Title: Life is hard....
Post by: SF1900 on June 28, 2018, 11:34:16 AM
I was working at Sears and Roebuck for the last 8 years. I was head cashier and seller of merchandise. However, recently I was laid off from work and me and my girlfriend of 2 years separated. Not to mention the transmission on my car is totally shot and I have next to nothing in my bank account to buy a new car.

Any advice?

Too bad you have no mechanical abilities, you would have been better off getting a blue collar job with some sort of skillset.

Absolutely! Leave where you live now.  Come to Tx.  The unemployment rate is lowest it’s probably ever been, if someone here doesn’t have a job it’s because they don’t want one or aren’t physically able.  And these aren’t bull shit jobs either, if you are willing to work you can and will earn 80 to 120 k per year.  Do this for the rest of trumps presidency and save as much as possible then reevaluate what you want to do.

Fridge died, $1200.00 for new one.

Daughter went to S. Korea for school (9K)... Rains it pours, thank god Im a GetBig millionaire.

Don’t let your current situation get you down mate there are plenty good opportunities available

Work for Johnny falcon mowing lawns

Start a homosexual relationship with Vince Goodrum CSN MFT HHP and live off his income while you do housekeeping duties in his new home

Claim to have fallen on hard times and get a fellow Getbigger to ask the rest of getbig for money on your behalf that you promise to pay back at an unspecified point in the future before leaving getbig forever

Catch aids due to dubious activities in rabbit themed attire so you qualify for sick/disability benefits

Best advice that I can give you: try to stay as calm as possible and work on your financial situation (i.e. finding sources of income and a strict budget plan). Best of luck!

You can probably blame Amazon for that. And their jobs suck ass.

How's your credit? Pretty easy to get approved for a cheaper car if it's good.

Dude,  buy a bike, ride to work (you'll get exercise) apply to work at Whole foods, they pay good, get good discount on food, also get bonuses on health markers and optimal blood work. Also apply for a part time job at Chipotle,  free food, good bodybuilding meals, rice/meats/veggies/avocado. Usually theres hot girls that work at both of these locations, on breaks you will get to know them, if you have any game you will eventually hook up with one. Now you have,  job/food/exercise/girlfriend.

I have a sentimental attachment to Sears and really want them to succeed. People in my generation grew with Sears. Getting their catalog was a big thing in our household. I started my home gym at 15 yrs old with their 110lb weight set and their adjustable bench so you could flats and inclines. But damn it's become such a shitty store. Place is always a mess. They don't keep up with stocking the shelves. And you can never find anyone to help you or even a cashier. You often have to stand by the register and try to flag someone down.

Today, after work, I decided to stop by the Windward Mall and their food court. After I went to Sears because I needed to get a new belt and some white T-shirts. Such a shitty selection. The racks were bare and I couldn't even find the size of shirt that I needed. A large v-neck t-shirt. None. The only belts they had were 38 and larger. Didn't have a single 34" belt. So, like I do with most things now. I order off Amazon.

Too bad. It would nice to support a store in your community.

Pretty low bro. Never say that to a person. Ive had a few friends who took that route and it gets to me.

For sf i would say that you need to focus on getting a new job. Even a shitty one so cash comes in and you meet people.

Sears has been sinking for quite awhile.

Were you unaware of this?  ???

The current owner/controlling stockholder (Eddie Lampert) has been bleeding it dry ever since he gained control.

Even before Lampert it was on the way down like the Titanic.  Basically for the last 20+ years.

The lifeboats left awhile back.  Find a life preserver and jump.

Can you help find me a job?
Fudge together a resume and apply with Halliburton or Weatherford.  Remember that any position also comes with a substantial per diem sometimes up to 120 a day.  There’s locations all over Tx, the key is to make sure you save money because it’s a volatile industry but it looks good for a least the next 3 years, which is long enough for you to save some substantial cash.  If you don’t have any luck there pm me and I’ll tell you about some other places to check.

1.) 8 years same place? Put that on you resume find a similar job.
2.) have any skills or passion? take some night classes.
3.) how is your credit? Go you car max or something.
4.) if you don’t have a kid together, forget her, find a new chick.

