Nurse fired for dressing up like Beyoncé
Shelbi Elliott-Heenan, a nurse at a hospital near Kansas City, Missouri, was terminated from her position after a photo circulated online of her in blackface dressed as Beyoncé for a Halloween costume.
Heenan posted a photo on Facebook of herself, in blackface, dressed in a black top and silver skirt standing next to a man dressed in a white t-shirt, a black vest, and jeans. Heenan captioned the photo, “Jay Z & Beyoncé” with the microphone emoji.

I dont see the big deal. If a black person dressed as Madonna and painted their face white. Nothing would have been said
-
Jimmy Kimmel spoke on this:
-
This is why social media is stupid. You’re just narcing on yourself.
-
The guy who did the video is a truly woke fellow who is not in the back pockets of the liberals and wannabe social justice warriors. As an aside, I think more black people are becoming aware that the Democrats do not really give a rats ass about them and only use black folk for votes. Trump can get a significant shift and the Dems would be history.
-
Shit’s outta hand.
-
;D
-
No surprise there, it’s ridiculous
-
Already spoke about this...

You dumbfucks may get it one day not to dress in blackface. This isn't 1966.

Wiggs pray tell, just what is so offensive about it?

The more it offends, the more we’ll do it, ‘tard.
P.S. I’m assuming the woman didn’t brush her teeth for several days to better approximate Beyoncé’s rancid breath?

While I do get what you’re saying, I believe there is a difference between dressing up as someone else at Halloween and “blackface”. Had she been carrying watermelon and kool aid I would wholeheartedly agree.

Says the dumbfuck racist who misappropriates the culture of Israel as his own. Fuck off. As for BeOnce?
She is forever trying to look like a blond white woman. WTF?

Exactly. A black person is black. As i said if a black person would paint their face white nobody would say a word about it
-
Vince? Did you go as Kunta Kinte?
-
Hey Judy, could you come over here and explain why Blackface isn't appropriate....
-
Next year, I might do blackface.
Run around the neighbourhood proclaiming “I dindu nuffin’!”
Score a point for each snowflake I offend.
-
In the grand scheme this isn't really a big deal but that's a tremendous lack of judgement on the part of the nurse here. She knew--or should have known--how her employer would react.
-
Good one, Lester Holt. That's white woman Susan Boyle and no offense is taken. It's a free country.

The rules for blacks & whites are ..... different. It's not fair, and you can complain all you want, but that's just the way it is.

This is the truth. That costume would've got you the fish eye from people 25 years ago, let alone in 2018.
-
I think white folks should coordinate to wear blackface on a specific day. You know, to get the Dindus all hooting and hollering.
Wait, they already do this, incessantly.
-
Everything that offends me in 2018 should be illegal.
-
If any child came by trick or treating dressed in black face I would probably give them ALL the candy I had.

Well, he’d be white, right, so little chance of that.

True.

Trick or Treat was a couple days ago so you missed it.

if she's a beyonce fan, as the morons say, then what the hell is her boyfriend? So I'm going to dress up in black paint like seal and say i'm actually persia white.

Yeah it takes a black face on Halloween to look like this black woman.

Here's a kid dressing as Flojo. Its amazing kids don't have the same demons in them as adults. I guess it didn't cross her mind that she needed a bucket of black paint.

That's fine and dandy while youre in McFuckville, Ireland or whatever limey country you hail from.

No matter what one believes, it was clearly bad judgment on part of the nurse.
I am not saying I agree or disagree with the hospital's decisions.
What I am saying is that society has set up certain standards and modes of behaving.
If you don't adapt to those standards, whether I or you disagree with them, you may or may not suffer harsh consequences.
It's crazy to think that a specific way of behaving, even if you don't think it's anything bad, can get someone fired based on how a person or group subjectively feels.
