20+ years who somehow still have veins. no way I would've went 20years. not that I would've died, but I'd be broke. guys using 20+ yrs weren't using 1/3 what I was using and they'd still nod-out whereas i'd NEVER nod out, even at 6g a day (believe me, i'd be MUCH happier if I could've gotten by with 2g a day like everybody else in rehab. would've saved me about $60k).
I also know meth addicts (a client of mine in particular... is that proper grammar? I never really checked..anyway) who've been using meth for 20+ years. I didn't even know meth, well crystal meth, was around 20+yrs ago.. maybe I forget how old i'm getting, anyways.. i'm not a stimulant person so I cant relate, but I also know meth addicts who would NO WAY have lasted 20yrs, not even 3yrs before they had to quit (rehab or jail or just quit... it'f fucking meth for fucks sake, there's no physical withdrawal. suck it up buttercup. worst case scenario go to a psych and get a script for Adderall every month like one of my ex's did for the rest of your life). but meth really fucks with most peoples brain chemistry, much moreso than opiates (I actually don't know any opiate addicts who've experienced any brain chem issues. usually once acute withdrawal is done, they're back to normal. just a lil 'bored', of course there's always PAWS as well, but still)
and coke? they're not usually as spun-out as meth addicts, possibly because coke is a dopamine reuptake inhibitor (Just like Welbutrin folks! in case you wanna try it. lol) whereas meth just floods the brain with dopamine... whatever
point is..
oh wait, alcohol! one thing I hate about AA is the old timers talking about their "20yr drinking career's " and shit... the way I drink, there's no way i'd make 20yrs. how long can a body tolerate 2L vodka a day before pancreas and liver go to shit... then you have Encephalopathy (wet-brain or whatever the slang is ).
so, point is, some ppls body chemistry just tolerates certain things better than others. like my alcoholic meth addict client (who's currently on the run from the... nevermind in case the alphabets are reading lol.. that may be a story for youtube. fuck it i'm not involved). her mind was shit, but she wasn't spun out. just dumb. and physically she was sorta ok. her heart was probably shit, but who knows. one thing's for sure, her tolerance was enormous.. me personally, only reason I stopped is because I got tired of spending $6k a month on heroin. I mean for fuck sake I was already using 6g/day, where do I go from there? 8g? 10g? ever heard of anybody using 10g a day? much less 6g? in the hospital I was being given 400+mg oxycodone/day plus 24mg diluadid/day and I got more work done in that hospital bed in a month on that shit than I did in the 6 months previous with just my phone, paper and a pen. like the meth lady, my body/brain chemistry just tolerates the shit well.(mind you the only time I ever "felt" anything on those doses, was for about 3mins after a 2mg diluadid shot. never once felt "high" or even drowsy)
but with most of that shit, when does it end or how much is enough? there's always gonna be diminishing returns and the juice is't gonna be worth the squeeze/

Over a million children under the age of six are currently on psychiatric drugs in America
Mental health watchdog group Citizens Commission on Human Rights is drawing attention to the concerning fact that more than a million kids younger than six in our nation are currently taking psychiatric drugs.
While around half of these children are four to five years old, an incredible 274,804 of them are younger than a year old. That’s right: babies are being given psychiatric drugs. The number rises for toddlers aged two to three, with 370,778 kids in this category taking psychiatric drugs overall.
Data from IMS Health shows that the situation only gets worse as kids get older, with 4,130,340 kids aged 6 to 12 taking some type of psychiatric drug.

I imagine lots of them are old fart boomers and it's a perfectly legitimate prescription.
I don't think it is just baby boomers causing this statistic.
One in four young adults between the ages of 18 and 24 have a diagnosable mental illness. More than 25 percent of college students have been diagnosed or treated by a professional for a mental health condition within the past year.
http://www.csc.edu/bit/resources/statistics/
A Rising Epidemic on College Campuses: Prescription Drug Abuse
Prescription drug abuse is the nation’s fastest growing drug problem. More people in the US died last year of drug overdoses than died in car accidents, making prescription drug abuse the third leading cause of accidental death. In the last 20 years, the consumption of prescription stimulants increased from 5 million to 45 million. In the US, one person dies every 19 minutes from a drug overdose, and overdoses involving prescription painkillers now kill more Americans than those involving heroin and cocaine combined.
This epidemic has been particularly widespread on college campuses. Between 1993 and 2005, the proportion of college students using prescription drugs went up dramatically: use of opioids such as Vicodin, Oxycontin, and Percocet increased by 343 percent, and use of stimulants like Ritalin or Adderall increased by 93 percent.

That indoctrinator/teacher should be fired and have their credentials revoked. Don't push mental illness and child abuse on someones kid and then threaten that parent when they won't go along with the madness.
The Progressive Left is fully Marxist and they want your children.

Clearly America is a mentally ill nation.
It is terrifying to think how much influence they have on the world through their mass media.

So which is it? An earthly paradise with freedom for all? Or a covert dictatorship where unelected tyrants rule? You cannot have it both ways.
-
Oh you mean the Je... hova witnesses?
I'm not singling out one group but you easily could. The majority of people in the USA do not believe what the news says, even when it's drilled into their heads daily by TV, Yahoo, FB, etc. Give some credit for that.
-

Depends on where you live. If you live in LA, Chicago or New York I'm sure it is quite a bit more oppressive than homesteading in the Midwest. You can control your level of interaction for now.

On a growing body, antidepressants and psychiatric drugs could possibly alter the development of the brain?
Unless a kid has witnessed horrific trauma and really needs something to help them cope in the short term, but otherwise it seems there would be way too many long term risks and setting a need/pattern for a life of psychiatric drugs.
