...waiting for someone to finish their sets?
When was the last time you asked someone "how many sets do you have left?"
When was the last time you filled a water bottle at the drinking fountain?
When was the last time you asked if you could "work in"?
When was the last time you fucked off?
I feel too old for the gym.

???
-
try training at another hour
-
what's the point of asking someone how many sets they have left? why wouldn't you just come out and say what you mean: 'hey mister, is it my turn yet?'
do something else instead of hanging around like a black cloud, ruining my concentration.

I bought a home set up and love it. Real basic, just a rack for squats. I do bench, military, rows and it has an attachment for pull ups and dips. I still go to the gym, but only on occasion.

Wrong thread, brah.
Thanks for looking out bro, not sure where my head's been lately

I'm 40 and I filled a water bottle at the water fountain and asked if I could work in yesterday. You're never too old for that.

there's absolutely no excuse for filling a water bottle at a fountain
pure-degenerate behavior

I usually go during off peak hours to limit the interaction with people with no gym etiquette. However the other day I was working on cable rows when a 50 year old lady walks up with a piece of paper in her hand and I immediately knew she was new to working out. Apparently her "trainer" had shown her how to use this machine, so she was clueless she was standing next to 4 other machines that do the EXACT SAME THING when she asked me how much longer I would be. I just said "One of us could use that machine there, since it does the exact same thing as this one, and since I'm already using this one, I think it should be you. Does that work for you?" She got the hint. I can't recall a time when I bothered anyone during their sets unless they were on the phone sitting on a machine I wanted.

Simple solution. If he’s holding up the rack, taking his time and not letting you work in, work in. I swear to God the newbies of today no NOTHING about gym edicate. Sometimes they need to learn the hard way.

I can't believe how many leave plates on everything they use especially the hack and leg press! My OCD kicks in and I begin racking everything because it drives me nuts. Signs everywhere about phone use and re racking but the snowflakes can't read.

If they say "I got one set left" it's worth it to hang around for a couple minutes, if they say "yeah I'm just getting started" probably better to find a different exercise to do
Also not sure what the issue is with filling a water bottle up ???

You probably stand ten feet away huh?

I'm not changing my training up because some douche is too fucking lazy and inconsiderate to let me work in. Should be common gym etiquette.

lazy ???
You're the one breaking my concentration. How am I supposed to get a mind muscle connection when you want me to shuffle the weights every thirty seconds?
Go away.

Lighten up man, it's not a big deal

1. Why would you need a water bottle at the weight room?
2. Why wouldnt you fill it up before coming to the gym?

Says who? You might be an oblivious to me, but your presence weighs on me like an extra set of plates on a bar.
Have some consideration.

Now you're just trolling

You're dehydrated after a few bench presses? Why not walk over to the water fountain and get a drink? You can shave 30 seconds off of your cool down.

Sometimes the best gym is a home gym. The music is always what I like and no waiting on machines. Then again finding the right commercial gym is hard. The one I lift at has a great atmosphere. It's hard core yet it has a lot of old people working out. The owner keeps it a friendly place. You have chalk flying in the dead lift area and 80 year olds with 10lbs dumbbells in another corner.

What "presence"? There will be other people in the gym, sometimes even near you. If this has much effect as you claim, I suggest you seek professional help.

"Hi how many sets do you have?"
*Sits in peripheral vision fiddling on phone, glancing up from time to time*
!= Unacknowledged passerby
It's a presence, bro.

Maybe you just don't train hard enough.

Never. Just because someone pukes in a weight room or on a field doesn't mean they train hard. It usually means they're either deconditioned, ate too much and too soon before training, ate nothing at all and/or dehydration. There are more reasons but those are the most common.

Guess there is a good reason for the water bottle after all, I stand corrected
