That's funny - I was just watching Generation Iron 2 earlier today. My new baby's mother told me that Rich Piana had blue contacts in.
I didn't get to that audition part and I also thought it was the Dennis Wolf scene from the first one being spoken about. It's funny what you say about Calum - given that from what little I watched of GI2, Frank McGrath said that Calum has no ego earlier in the film. Then immediately Calum and Frank start speaking about the importance of genetics in bodybuilding - at the same time, is it really bad for people like Calum and Frank to have egos? How can you not with genetics like that? Frank was 230 in contest condition and still had a 29" waist - he said that on MuscleMayhem when TA was boasting about having a 29" waist at 160. Again, how can you not have an ego with genetics like that? Calum too.

He is 6-2, looks rugged like Arnold did, can talk like him and is somewhat ambitious like Arnold was. He is probably good with the gals as well.

there isn't a person alive that doesn't have an ego to some degree, its what gets you out of bed and in the shower every morning.

Calum is kind of like the Arnold of this generation. Granted, Arnold is one in a million but Calum is definitely one of the more charismatic/popular bodybuilders today.

I said it a while ago that this new "Classic Physique" class will open a lot of doors for these guys. Right now it's a perfect time with Hollywood being more into the "muscle man" look (the Rock, etc)

He does things differently than Arnold. Maybe a little more laid back, though Arnold was laid back as well. I reckon Calum will be good in this role and I'm looking forward to the interaction of Arnold with Joe and Ben Weider and the old school muscle guys.

It's a Weider biographical film. It's more about them entering the publishing and fitness industry, and the trials they faced in terms of being Jewish, Canadian, etc..... Judging from the names mentioned in the cast I figure most of it will be based in the 1940's - 70's. Von Moger is in bottom 1/3rd of the cast, and the only fitness guys mentioned were the ones I posted with pictures.

In all honesty the only angle I see this movie making any money, is if they went the ultra gay route, and made it about the seedy underworld of the bodybuilding industry, the behind the scenes, sketchy stuff, kind of like a Harvey Wienstein story of the bodybuilding world. Where these brothers controlled the industry, and had the power to make or break careers via magazine spreads, contest placings, supplement endorsements in exchange for sexual favors. And market it to the gay market, I'm sure they have a channel kind of like lifetime channel for women. But I'm sure Dan Solomon is not going to go this route, and is probably doing a rags to riches story, hell even Pain and Gain a movie kind of involving bodybuilding did terrible and it starred the Rock and Mark Wahlburg, this movie has Calum V, what do you think is going to happen at the box office?

This may end up being direct to DVD even though IMDB says ''theaters 2018''. The last movie the director did was Direct to Video and the one prior to that made $754,301 in theaters with a $20,000,000 budget. This isn't a movie expected to keep Hollywood afloat.

Maybe they'll do well off the back end, selling it for cable filler, etc.... I think they were trying early on to pull some of the Mtv audience, as they made a big deal of casting Tyler Hoechlin, who apparently was some big teen star. I don't think it will have enough gravitas to work as an arthouse type film, so it will be interesting to see how it ends up.

Tyler Hoechlin plays the most effeminate, metrosexual Superman ever in the "Supergirl" TV series. I'm ashamed to say I watched most of it after binge-watching all of Daredevil, Luke Cage, Iron Fist, etc., and Supergirl was the dregs left at the bottom of the barrel.
Supergirl is slightly more poorly written than an ABC After-School Special. But that's another topic for another thread.

I've met both Joe and Ben on a few occasions such as dinners, meetings, and as an invited guest within his office where he was proud to show me all of his Remington art pieces.
On each occasion he was more than a perfect gentleman which would make one hell of a boring motion picture script.
Ben appeared to be more intelligent than his brother Joe and spoke on behalf of the IFBB when he proposed that the NPC become associated with the IFBB while Joe remained seated in the background as silent as a rock.
That meeting was probably the most interesting occurrence that I actually witnessed in which both of the Weider brothers were involved which I could personally write about if I were asked to contribute to the script .... but definitely not interesting enough to keep the movie -going audience from falling sound asleep.
The rumors (most of which I believe were possibly untrue) are what would make the script and the movie interesting .... even if they never did in fact occur.
Here are some interesting rumors that most of us had heard about just about the time that the actual event occurred which initiated those rumors: (Nothing real earth shattering here .... Merely 'stuff' that I was personally involved with or personally witnessed or had heard directly from the horse's mouth!)
1. Joe moved his publishing business to the West Coast because he was in arrears with the back-payments that were due to his east coast printers.
2. Zane beat Arnold in that Florida contest because Joe remained in California that weekend.
3. Franco won because it was his turn to win .... or something like that.
4. And Draper's involvement with the IFBB as the original California rep for Weider in the Santa Monica IFBB store.
And it would be interesting to see if the motion picture will include Robinson's initial opinion about Joe as well as Serge Nubret's regards concerning both Joe and Ben.
Most everyone in this game feels that Arnold owes his initial success to Joe and I personally believe that is 100% correct as Joe did a lot on Arnold's behalf when Arnold arrived in the USA.
It will be interesting to see how that is portrayed.

Calum actually seems like a pretty decent guy. I've seen a number of his videos on Youtube and he is pretty level headed and modest. And no doubt the guy is a great bodybuilder. Makes perfect sense to have him as Arnold.

can you blame him for not running on the coattails he sorta looks like arnold? has german last name? no!! he is making good money, he is one of the few bbers who makes solid money, travels the world, has new ladies all the time and appears to be in decent health, handsome with an accent, rides motorcycles while in SO CAL. = winning
