Another nail in the NFL coffin.
-
Tell them POTUS!
-
When I voted for Trump I had no idea he would be this awesome!
-
Trump should purchase ALL NFL-teams and weed out the kneelers.

Personally, I think it might be a wake up call. But, he'll get called a racist for whatever reason

Trump Has Another Win!!...How Awesome!!... ;D

To be honest, he's from NY and can handle it. I think he revels in it. He has a lot of flaws but his takes cut down the chatter.

What does that video have to do with POTUS?
-
Saw him say that this morning on the news,it was great and he is 100% correct.
-
I like Trump more every day.
-
Trump is the man.
He's the best thing that could have happened to this country after eight years of that idiot, Obama.
-
Here's hoping that more negativity publicity will keep driving the NFL underground and eventually, into total annihilation--although I do not think this will happen during my lifetime.
"But could that be changing? Since the season began two weeks ago, the internet has been teeming with articles with headlines such as “How football stopped being fun,” “Inexperienced quarterbacks, porous lines are crippling scoring and crushing the NFL’s watchability,” “The NFL’s crisis on offense,” “The Football Industrial Complex is in big trouble” and “The NFL is being devoured by its own economic model.”
-
Personally, I think it might be a wake up call. But, he'll get called a racist for whatever reason
I hope so. This shit needs to come to a head. How long do we have to hear about racism and hate from the most violent, criminal demographic on the face of the earth?
I see this shit every day with blacks, one more miserable and pissed off than the next, and it shows in the statistics:
7 killed over long Labor Day weekend in Baltimore - Baltimore Sun

Meanwhile, we have to get lectures from ghetto trash telling us how to act.

NFL = the Mandingo fights of the modern age.
-

dont bring your personal beliefs to your job..... everyone knows this for all jobs in america. outside of work on your own free time...fine....not on company time. spoiled, entitled brats
-
He may be crazy, but he's got balls. Makes pussy libtards melt/cry.
Why be a liar/pussy and tip toe around things like that phony Barry O.
Makes a lot of Right-tards melt too. Says what he thinks at least, and pussies cant handle that.

Fire everyone in the NFL but it's equally everyone's fault when it comes to kkk, skinheads and the confederate flag. you go, trump ::)

Typical Libtard deflection. How many of the 500 were killed by white anything much less an insignificant group of supremacists?
But hey, let's just keep pretending.

Trump needs to stop calling out the NBA or NFL. The more he talks about it, the more publicity (good or bad) the NFL or NBA gets. Just let both crappy leagues die out.

not my opinion... his voter base are the ones paying money to watch and support these teams.

Rather hypocritical of them. They love America, but support a league who supports, or at the very least, does not sanction Anti-American players.
But, hey, who cares because they have their Sunday Football!!!

NFL is a American tradition... so most pro Trump people are pro America.. and these anti-american outbursts by these few players are impacting the NFL ratings

Who cares about tradition. Everything should be measures within its own current sociohistorical context.
So, they are Pro-America, but support an organization that is tolerant of Anti-America sentiments. Again, hypocrites. If they were truly Pro-America, they would take a hard stance against an organization that is tolerant of Anti-American sentiments. So far, many have. Lets hope the decline continues!

this has became recent events..... not always has it been this way with the NFL... these few PAID athletes are having their little spouts and its catching up to them... yes America is about free speach..... not on company time.
-
Brilliant move by Trump, speaking up for the many who feel frustrated by the spoiled millionaire athletes. He's cemented a 2nd term easily.
-

And, how will these Pro-Americans respond if the NFL continues to turn a "blind eye" to Anti-American sentiments? What if it gets worse? When will they eventually put their footdown and boycott the organization? Never. Why? Because people are comfortable. They have their sunday football, their beer, and their pretzels. They don't want to disturb their comforting Sunday football. Sad. ::) ::)

football backs i.e. running backs/defensive backs are the greatest all around atheletes in sports BAR NONE
my sports are boxing and basketball and we got real good athletic abilitty but the football backs TRUMP ALL
-
>be American black
>have the highest standards of living of any black person in the planet
>whites create countless programs that put you and your kind over them (affirmative action, diversity hires, diversity visas etc)
>68% of interracial murders have black perpetrators and white victims
>90% of blacks getting murdered are killed by other blacks
>even though there's mass incarceration rates amongst your kind this is because your people commit several times more crimes than any other ethnic group combined.
>the media and corporations cater to you massively, if they do anything considered remotely offensive by one of your people they can get massive lawsuits, they just listen yo your every need
>the presence of your kind in the country is a literal tax drain, but whitey doesn't cares and still pays for your existence
>somehow after all that still complain to whitey because you want more
I hope apeball players keep protesting more and more and keep trying to peddle their petty politics in a sport where most of the fanbase is white working class males.
I'm sure it'll turn out well for them.

Very common at high school level to see the star running back also be star of track team and basketball team if he wants to be.

I used to play and watch variety of sports back in the day. However, my all time favorite sport is Hockey.
When you compare the NHL to theNFL, NBA, and even MLB, how often do hockey players get into trouble? Rarely ever. Hockey players are definitely class acts. Although I do not watch sports any more, I will always have a place for hockey in my heart! On occasion, I still do watch the New York Rangers. But, yeah, if you're going to support a sport, at least support the NHL. :D :D :D

But besides that, haven't you noticed that NHL players get in the least amount of trouble out of all the major sports. Its been like this for a good number of years. Hockey players just do their thing--they don't cause trouble or any of that shit.

I have given my life to try to alleviate the sufferings of Africa. There is something that all white men who have lived here like I must learn and know: that these individuals are a sub-race. They have neither the intellectual, mental, or emotional abilities to equate or to share equally with white men in any function of our civilization. I have given my life to try to bring them the advantages which our civilization must offer, but I have become well aware that we must retain this status: the superior and they the inferior. For whenever a white man seeks to live among them as their equals they will either destroy him or devour him. And they will destroy all of his work. Let white men from anywhere in the world, who would come to Africa, remember that you must continually retain this status; you the master and they the inferior like children that you would help or teach. Never fraternize with them as equals. Never accept them as your social equals or they will devour you. They will destroy you.
This has usually been presented as something "said shortly before his death" without any definite source, but appears to be entirely spurious. The "FAQ about the life and thoughts of Albert Schweitzer" asserts "This quote is utterly false and is an outrageously inaccurate picture of Dr. Schweitzer’s view of Africans. Dr. Schweitzer never said or wrote anything remotely like this. It does NOT appear in the book African Notebook." This refers to some citations of it being from Afrikanische Geschichten (1938), which was translated as From My African Notebook (1939) by Mrs. C. E. B Russell

I couldn't even make it through to half time in the '60s and sports were a rarity on the tube back then. Boring. Baseball is too but it's well suited to radio and still I can hardly watch the stuff. The NBA used to be good but that was 40+ years ago. Now it sucks.

