I remember him when he worked at a video store in Manhattan Beach. He had a kind of frantic personality but he knew his movies. I got the impression that all he did was watch movies.
At the time I felt kind of sorry for him because he had this vast knowledge about something he
couldn't make a living at. He did talk about making movies and so on, like so many others did.
I figure he'll be working there, get promoted to manager, and then just hang on for years hoping
for that big break.
When Reservoir Dogs came out (loved that movie) I didn't even know he was the one the wrote and produced the film. I never knew his last name and would always forget his first name. It's only when I saw his picture on TV that I realized it was the same guy.
Who's the loser now? LOL! I'm suddenly losing the will to live....

The guy was kind of like Rainman. Never stopped talking and always seemed hyper.
I also remember when I was living in Inglewood I saw Snoop Dogg and his crew selling tapes out of the trunk of his car. They called themselves the 213 since they were from Long Beach. I remember him being so sleazy looking. So tall and skinny with these long fingers along with that nanny goat beard. He reminded me of a giant Praying Mantis. I thought for sure most of his adult life would be spent in jail.

I determine worth by a single metric – benefit to humanity.

That is a great metric of worth. So let's look at this more closely. When something or someone is successful, let's take Walmart for example, they make a lot of money. They make a lot of money because they provide something that people want and like. When people get what they want and like it is a direct benefit to them. It doesn't matter if Walmart cares about a people's well being but providing them with something they like and want also makes Walmart better off. When a business is successful by making a lot of money they are not only providing other people with goods and services they want and need but they also provide jobs. They provide a means for people to feed, clothe and shelter themselves and their families. They provide "a benefit to society". Since many of Tarantino's movies are so popular it meant that it brought entertainment and joy to other people's lives and it provided jobs and a means of support to so many people in the industry. They are better off. They have experienced a benefit.

I am considering the larger picture. You may think being entertained is insidious but nobody else does and I really don't think you are being honest. There is nothing in life that you do because you like to do it. You don't listen to music, or watch comedies that make you laugh, play a sport? And again, Tarantino's movies provided jobs and wealth to many in the industry which allows them to support themselves and their families and acquire things they want and need to increase their quality of life.

Well, according to the bible yes. It's part of the pile of info that caused me to doubt it in the first place.
According to Moses (Or whoever was the real author of this particular scripture) God told him that you can beat your male of female slave with a rod. If the slave dies, you will be punished, but if the slave recovers it is fine because the slave is your property. Now some will embarrass themselves tripping over trying to explain how a god could allow such a law and view but it really comes down to this;
Either a God, who created humans and considers them his Children, made a rule that allows for another human to beat a slave within an inch of their lives or
Slave owning men authored that portion of the bible to fit their belief.
For me it is a no brainer.
