Actually, it's the most important measure because it will determine whether or not it will exist at all.
When something or someone is successful it means that they are supplying a good or service that people want or need -- and are willing to pay for. The way people let a producer know they want and like their product is by purchasing it. If nobody buys it then it will drop out of the marketplace.

When a business like Walmart, or an item like an iPhone, or a service like a movie makes a lot of money it means that a lot of people like, want or need that good or service. You, personally, may
not think it is an important measure of worth but it is certainly the most popular and most used measure of worth. And it is indeed a measure of worth "by any measure".

I would be interested to know what measure you would use to determine whether or not a movie
is garbage or not.  

An example  is people saying Journey sucked... sure.. if you want to jump on the anti popular train to be cool.. yeah.. but album sales and radio play indicates you are ignorant.. a rebel? Maybe, but ignorant nonetheless.

I am considering the larger picture. You may think being entertained is insidious but nobody else does and I really don't think you are being honest. There is nothing in life that you do because you like to do it. You don't listen to music, or watch comedies that make you laugh, play a sport? And again, Tarantino's movies provided jobs and wealth to many in the industry which allows them to support themselves and their families and acquire things they want and need to increase their quality of life. 

To compare cancer cells killing your body with entertainment is just bizarre. What is witnessing or experiencing something entertaining killing?

Truly hated both of those movies.His movies are just so strange I think his drug use has a lot to with it.Hoolywood thinks weird and quirky is cool but to me it’s just fucking crazy.

I appreciate that he stepped outside the typical hollywood movie look. I thought it worked well with Pulp Fiction, not so much with some others.