C. E. B Russell
You maybe correct. From what I read it was removed from later editions but that info came from only one source.
Here is a quote that multiple sources agree on.
"When long-resident natives of the district expressed discontent at being ruled by white men, I answer that they without white men would no longer be in existance".

I can watch it live or on television.
But besides that, haven't you noticed that NHL players get in the least amount of trouble out of all the major sports. Its been like this for a good number of years. Hockey players just do their thing--they don't cause trouble or any of that shit.
That's cuz they white.

Joon everything about you is boring

I couldn't even make it through to half time in the '60s and sports were a rarity on the tube back then. Boring. Baseball is too but it's well suited to radio and still I can hardly watch the stuff. The NBA used to be good but that was 40+ years ago. Now it sucks.
Buncha thugs.
Each team runs about 65 plays but most of the time is spent in the huddle and then coming to the line. The actual play only lasts about five seconds. So you have a grand total of about 10 to 15 minutes of action spread out over 3 1/2 hours.

The reason liberals act like Trump is kissing the asses of neo-Nazis and white supremacists is merely a matter of projection. Libs just can't get black cock out their mouths, and have a complete cognitive dissonance about the fact that black inner cities are in a state of collapse.

So has every single American city that is predominantly black. Of course, it's racist to not make believe that this isn't the case.

The Oakland Athletics tweeted a statement in support of players who kneel during the national anthem moments after a player on the team became the first major league baseball player to do so.
"The Oakland A's pride ourselves on being inclusive. We respect and support all of our players' constitutional rights and freedom of expression," the team tweeted Saturday.

LeBron James called trump a bum. Hahaha.

The funny thing, is that Stephen Curry already said he wasn't going to the White House. Then, Trump, feeling hurt, said, "Well, you're disinvited anyway." But Curry already said he wasn't going. That's like the 4th grader who throws a party, no one shows up, then says, "Well, I didn't want any of you there anyway." :D :D
-
Sounds more like a lot of butt hurt Hollywood types and professional athletes who can't handle not having their asses kissed to the same extent anymore.
Shit happens fast in the Internet era. How many people still have a BlackBerry?

it isn't the same thing at all.
It would have been the same if he didn't turn up at the Whitehouse and Trump said "I didn't want him here anyway"

Baseball has even caught on--though, not too sure if this is new for MLB players.
I wonder if the NHL will catch on. I highly doubt it.

They have freedom of expression...but what exactly are they protesting?
They might not like Trump and his policies, but he won a democratic election, and thankfully for the USA they are not a one-party dominant state, so there's a realistic chance of change in the next elections.
-
The NFL has joined Hollywood now and is nothing more than an entertainment platform for political activism and social justice warrior bullshit. So meaningless.

They really aren't protesting Trumps presidential win.
This really all started with protesting against officers killing black people. From there, it just gained momentum. At this point, it seems like it exploded down many different avenues.

Yes it was about playing make-believe that these areas could be controlled by any other means other than very aggressive policing. We found that to be bullshit.

So far this year, the number of so-called investigative stop reports — formerly known as “contact cards” — has decreased by about 80 percent compared to the same time period last year, police sources told DNAinfo Chicago.

I think its important, though it is just my suggestion, that people stop using the word "Social Justice" in a negative light. Social Justice/Activism has been around for a long time, even before the word became tainted by Progressives! Social Justice/Activism takes many forms and not ALL people engage in Social Activism in this manner.

Hey wait a minute, weren't people complaining about Obama publicly interjecting his thoughts on various social justice issues-like with Trayvon Martin? And now, we have Trump publicly interjecting his thoughts on the kneeling of NFL players which stems from a Social Justice and First Admendment issue? Yet right leaning folks are ok with this?

Obama didn't have all the facts and was sucking up to the family of a delinquent (suspended from school for the nth time for FIGHTING and got killed doing the same crap). Trump is the president and is standing up for this flag that symbolizes this country.
Defending our country and its flag vs. defending a dope-smoking thug. NO contest there.

Yes, I do.

Physical abuse is wrong.
Etc, etc, etc, etc.
There you go.

To me, both presidents shouldn't be commenting, but they are/were exercising their first Admendment right, and consequences and repercussions will arise and still are arising because of that. Just like with Colin.

I guess the social justice warriors missed last season's games, showing that Kapernick was just 1-7 as a starter, throwing picks left and right last season. He lost the job in camp; the other guy stunk up the joint. Kapernick got another chance and was utter garbage.
And, if I'm not mistaken, he walked out on the 49ers after they tried to renegotiate his contract.

Whenever there is an adjective added to an important value based noun there's an agenda. There is democracy, not peoples democracy. Whenever you had a people's democracy you know you didn't have democracy. Out of curiosity, what is the difference between social justice and justice? There is justice or there is injustice, there isn't justice and social justice. Social justice means left wing equality, that's what it means. It is a substitute for the term equality. So there is no social justice if there are rich and poor. Rich and poor is definitionally social injustice. It's not injustice, liberals don't even know why you use the term. Justice has no problem with there being rich and poor, social justice has a problem with there being rich and poor. If the rich got rich justly there is no problem with it. Do not favor the poor in judgment, favoring the poor is social justice. It's injustice to favor the poor. Social justice has nothing to do with justice, nothing. It distorts it in the name of the egalitarian ideal that motivates the left.
-
Its pretty simple. You either agree with what the NFL is doing or you dont. If you agree then watch the games. If you dont agree, dont watch them.
-
But you're ok with protests of false narratives derived from the Obama administration for 7 years in order to do this and divide the country even more?
But, that is not what you said. You made a general statement that I did not know the difference from right and wrong. I clearly pointed out many instances where it was wrong to do something. Thus, I clearly know the difference between right and wrong--your initial premise was that I did not know the difference between right and wrong. A more appropriate statement would have been that "I do not know the difference between right and wrong when it comes to political issues." So, do I know the difference between right or wrong? ??? ??? ???
I am not big on saying whether police corruption concerning minorities is either a "False" or "True" narrative--I rarely, if ever, categorize social issues into binary categories. I believe most issues, including social issues, fall along a continuum. With that said, there have been independent investigations that have proved racial biases among police departments (not ALL police departments). On the other hand, there are many police departments that do a wonderful job. I'd be more apt to discuss racial biases and police brutality along a continuum, instead of discussing whether it is 100% false or 100% true--it is ignorant to reduce the complexity of human behavior to binary classifications.
I never stated whether I supported or disagreed with their protesting. You assumed that I did not know the difference between right and wrong because I said to you, "That is your opinion." That in no way infers whether or not I agree or disagree with your statement or sport players protesting. You assumed, as you always do.