My advice is to not let these setbacks get you down. Stay positive. There will be more women and other jobs, probably better ones in your future. One time when I was about your age, the axle on my ancient Nash Rambler drooped out in the middle of a busy intersection. I survived, the Nash did not. when that happened, I had no money in the bank either. Somehow everything worked out.

Of course, SF hasn't worked as a cashier for 8 years. We disagree all the time but he's no dummy. I always picture him as one of those career students living off a stipend but what do I know?  He doesn't talk much about his personal life and I really don't know what he does. But it's interesting the advice he's getting if it was true. When I first read his post I thought for sure the wolves here would be all over it.

Does anyone know how I can apply for a job at Caliber Fitness Solutions?

Also, if I work for Caliber Fitness Solutions, does the Christmas bonus include free Kielbasa?

FREEK, Why do you say that AMAZON jobs are bad?

Here in the North Vegas area there is a huge (very huge) Amazon warehouse which I have heard is hireing lots of people.

PELLIUS, Yea, Sears has been going downhill for the past 25+ years and I believe that they are spear-heading the demise of the vast majority of mall type shopping stores/experiences.

What do you think will take over the deserted shopping mall spaces within  the  next five years?

Skating rinks, ice hockey pavilions, gyms, parking lots, etc. ????

PS ... How is the Ala Moana Shopping Center doing? (Sears, Longs, Liberty House, Bubba Gumps,  etc?)

Did the ever build a movie theater there?

the amazon workers work in horrible conditions:
- pissing in plastic bottles
- have to work so long to the break room, that lunch is over when they get there.
- unrealistic targets for work tasks / goals.

educate yourself.

I heard Amazon is going to start hiring delivery drivers. It sounds like sort of along the lines of Uber.
You work independently and when there are packages coming in and need to be delivered in your area you can hop on it. Amazon continues to innovate, grow and dominate.

When I couldn't find a belt and T-shirts my size at Sears I just ordered it on Amazon right there in the mall using my phone. Took me a few minutes and they make it easy to make comparisons with price and brand. I get it tomorrow according to the tracker.

That's in existence already, but in limited areas. I thought about supplementing my income doing it but the pay is crap and it's wear and tear on your vehicle. Plus the work availability isn't good either.

Life must be hard when you don't believe in a higher power. When times get tough, you believe grit, luck or force will get you through life when times are hard. The best your carnal desires are your gods and your moral compass is based on pseudo science, a religion that you don't even know it's a religion. Your lusts are never fulfilled so your always a slave to the rat race left with a feeling of unfulfillment that can't be fixed because you're spiritually dead. You've been lied to and you choose to believe the lie and that comes with consequences.

It's not if you're an athiest.  But if you KNOW that there is a living God that created everything in existence and through grace AND fearing God and keeping his commandments, you will make it to the Kingdom. It's a freeing feeling knowing none of this shit here matters.  It's just a giant test. So whenever I get down, I'm just reminded of that and my role in it all especially as a Hebrew.  Of course, you gentiles can be grafted in as well but there is still order.

You don't go heaven.  The Bible states that. That's some Christiansanity B.S. The bible states Christ is bringing his kingdom HERE on earth. As in he's going to return and wipe out all established governments, take over as King of the earth and rule for a 1000 years.  He will do this with Hebrews as he is a Hebrew. This is what the bible says not this flapping off to heaven bs. That's a crock of shit. There is not rapture. That's bs as well.  Christiansanity doctrine found nowhere in the Bible.

Anyway, if you're not team Christ, you're team Satan, it's as simple as that.  And it's more than just believing (more christian baloney) You need to fear God and keep his Commandments. Study to show yourself approved. repent from your sins. Repent meaning to turn from your sinful ways. Sinning is the transgression of God's Laws.

I'm confused by your statement regarding team Christ. What am I missing?

Among followers of Judaism, Jesus is viewed as having been the most influential, and consequently, the most damaging of all false messiahs. However, since the traditional Jewish belief is that the messiah has not yet come and the Messianic Age is not yet present, the total rejection of Jesus as either messiah or deity has never been a central issue for Judaism.
