Title: Pro-Smoking Forum
Post by: SF1900 on December 15, 2018, 09:30:09 AM
I do not understand this. These people justify smoking, indicating that "all" of the science linking smoking to a variety of diseases, is bunk. Can you imagine the amount of denial to convince oneself that smoking is "okay" for you.

Some of these people are proud to be heavy chain smokers:

"I am a heavy smoker and love my addiction! Does anyone else feel this way? If so ho much and how long have you been smoking and do you still enjoy it as much as I do? In fact, the more I smoke the more I enjoy it! Have been increasing for some time and am near my target of 60 a day. What about you folks?"

"I became a heavy chainsmoker years ago its the best the endless smoking chaining etc Im 2+ packs a day sometimes 3 on days off once in a while a few into 4th pack"

"Hi, 60 a day, hsd to ct down from 80+aday due to taxz, Still have days when I can suck down 4+ ppd! Love it so much"

"Heavy smoking is the best. Lately I've been hitting the 3 packs a day mark.I smoke not just for addiction but also for pleasure."

"I get up really early before the rest of the town. I usually smoke 5-6 in the first hour I'm awake with deep dark coffee. On a day off, this might go on for the whole morning and a whole pack before noon. I passed the 1 pack a day "milestone" at 14 smoking Camel Lights."

"Hi all! Newbie on here. Just wanted to say I love smoking and wouldn’t trade my Salem Menthol 100s FF (yes, I’m a menthol man, lol) for anything.. I absolutely love them and can’t get enough! I’m in the process of increasing my ppd amount. I’m at 1.5-2 but am striving for 2+. I chainsmoke whenever I can. Anyway, A Smoking Merry Christmas to all!"

Lots of people out there with weak minds.  They NEED their vices and often ignore the health risks.  Nicotine is very addictive.

I can understand cigar/pipe smoking and appreciating the flavor, but inhaling cigarette smoke is fucking absurd.

They probably feel backed into a corner with all the new rules and regulations against smokers.  The forum is a way to bond together.

According to the studies showing the declining test rates in men he does.

I never smoked but am aggravated by the constant anti-smoking commercials with diseased and dying people on my screen.  Smoking takes decades to kill a person but heroin, meth and other street drugs can kill you quick but we have cable channels like Viceland that advocates drug use. ::)

Quoted for truth. Smoking is a serious risk to health but of course there are people that live to 80 who have smoked for 65 years. It doesn't change the fact that it's a serious risk to health. Steroid guys are found of saying they know a guy that has cycled on and over for 40 years. Since using steroids is such an underground thing there are no definitive long range studies with a large control group. All we know is empirical knowledge of all the heart attacks, strokes, enlarged prostates, kidney, liver problems among long term steroid users. It's rationalized away as genetics. Don't get me started on the other bodybuilding drugs like clomid and its tie to brain cancer like Clomid. Insulin use and diabetes. Growth hormone, diuretics, anti estorgens, speed, pain killers and all the other crap some bodybuilders take. Having said this I really don't care who uses steroids. Just don't expect me to be in awe of your drug induced temporary condition. Explain to me your expertise in bodybuilding 6 months clean.

It's just unhealthy, especially with the tobacco getting "enriched" by various chemicals. My father worked in a cigarette factory and the change from the 40's to the modern cigarette was nothing short of "breath-taking".
Old style cigarettes had organic additives while in modern cigarettes it's all artifical scam.

Btw, the factory brought a lot of riches and was "of course" sold off to the British and then to the Japanese.

My 68 year old sister has been smoking for 50 years.

She looks haggard, has greenish/gray teeth, a hacking cough, and gravely voice.

No doubt she will have a miserable end but you can't tell her to quit.

A true addict.

Yes, cigarette smoking is long-term physically very bad for you.

But I think western society today would be a bit saner and everyday life less fraught,if people still cheerfully sat down with strangers or political opponents and broke the ice with some booze and tobacco.

FWIW, smoking is still huge in China.

I assume you are putting me in this group.  I don't smoke and never have I am just annoyed at the constant barrage of ads demonizing smoking when there are much worse habits that seem to be promoted by the same advertisers.

There are many things that people do for enjoyment that are not good for them. I've never smoked and encourage others not to as well but for many, it's a way to deal with stress, a real killer. I would rather have them smoke cigs that drink liquor or smoke pot. When you look at the damage done by alcohol to themselves and to society it doesn't compare to the damage done by smoking.

It's all about abuse versus moderation. I would argue that the most abused substance in our society is food. Heart disease is the number one killer and so much of that is related to just being fat and eating too much.

What are you going to do? Pass a law? All you can do is just educate people and let them decide. Everyone knows smoking is bad for you. A guy I worked with just had a near-death experience related to decades of smoking. The doctor told him he absolutely has to stop smoking as he's at a stage where it's killing him. He stopped for about two weeks but just the other day I saw him outside puffing away. I looked at him and shook my head. He just shrugged his shoulders and said, "I'm going to die anyway."

He's near 70 years old but looks older. Very skinny and frail looking. I guess he figures he doesn't have much longer on this earth and how much extra years would quitting smoking add. Years, that he doesn't seem to be enjoying now since he has a host of health problems. I guess he might as well do one of the few things he has left to enjoy in life.

I’m glad to say that I never tried a cigarette or drugs, and have maybe had 5-6 beers in the last one year time period. Of course I could still die at any moment, but at least I’m reducing the chances somewhat.

I know 3 people, 2 between 55-60 years old and 1 around 80 that got lung cancer. They all smoked for well over 30 years. All still alive. One of them is my uncle and he had half of his lungs removed. The other 2 are undergoing treatment.

Some people are addicts and can't quit.