I don't care what word you use, Social Justice or Justice. My point was that social justice or justice takes MANY forms, beyond racial justice. Thus, my main point, is that when one hears the word "Justice" or "Social Justice" people automatically assume you're talking about equality in terms of race and/or economics. Nothing in my statement indicated so. Again, my point was that when people hear the words "Social Justice" or "Justice" they automatically view it in a negative light and assume one is talking about equality in terms of race; justice, social justice, or whatever other word you want to use, can take on many forms. Unfortunately, given today's agenda, those words, either together or separate, have taken on a negative connotation--I blame the Progressives for that.
I was/am actively engaged in many forms of "Social Justice" or "Justice." (I don't care what word you use). When people hear this, they automatically assume one thing: that I am advocating or trying to fix racial inequality (the narrative put forth by Progressives). The word Justice/Social Justice has automatically been linked to racial inequality, which is really a narrow meaning of the word.

There are racial biases for a reason. Do you see arabs, asians, indians etc. crying about being profiled for the color of their skin? They're a minority are they not? Blacks are racially profiled because they commit the most crime. More unarmed whites are killed by cops then blacks not to mention they chimp out even if they were armed. This last shooting I believe in St. Louis for example. A fucking herion dealer in possesion of a gun.

I think that a lot of middle class people view the NFL athletes as millionaires that only care about themselves.
I'm not saying that NFL athletes are that way; but I hear regular middle-class people saying things along those lines.
Trump is echoing that belief via twitter.

If the NFL was smart they would do what the NBA did a long time ago, and make all forms of political expression on league time a violation of the player code of conduct and punishable. The NBA has been dealing with nogs a lot longer so they know whats up. They actually do a much better job of turning dindus into semi-respectable members of society than any other league.
If the NFL continues to pander to marxists like this its unlikely they will die as a league, however it will knock them down several pegs and wake up alot more people to whats going on.
Addiction to sportsball is one of the top three worst things in the West.
Anything a president can do to ween the masses off of goofball television is purely positive.
Getting millions to recognize television, sport, and entertainment as the disgusting things they are, filled with disgusting people who aren't worth your attention.

Social Justice/Justice takes many forms. They are incorrect for automatically assuming its only about racial and economic inequality. Perhaps that is what it was initially intended for, however, it entails many different things, especially in today's world.

Okay, fine, we can use the word "Justice." I really don't care what words you use.
So, we can say that Justice takes on many forms, other than racial and/or economic inequality.
And that those who advocate for Justice, can do so on different levels, and automatically assuming the word "Justice" equates to racial and/or economic equality, is erroneous.

We will not stand for the injustice that has plagued people of color in this country.Out of love for our country and in honor of the sacrifices made on our behalf,we unite to oppose those that would deny our most basic freedoms. We remain committed in continuing to work towards equality and justice for all.“

Ive been asking this question on getbig for a long time and have not received a justified response. Shizzo said its because some sport players have been part of the military. I have worked with some people who have been part of the military and they don't stand for the anthem before they enter work. I will often hear people say, "Well, they are paying respect to the flag because freedom allows them to play football." But, freedom also allows me to go to work every day.
And, as you said, they didn't stand for the anthem before the volleyball tournament. So, why certain sports?
The real reason the NFL cares about the national anthem is for public relations matter. Good PR = more people watch = more money. That is what they care about. The NFL doesn't give a damn about our military--like most organizations, every move the NFL makes is to increase revenue. And, that is fine, but its rather tiresome when the NFL tries to pretend that they actually care about the military. ::) ::)

Personally, I don't give a fuck if they play the national anthem before stupid football games or any other game. The issue is a bunch of pampered athletes bitching and moaning about injustices that don't even fucking exist. Where exactly are the basic personal freedoms being denied? They can't point to a single example of institutional racism that currently exists in this country.
The real issue is the failure of black culture in this country, both socially and economically.
Here's another newsflash. If they stopped playing the national anthem tomorrow they'll find something else to bitch about.

It's obvious the NFL doesn't give a shit. They have to cater to their players which make up 70% of the league.

Why are national anthems sang before a sporting event?
Rap Music would be more appropriate for the NFL anyways.
I find it amusing that so many fat white people glue themselves to their TV sets in order to watch black criminals chase each other around for millions of dollars to zero benefit for themselves.
The whole thing is a farce.

Americans should boycott those teams, without the fans watching and buying merchandise and tickets and empty stadiums those players and their teams are nothing.

It's tradition when it comes to football and baseball. I'm not a sports fan at least with anything involving a ball nor am I a historian so I'm the wrong person to ask.

You were right all along.
I usually am. I have more Plutonium than Emmett Brown.

It appears they are, in some cases. Look at Godell and the rest of the media nuts, slobbering over Los Angeles. They were obsessed with getting L.A. a team. Now they have two and few care about either one of them. The Chargers play in a small soccer stadium and they can't even fill that out. The sad part in today's game is that almost half the fans there are CHIEFS fans.

At this point with most of these fools disrespecting the country by kneeling or worse staying in the locker room for the anthem I would say that Alejandro Villanueva is the one who is taking a stand against injustice. the injustice of these spoiled SJW athletes. I'm curious as to why when they hit a payday the first thing they do is move out of the hood. why not stay and be the change you want to see? they Dindu that though

This speaks for itself.
-
" I'm curious as to why when they hit a payday the first thing they do is move out of the hood. why not stay and be the change you want to see?" they Dindu that though
I work with quite a few kids from the inner city, get quite a few when they play their last college games then come to me for Combine prep. You do have some that are very smart that come from oppression like Richard Sherman that's a Stanford grad and MANY others. For most they have a couple of choices, football or stay in hood, deal drugs, get arrested and the chances of them getting killed is high. Football is their way out. But just because they don't live there doesn't mean they don't give back to their communities. They absolutely do.
Now, on the other side of that. I have 7 players in the NFL, all linemen all Samoan. 4 of them still live on American Samoa. Last off season I took them to the high school where I coach. We have a nice big weightroom, 10 racks and platforms plus all of the amenities, a brand new turf field, etc. Honest to God one player started sobbing wishing they could have on Samoa what we have here. With them, it's God, Family and football on that order. Not only do they give back but most live on the island. Next year one of ofbthe players agents and him invited me to back with them for about week for clinics. If you don't know already, Samoans are incredible athletes but most of their fields are dirt and weeds. Incidentally, they all send more than half back to their families on the island.
-
Why don't they refuse to cash their paychecks until social change they want is made?
There are hundreds of ways they could protest and use their status to make positive changes but they choose to take the easy way out and shit on the flag and all it stands for. Pussies.
Props to the real men on the teams who show respect to the flag, especially when they are the only one.

They have the right to protest, owners have the right to protect their investments. Anyone with any business sense whatsoever can figure this out. How about leveling a $100k fine per occurrence to each player that decides to draw attention to their team, causing ticket and viewership to drop. Problem fucking solved."

Couple of points:
- Why have the national anthem before every game? What's the point?
- Who cares if someone refuses to stand for the anthem. Just let him express his freedom to do so and move on. He'd just feel foolish if nobody paid any attention to it.
- Why watch a sport in which almost 3 quarters of the players are black and be surprised that those players will show support towards black grievances?
- Trump shouldn't get involved with this crap.

1. Tradition. Not a particularly good answer, but that's the answer.
2. I agree. Had the media not made a big deal out of it nobody would've even noticed.
3. There is absolutely no reason for white people to support the sport, anymore. These black grievances are bullshit and are merely cover for the abysmal failure of blacks as a group in civilized society.
4. Trump has a right to "express" himself just like these "oppressed" players. It's about time somebody stood up to these assholes and called them out on their bullshit. Who needs to be lectured by the demographic which has the greatest criminality rate on the face of the earth?
https://www.google.com/amp/s/nolacrimenews.com/2017/01/04/the-demographics-of-murder-in-new-orleans-2016/amp/
"The data on murder demographics came from NOPD’s homicide spreadsheet. There are three black men whose age/identity have not been publicly released. I assigned ages in their 20s for 2 of them and 30s for 1 to reflect a relatively normal distribution. I will update these figures as needed once identities are confirmed. Population data came from the Census 2015 estimates by race and gender.
Once again the murder rate for a black man in New Orleans is substantially higher than any other demographic group. The national murder rate in 2016 was roughly 5.3 per 100,000 meaning a black man in his 20s in New Orleans had a murder rate 60 times the national average."

Funny you mentioned you why whites should watch black players. Some of the biggest most racist parts of this country are also some of the biggest NFL fans. I never understood why they hate blacks so much but love cheering for them and watching them play football. It doesn't really make any sense. If I disliked blacks, the last I'd want to do is watch a sport in which they make up the majority of the players and cheer them on.
In Europe, there are some racist soccer fans (mostly Eastern Europeans) that don't want their teams signing black players. Here's also a video of an Israeli team who's fans became aggressive when their team signed some Muslim players. It's ugly, but at least they are being consistent with their beliefs. Anything else would be hypocritical.

The NFL rule book specifically requires both teams appear on the field for the playing of the anthem, standing, remaining quiet, and holding their helmets in their left hands. Failure to do so can result in fines, suspensions, and the loss of draft picks. The rules are found on pages A62-63 of the league’s game operations manual:
The National Anthem must be played prior to every NFL game, and all players must be on the sideline for the National Anthem.
During the National Anthem, players on the field and bench area should stand at attention, face the flag, hold helmets in their left hand, and refrain from talking. The home team should ensure that the American flag is in good condition. It should be pointed out to players and coaches that we continue to be judged by the public in this area of respect for the flag and our country. Failure to be on the field by the start of the National Anthem may result in discipline, such as fines, suspensions, and/or the forfeiture of draft choice(s) for violations of the above, including first offenses.

The "fine print" states that they are required (MUST BE) to be on the sideline before beginsthe national anthem, otherwise they are fined. Fine.
However, NOWHERE does it state that they are required to stand at attention, face the flag, hold helmets in their left hand, and refrain from talking. It says that players "SHOULD" do these things. Using the word "should" may indicate an obligation (definition 1) or may indicate an expectation (definition 2). Are they "OBLIGATED" or "EXPECTED" to do these things (stand at attention, face the flag, hold helmets in their left hand, and refrain from talking)? The NFL needs to clarify.
The definition of "Should":
1) Used to indicate obligation, duty, or correctness.
2) Indicating a desirable or expected state.
-
But, that is not what you said.
You're joking right? We're not talking about anything else BUT the title of this thread and the story behind it so it's implied.

thats a hoax Ron
In fact, the rulebook doesn’t mention the national anthem at all. The only section possibly relating to this situation is in regards to “Personal Messages” found on page 23, article 8.
The rule about personal messages states:
“Throughout the period on game-day that a player is visible to the stadium and television audience (including in pregame warm-ups, in the bench area, and during postgame interviews in the locker room or on the field), players are prohibited from wearing, displaying, or otherwise conveying personal messages either in writing or illustration, unless such message has been approved in advance by the League office. Items to celebrate anniversaries or memorable events, or to honor or commemorate individuals, such as helmet decals, and arm bands and jersey patches on players’ uniforms, are prohibited unless approved in advance by the League office. All such items approved by the League office, if any, must relate to team or League events or personages. The League will not grant permission for any club or player to wear, display, or otherwise convey messages, through helmet decals, arm bands, jersey patches, or other items affixed to game uniforms or equipment, which relate to political activities or causes, other non-football events, causes or campaigns, or charitable causes or campaigns. Further, any such approved items must be modest in size, tasteful, non-commercial, and noncontroversial; must not be worn for more than one football season; and if approved for use by a specific team, must not be worn by players on other teams in the League.”

That is correct, but the crowed booed them.

Yes, because Obama, Holder Trevon Martin "If I had a son he'd look just like me" the Hands up don't shoot" Micheal Brown lie, Baltimore and every other cop shooting that Obama use to incite more violence from BLM....had nothing to do with this..morons
Barry O basically took race relations back to where they were once worse, so congrats Barry, you and "Michael" your 1st Tranny.

I've mentioned this earlier in the thread. It doesn't make sense why anyone who dislikes blacks would care much for sports which are over 70% black. Also, it shouldn't come to any surprise why those black athletes would eventually show an interest towards ethnocentric causes.
This is why when Kaepernick refused to stand, everyone should have just ignored him and continued like normal. Instead, you had simpletons like Coach who turned it into a major issue and by doing so, has escalated the problem and expanded the "protest".

All those who take a knee should take a bullet.
not the knee grow

Maybe non-blacks should consider taking a knee to protest the fact that representatives from a group representing only 12% of the population commits 52% of the murders in the country and 92% of the murders when the victim is black.
Or how blacks are 7 to 10 times more prone than whites to engage in criminal activity.
Let's be real, the only justice many blacks look for is justice that they agree with.
Some still believe that Michael Brown was shot without cause, but they stood in the streets and gleefully cheered when O.J. Simpson was found not guilty.
Sadly, with all the criminal activity perpetrated by players in the NFL, the NFL has become sports imitating life.

That's a little judgemental don't ya think? Since I'm one of those that voted for Trump because of wanting more people to work so we don't have people forced on the government dole like Obama was trying to do, fuck yes I care. Apparently you don't understand the jobs created because of the NFL as well as MLB, NBA and just pro sports in general. There aren't just Owners, athletes and coaches involved here. Your thinking is limited and selfish.

Yes, I am sure you really care when the random janitor loses his job. ::) ::) ::) Who you kidding?
You have a hard-on for the NFL, that is the only reason you dont want to see them or anyone affiliated with them lose their jobs. Other than that, you do not care about the average dishwasher or janitor who loses their job-I have NEVER seen you go this hard for such a cause. Yes, I realize its not just owners, coaches, or athletes, but everyone involved in the production of sports--camera people, editors, etc, as well as people that own clothing lines, trophy stores, food stores (who sells chips and beer to sport fans), etc, etc, etc, etc Yes, yes, I get it. Happy? However, humans adapt, we always have. Getting rid of sports will not break humanity. Yes, we will have to adapt, and it may take some time, but we will go on without sports.

They can thank the NFL, MSM and all the race pimps for that. Let's not forget the incident that took place in Las Vegas involving Michael Bennet and the LVPD
Seahawks defensive end Michael Bennett got a strong statement of support from NFL commissioner Roger Goodell on Wednesday.
The statement came after Bennett shared the details of a harrowing incident that allegedly occurred while he was in Las Vegas for the Floyd Mayweather-Conor McGregor fight on Aug. 26.
As he was heading home after the fight, Bennett said that he heard gunshots being fired. After police arrived on the scene, Bennett says that they "singled" him out and pointed their guns at him for one reason: Because he was a black man who was in the "wrong place place at the wrong time."
Bennett added that the officers used excessive force while he was in custody, and that one cop even threatened to "blow his head off."
After hearing the story, Goodell said made it clear that the league supports Bennett.
"Michael Bennett represents the best of the NFL -- a leader on his team and in his community," Goodell said. "Our foremost concern is the welfare of Michael and his family. While we understand the Las Vegas police department will address this later this evening, the issues Michael has been raising deserve serious attention from all of our leaders in every community. We will support Michael and all NFL players in promoting mutual respect between law enforcement and the communities they loyally serve and fair and equal treatment under the law."
Bennett also received a statement of support from Seahawks coach Pete Carroll.
"What happened with Michael is a classic illustration of the reality of inequalities that are demonstrated daily," Carroll said. "May this incident inspire all of us to respond with compassion when inequalities are brought to light and allow us to have the courage to stand for change. We can do better than this."
Kevin McMahill, the Undersheriff of the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department, gave the LVMPD's version of events during the department's press conference, and says that he didn't believe there was any racial profiling involved in the Bennett incident.
"I can tell you as I stand here today, I see no evidence of that," McMahill said. "I see no evidence that race played any role in this incident."
According to McMahill, police received a call around 1:30 a.m. on Sunday about a possible active shooter who was believed to be somewhere around Drai's nightclub at the Cromwell casino.
When officers arrived at the hotel, it was total chaos as hundreds of people were attempting to flee the supposed shooter.
Footage inside the casino where you here officers yelling comans at 3:18 the yell "There's one running." at 3:25.
i
Footage being arrested. I dindu nuttin man!
"Mr. Bennett, at the scene, had the incident explained to him by a supervisor and he said that he understood and that he had no problem with what the officers did," McMahill said.
However, McMahill did go on to say that Bennett did actually mention having an issue with one of the cops.
"He claimed the officer pointed a gun at his head," McMahill said.
McMahill didn't deny Bennett's claim that an officer said he wanted to blow the NFL player's "head off."
"That's part of what we have to investigate," McMahill said.
McMahill showed a five-minute video that was taken by a police body camera on the night of the incident, and the end of the video appears to show an officer holding something up to Bennett's head.
Was the cop wrong for pointing a gun to his head? No. He just ran from the scene where there was a report of gunfire so of course the officer would react that way with someone who they believe could be armed. The fact that he's a football player doesn't change anything.
ABC interview with lying dindu claiming racial profiling.
Fuck the NFL, Goodell and Carell for making statements before getting the facts and catering to their players black bullshit.

But this isn't the NFL as a whole. This is leftist Roger Goodell and his $40mil a year paycheck. No player I know that had to deal him, likes him. Along with the MSM, he's fuckkng the league over. As far as Bennett. He's fucking liar because (and the knows this but won't address it) after the cops told EVERYONE to not leave, he was hiding behind an gaming table and when the cop made eye contact he ran, that cop had no idea of that was Bennett or the shooter.

I did 10 years.. and I respect the opinion on subjects related to patriotism from those who served even if it contradicts mine. They earned that right by putting their life on the line. when I hear opinions about country and respect from people who never served, it is more an annoyance like a mosquito around the ear than anything else. They should tread lightly, but they typically don't. They are usually the loudest, even though that right to speak was paid for by those who did serve

This being said. Are you on the side of them kneeling or standing. The kneeling part comes from the left screaming racial equality. IMO, this is BS. They do it during the anthem. Villanueva stood for the flag because he served. I respect your service 100000% but because you served shouldn't dismiss my views.

As a cop from a major city.. and being privy to statistics and news media I feel the cops and the courts have dropped the ball in some cases. Enough to bolster their claim of inequality. I don't agree with the percentage, but I acknowledge there is room for improvement. I fought for my county, but I also believe strongly in the constitution and 1st amendment rights. It's not contingent on whether I agree with their views or not. I'd much rather they peacefully protest than riot in the streets. Now the player that was making a show of stretching during the anthem, pure disrespect. Those quietly taking a knee? I think our country is strong enough to withstand a little kneeling during the anthem. I've protected the KKK while they spewed horrific rhetoric. I've protected Black Lives Matter while they insulted me and my co-workers. I look at the big picture. What makes America great in my opinion, is the ability to voice an unpopular view
-
You want to talk about dishonoring a country, look no farther than someone who avoided military service using a bone spur as a reason yet could play baseball, telling a Vietnam prisoner of war he's a loser because he got caught, That to me, is the epitome of unpatriotic behavior

““That’s their choice [not to watch],” cornerback Logan Ryan said. “That’s the beauty of this country. Everyone is entitled to their own opinion and everyone’s opinion is equal. So right, wrong or indifferent, that’s the beauty of this country — that everyone should have equal rights and equal opinions on what they want. If they don’t want to watch, that’s their choice. That’s perfect.”
who can argue with that?

up to the boss on that one. Apparently the NFL and owners are ok with it
They won't be after they start seeing their investments take a plunge

Absolutely correct, they are entitled to their own opinion but when it affects employers bottom league wide, I guarantee it will end quick.

Maybe instead of ignoring him, fans should have jumped him and beat him senseless? ???
-
I'm fluent in Coach
Ha ;D
-
Yes, because all of those people that have jobs BECAUSE of the NFL don't need them anymore ::)
Fuck off Coach, the NFL shouldn't put up with this anti American shit. Why are you acting like a Communist POS?
-
The left has even got to Coach, how fucking disappointing.
Never in a million years did I think we would catch him supporting such an anti American business :( :(
-
It's a non Issue, the NFL isn't going away but if ratings keep dropping they will clean house and run the leftist cowards off.

I'm supporting the local businesses that depend on the those stadiums to be filled. The only NFL games I watched were the ones that my guys played in.

It's a unionized league that is 75% black. If the players walk the owners are really going to lose a lot of money. The owners are first and foremost businessmen. They're going to do what's in the best interest of their bank accounts.
Regarding the so-called injustices, The African-American community got what it wanted in Chicago. Police stops and enforcement decreased dramatically and as a result crime skyrocketed. Personally, I don't give a shit if these guys kneel or not but spare me the bullshit about police injustices when your demographic has the highest criminality rate on the face of the earth.

This is my problem with the issue. If they were protesting institutionalized disparities in treatment towards blacks vs white and were actively addressing the black on black violence then I would think they were concerned about blacks, not just complaining about police not treating them the same in some instances. But when they are silent about cities like Chicago where blacks are being killed by blacks at a truly alarming rate, I just don't think they're all that concerned about black lives

“There is a war going on in Baltimore right now. We are experiencing genocide among our African-American males, both by the hands of the Police Department and from one another. We the people need a call to action in order to save the city and our community for our future generations,” Baltimore Ceasefire said on its Facebook page.
A “genocide… by the hands of the Police Department?” Not for nothing, but I was looking through the list of possible lethal force encounters with police for 2017 and I managed to find one. And that guy was holding a foot-long knife to the throats of a one year old and a four year old when negotiations finally broke down and the cops took him out. By contrast (falling into the category of “from one another” mentioned by the ceasefire group), criminals have murdered more than 210 of you in Charm City

Perhaps. But when blacks are saying police aren't held accountable when they shoot a black unjustifiably, and then we see examples of that in the last few years... it doesn't help

Please. The last "example" was an armed heroin dealer who led police on a high-speed chase. Even the liberal mainstream media didn't cover the protests because they knew that it was a losing proposition.
Why a judge acquitted a St. Louis cop of first-degree murder - NY Daily News
https://www.google.com/amp/www.nydailynews.com/amp/news/crime/judge-acquitted-st-louis-first-degree-murder-article-1.3500493
"A full-sized revolver was too large for the officer to hide in his pants pockets and he was not wearing a jacket, the judge said. If the gun had been tucked into his belt, it would have been visible on a bystander’s video that showed Stockley walking between the police car and Smith’s car, he found.
Wilson also noted none of the officers standing next to the vehicle were called to testify that Stockley planted a gun. And he recounted witness testimony that the absence of a person’s DNA on a gun does not mean that person did not touch the gun."
“Finally, the Court observes, based on its nearly thirty years on the bench, that an urban heroin dealer not in possession of a firearm would be an anomaly,” the judge wrote.

This is liberalism out to destroy football and soon to be sports in general. Think about it. Concussions are real but now there are questions about the validity of some of this research being bias. Then there are the changing of the rules in the NFL about the intensity of the game and if a player hits another the wrong way, it's a fine or an ejection or both. The game is played softer and players are pissed and now there is this total 100% bullshit fabrication much like the "hands up don't shoot" narrative and even though it's already destroying the game (and there are MUCH more people against the kneeling and blatant disrespect ) yet still the players, coaches and the NFL higher ups continue to let this happen. So the question should be , what's REALLY going on?
Liberalism literally destroys everything it gets it's hands on.

Soon, sports will be something of the past.
A LOT of people are posting on social media that they found more worthwhile things to do on a Sunday afternoon (instead of watching Football). These people were offered a great opportunity to experience something different, and are now realizing that they could be engaged in a variety of other activities. Sometimes we just need to experience something different. Naturally, some will gravitate back toward football once the protests stop. However, many may never go back and if they do, it will be to a lesser extent.

On a different note; I can't believe that Eli Manning had a rushing touchdown today.

Btw, No one cares about football anymore, Coach.

Fuck 'em. Black. White. Player. Coach. Whatever. Fuck their noise.
I hope to Buddha that the NFL loses more revenue and people stay away forever. There's more to life than watching a spoiled fucktard run around playing a kid's game for millions and whining about how oppressed they be 'n' sheit.
These buttwipes deserve to be shunned and booed. Buncha OJs in waiting. FTA.

What if some person realized that hiking was more productive than sitting on your ass watching football. He's experiencing nature and becoming more healthier. A way better use of time than sitting in front of the tv, stuffing yourself with nachos, and watching football. Who cares what reason(s) propelled him to make a lifestyle change--the most important thing is that this person is making better use of his time, which will benefit his health and his overall well-being. I am not overly concerned what makes someone change. I am more concerned that they are experiencing more positive behaviors--the reason means little to nothing to me.
-
It’s not an easy time for strength and conditioning coaches as they watch their cash cow go down the toilet.
-
if it is true that NFL fans are actually stopping watching games because players take part in peaceful protests before the game which have no impact on the game, it just shows how sh1tty the sport and or fans must be.
football fans (real football with a round ball) would never stop watching games over nonsense like that. maybe the peeps are just waking up to how sh1tty these sports are.
or probably more likely just loads more people bootlegging the games (same thing happening in europe) as people are sick of paying extortionate prices to the cable companies and the quality of paid bootleg services are now extremely good for a fraction of the price.

From what I've read, it seems that most Americans are siding with Trump on the 'Trump vs NFL' issue.

Essentially all pro sports are in decline. The Internet has Decentralized entertainment to the point where it’s really more about niche markets these days.
A bunch of ghetto rats kneeling for the national anthem is pretty much just greasing the skids in football but the same thing is happening in other games and sports.
Not too many brothers in NASCAR and golf and they’re both going down the drain as well:

In 2009 the nfl started getting paid to have players come out and salute the flag or stand around with their hands on their hearts or whatever. Before then the players would wait for the anthem to play then come out of the locker room to play. Now it's biting their ass to have players not stand for the anthem.

You don't have to be an economics expert to know that society will go on without sports, although it will definitely take some adjustment. You're acting like society will cease to be with the elimination of sports. Will society just blink out of existence without sports? Times will perhaps be tough when it first occurs; but humans will adjust. We always have.
Further, you don't know shit about science and/or research, yet you talk about it. So, I guess I don't have to know shit about economics to talk about it. See how that works.

1) How the fuck do you know what I know or don't know? How do you know I don't have a minor in Economics? If you can indirectly assert that I know nothing of economics (by rolling your eyes), than I can indirectly assert that you know nothing about science/research. You make a blind assertion. I make a blind assertion in return. See how that works?
2) When I talk about not knowing anything about science and research, I am talking about examining the underpinnings of research methodology and/or statistics in order to determine the validity and/or reliability of a study. Sure, you can comprehend the basics of what the article says (X works or Y doesn't work). However, you do not understand the underlying research methodology and/or statistics that drew that conclusion. You don't understand why someone would use a Chi-Square vs. MANOVA vs. Regression Analysis vs. Mann-Whitney U Test vs. T-test vs. Spearman/Pearson Correlation, etc. You wouldn't understand how to interpret an effect size to determine the strength of the relationship between two variables. Hate to break it to you, but the average person can open up a research article and read the conclusion section. Understanding science is more than just understanding what the conclusion of an article says (Bench pressing builds pecs). The fact that you did not mention any of the above terms, leads me to believe you know the VERY basics of science (how to read the conclusion section). Congratulations, you can read the abstract and conclusion of a science paper. However, that is not what I am referring to when discussing a true understanding of science and research. When professionals discuss science, they just do not examine the conclusion section (overview of results); they examine EVERYTHING in the article, including the underlying research methodology/ and or statistical procedures in order to accurately determine how accurate the results are. You can't do that, hence you take the results at face value.

Case in point right here. I'm assuming you have a minor in econ but seem to favor liberal theories of economics that clearly have never worked in the long run. I've mentioned one my athletes that graduated with a degree in Economics from UCLA yet voted for a socialist in Bernie Sanders. Feel free to explain this?

Not going to deny you're mostly right in your assumption but I do take the time to get into the study other than the abstract and conclusions and to determine what I feel is correct or off, but that in no way means certain studies are not bias. Very few studies are conclusive. But when I'm talking about studies, I'm not referring to concussion prevention, I'm referring to PCS (Post Concussion Syndrome) that can be detected years after a players retirement. These are the studies that are the cause of the sudden influx of lawsuits. My conclusion to this is, the studies are much like Global Warming studies where most are left bias studies.

Who wrote that in red?
Anyway, I don't know much about economics; I know how to pay my bills on time, save money and have more than enough money to live a happy life. That's about it in terms of economics. I mean, I know the very basic of economics, just like you know the very basics of science. Just accept it for what it is. Lets not pretend to know any more than we do.
How do you determine what is correct or not, if you do not understand research methodology and/or statistics? ??? ??? For example, how do you determine if the researcher should have used an ANOVA instead of a MANCOVA? You cannot determine if the research methodology is appropriate if you do not understand these terms.
No science paper in any peer-reviewed journal would say their results are conclusive in the strict sense. Show me one instance where a scientist said in a peer-reviewed journals, "My results are conclusive. There is nothing left to study." You will not find this. Science is about PROGRESS and learning MORE.
Of course studies are biased. And studies are BIASED in EVERY field. You know how you determine if a research paper is biased? By understanding the research methodology and/or statistics. This allows you to accept results from studies that have the most sound research methodology and statistics and disregard those research papers with poor methodology and statistics.

NFL's Week 4 sees dozens of NFL players kneel, raise fists during national anthem

And yet here you are, still watching and supporting this shit.
Find something else to lust after.

From what I've read, it seems that most Americans are siding with Trump on the 'Trump vs NFL' issue.
This is one of his easiest wins.
-
Well - it was easy today - did not watch nor care to watch any football game with players disrespecting our anthem. So did a lot of my friends out here who just know that unless they stop buying, watching and giving money to the teams, nothing will happen.
At least with the NBA, they have a rule that expressly tells that the players and coaches have to stand during the anthem - respect. NFL is losing credibilty quickly.

As I’ve said, it’s more than just these guys kneeling. The NFL had become an ordeal to watch. An 8 o’clock game sometimes doesn’t end until midnight. It’s a one hour freaking game. So you’re getting a little bits of a game in between tons of nonsense. They can’t go five minutes without some stupid sideline interview.
It’s really just another example of an old-school media company not being able to adapt well to the new fast paced internet environment.

Doesn't the NFL have it in their rule book that they are supposed to stand to attention during it? THey just refuse to obey

I just downloaded the PDF version of the rule book and there is no such rule.
From website:
The post claims that the rule can be found on page "A62-63 of the NFL rulebook." As our friends down at AL.com have noted, a look at the actual NFL rulebook reveals otherwise. First off, there is no "A62 or 63."
Page 62 pertains to the enforcement of 15 yard penalties, special exceptions for 15-yard penalties and ejections. Page 63 focuses on penalties for illegal kicks and batting the ball.

That is the league rules that I found online as a PDF. If Coach is making an assertion, then he should at least provide evidence.
According to other sources, there is no rule requiring players to stand.
If I am wrong, then I am wrong. Heck, it just needs to be put to rest.

I doubt it. It appears there is no rule. Asserting something without evidence means absolutely nothing.
I never said I agreed with them kneeling, so I don't know what your idiotic comment about liberal views and lies is about. The rule states:
"The National Anthem must be played prior to every NFL game, and all players must be on the sideline for the National Anthem. Failure to be on the field by the start of the National Anthem may result in discipline, such as fines, suspensions, and/or the forfeiture of draft choice(s) for violations of the above, including first offenses."
First, there is NO requirement to stand. It states, "During the National Anthem, players on the field and bench area should stand at attention, face the flag, hold helmets in their left hand, and refrain from talking." The KEYWORD is "SHOULD."
Definition of the word "should:"
1) to express obligation, propriety, or expediency
2) to express what is probable or expected
So, are they OBLIGATED (definition 1) or EXPECTED (definition 2) to stand? The NFL is not specific what "Should stand" means. As such, there is no requirement. Saying someone "should" do something does not mean its a requirement. For example, Shizzo should become a better poster, but it doesn't mean he is required to do so. Shizzo should also eat more vegetables to improve his health, however, he is not required to do so.
Second, it says they "MAY" be fined. Usually when something is required or obligated, there are clear repercussions for violating the obligation. There is not.
The language is vague and there is no indication that there is a REQUIREMENT to stand, since the word "should" is not clearly defined.
-
I'm sure there is. Again, hundreds of millions already lost because of lies by the left.
Oh my fuckin God... what a moron... you have zero credibility at this point.. you have no clue, yet you hope it exists, therefore it exists and those offering evidence it doesn't.. are lying liberals... jesus H Christ...

He did post something above from a players manual or something. However, the "rule" is vague and there is no indication that standing is a requirement. It says players "SHOULD" stand. "Should" can denote many things, from an obligation to an expectation.

Update - The NFL Game Operations Manual DOES state that:
"The National Anthem must be played prior to every NFL game, and all players must be on the sideline for the National Anthem. During the National Anthem, players on the field and bench area should stand at attention, face the flag, hold helmets in their left hand, and refrain from talking. Please note, the meme going around several days ago said it was in the Official NFL Rulebook which is different from the Game Operations Manual. The Rulebook handles the rules of the game. The Game Operations Manual handles how teams and players should conduct themselve
-
The wording leaves a lot of wiggle room. That the teams or the league “may” fine or suspend players doesn’t mean that they have to do so.
Whether you think it’s disrespectful or not, these players have a right to protest the fact that the demographic that commits a disproportionate amout of crime has a higher than average incarceration rate.

In legal writing there is may, shall, will, should... Shall and will are enforceable, Shall and should are not.

This happened in 2009 at the same time that the US military started paying the NFL for advertising. Did you know that the NFL's military appreciation day was paid for by the military?
-
So, basically, all-in-all, there is no requirement that mandates players to stand for the Anthem. The NFL's description is vague with a lot of words such as "Should stand" and "May have fines imposed."
This doesn't sound like a mandate to me.
Now, whether or not its moral or immoral to stand is a different issue. However, from a rule-based perspective, there is no rule that requires a mandate to stand.
Next.
-

Oh, that's interesting.
Like I said, the NFL doesn't care about the military. It really all comes down to money for the NFL. There is no deep appreciation for anything.

2) “I haven't seen American Sniper, but correct me if I'm wrong: An occupier mows down faceless Iraqis but the real victim is his anguished soul.” – Max Blumenthal
3) “Put a man in uniform, preferably a white man, give him a gun, and Americans will worship him. It is a particularly childish trait, of a childlike culture, that insists on anointing all active military members and police officers as ‘heroes.’ The rhetorical sloppiness and intellectual shallowness of affixing such a reverent label to everyone in the military or law enforcement betrays a frightening cultural streak of nationalism, chauvinism, authoritarianism and totalitarianism, but it also makes honest and serious conversations necessary for the maintenance and enhancement of a fragile democracy nearly impossible….” -- David Masciotra at Salon
4) “American fighters of the Pacific War were not heroes. The desperation of island combat included exchanged barbarities of which no one would willingly speak for a generation. On the American side, there were foul racism, vengeful refusals to take prisoners, a generalized brutality that extended to a savage air war.” —James Carrollin the Boston Globe
5) “…(P)erhaps some readers will understand why my friends and I rip yellow ribbon ‘support the troops’ magnets off of cars or wherever people have affixed them. By ripping off these ribbons, we find a way to deal with our guilt, as though with each ribbon swiped we take back a life that was taken by this senseless war started by our senseless president and those who support him.
I will never say, ‘support the troops.’ I don’t believe in the validity of that statement. People say, ‘I don’t support the war, I support the troops’ as though you can actually separate the two. You cannot; the troops are a part of the war, they have become the war and there is no valid dissection of the two. Other people shout with glaring eyes that we should give up our politics, give up our political affiliations in favor of ‘just supporting the troops.’ I wish everything were that easy.” —Thomas Naughton at the Daily Collegian

They actually target them and blow up their studios with impunity….” — Newspaper Guild President Linda Foley
9) “Democrat flaks jump on this like ducks on a June-bug, and in the process themselves reproduce the sick militarism of this culture that automatically valorizes anyone who wears a uniform. It’s called doing penance, John. You don’t bomb and kill people for no reason, even when corporate America or your daddy, who was the supreme commander of Southeast Asian forces, South Pacific forces, orders you to do it. Cam Newton really stuck his foot in his mouth, haha.
With stuff like this, NFL ratings will continue to decrease.
No one wants to hear football players make jokes or talk about politics or social issues. They are their to catch a ball and run with it. End of story.
Stuff like this is why the NFL will continue to lose sponsors and viewers.
Good riddance.

I flipped on Thursday night football to see if they would air the anthem and they didn't. It came back to the game after the anthem. haha. NFL really trying to keep viewership alive lol.

1) “In Vietnam, our soldiers came back and they were reviled as baby killers, in shame and humiliation. It isn’t happening now, but I will tell you, there has never been an [American] army as violent and murderous as our army has been in Iraq.” —Seymour Hersh
6) "Forget bringing the troops home from Iraq. We need to get the troops home from World War II. Can anybody tell me why, in 2009, we still have more than sixty thousand troops in Germany and thirty thousand in Japan? At some point, these people are going to have to learn to rape themselves." – Bill Maher
7) “My uncle killed by sniper in WW2. We were taught snipers were cowards. Will shoot u in the back. Snipers aren’t heroes. And invaders r worse.”— Michael Moore
8) “What outrages me as a representative of journalists is that there’s not more outrage about the number, and the brutality, and the cavalier nature of the U.S. military toward the killing of journalists in Iraq….They target and kill journalists … uh, from other countries, particularly Arab countries like Al -, like Arab news services like Al-Jazeera, for example.
How dare you insult a soldier! Like its some sacred calling instead of an imperial employment program steeped in the culture of machismo and misogyny.(And you can gasp as theatrically as you want… I spent more than two decades wearing a uniform… that is exactly what it is.)” —Stan Goff at the Huffington Post
10) “Is your enemy the state?
Befriend a recruiter and keep your friends close and your enemies closer!…
This campaign is not about (badgering?) recruiters. It is solely about making friends and finding out more about the military that you don’t trust…
Actions to take:…
Prank-call a recruiter to schedule appointments on the other side of town.
Ask a recruiter to pick you up and then tell them you’re hungry.
Ask a recruiter to take you out to eat.” — A flier from Iraq Vets Against the War
11) “THE United States now has a mercenary army. To be sure, our soldiers are hired from within the citizenry, unlike the hated Hessians whom George III recruited to fight against the American Revolutionaries. But like those Hessians, today’s volunteers sign up for some mighty dangerous work largely for wages and benefits….” —David M. Kennedy in the New York Times
