I’d say January 1993 musclemag best arm cover ever,it’s a double bicep but the best one I’ve seen on a mag.Mike matarazzo and some chick.
I don’t know how to link or post pics and it’s not single arm just impressive.

This is my favorite.

That Draper cover takes me back. As a kid Weider headquarters was in Union city, NJ my home for my first 27 years. They used to give me stacks of expired magazines when I was a kid.
-
You guys are crazy that matarazzo pic blows Robby’s pic out of the water.

i was getting ready for the Canadian nationals that year and all of a sudden Matarazzo and Dillet were all over the mags with 23+ inch arms.
i was like 'how in the fuk is this possible???'

I remember reading all that as well and then I saw a video a few years ago of matarazzo talking about a show he did two weeks prior and that his arms measured 21.5” that day weighing 280 or so so not sure if just hype or whatever but either way those are the biggest 21.5s I’ve seen or the biggest 23s I’ve seen.dillet I’m sure had legit 23s.
Also hazbin, you had him on the crazy vascularity freak factor which is pretty awesome.

thanks bro. arm size does not correlate to visual impressiveness most times. the guys with the biggest arms also have the biggest wrists and elbows. Robbie's 18 inch arms were triple his 6 inch wrists. with 8 inch wrists my arms would have had to get to 24 to be the same proportion. and they weren't

its not just robbie its the layout of that photo with the black and yellow that makes it looks so awesome IMO

the old clancy ross ad

it's easy to see those old ads and laugh with their claims of quick muscle...
but then you see threads like feeder workouts and people with 30+ years of training jumps all over it thinking theyve discovered something...

Matarazzo looks insane on that cover. If Matarazzo had wide flaring lats, he could have been Mr. O.

Yeah I bet,he looked ridiculous in all pics. The only pic he didn’t look huge in is one standing next to Lou.which is weird cause I feel he was way bigger than Lou.

Musclemag was the best one

Musclemag was the best one
i bought them monthly from about 1999 to 2003 - i knew what day they came out! i was a teenage schmoe haha.
-
yup, musclemag was always the best, jonny fitness had the best contest reviews, unbiased and true. ie he thought Shawn should have beat Dorian in 1994.
I was buying them from 1991 or so onwards.

stacey lynn and trish stratus where my golden honeys. i was born in 1983 so right around 2000 i was 17 and those girls were in all the mags.
also frank sepe was like WTF! dudes look like that - he and mike o hearn where 2 guys who got into training.
i loved musclemag first section. it was gear, training, sex etc etc - i remember reading about chris clark and pump N pose - lol mind blown as a kid.
they used to advertise the female wrestling videos in there. also man.... i really loved American Muscle on ESPN.
whenever i see tito raymond at golds i always tell him and adi rae were big inspirations to me.

I told you motherfuckers this thread is closed. It will not be revisited. Every other cover photo of an arm shot doesn't even exist compared to this 41 year old cover photo. The end. Class dismissed.

I remember the classifieds from Muscle Mag had bodybuilders you could hire to "wrestle" with you. I could figure out even at a young age that the women on top of the guy straddling his face was something sexual going on but was naive enough to wonder why you would hire some guy for that. :-[

I have a hard time believing that I have seen them all over

yeah but this was back in like 1991. Most gays were still in the closet then lol

The early ('74?) Musclemag had a weird ass feature on the last page. It was some dude posing naked and I think it was called "All Of Us". Kennedy was a bit odd at times and thought he was being artisitic but I think he was just catering to homosexuals. I had gotten the magazine and sent in my subscription card (it had to go all the way to Canada) and then read the magazine from front to back and then I saw that last page...
Seeing that, I wasn't so certain I wanted that magazine but if I recall correctly, it was only six issues a year at the time.. I would up reading mostly Ironman and Muscle Builder/Power with the former being more content driven and the latter being ego (i.e., Weider) driven.
Kennedy used to promote the more Steve Reeves type of physique and one time featured some hilarious looking dude named Wifried Dubbels on the cover and within the pages. Kennedy claimed to not much care for heavily muscled physiques but later came out with that stupid back page photo shot, "Beef It!". That was Cirque du SoGhey.

I threw out all my magazines but I kept Rader's. I have issues from the 60's, 70's and 80's. I should read them again. They sit pristine in a giant Tupperware container. Wish I kept my early Weider mags but I threw them out almost embarrassed by how many I accumulated from when I was 8 years old to a young adult. My now wife confesses now she was really shocked how into lifting and magazines I was in my early twenties. Her four brothers were into baseball, football and basketball. She was never exposed to any male in her life that was remotely interested in a sport of tanned oiled up men in speedos posing to music. ;D Now through the eyes of a man and not a kid I understand what bodybuilding is. It's a sport based on drug use. Without drugs the sport would be a hidden subculture. There is not one pro that would look remotely like they look on stage without the assist. I bet Larry Scott no matter how much he lifted wouldn't have weighed over 175lbs without drugs. Zane maybe 170lbs. I could go on.

Yes, I threw out all my muscle mags from the 80's and 90's over a decade ago when I became a minimalist and got rid of all my junk. I had hundreds of mags and for years believed the nonsense as well. Peary Radar's articles actually worked for natties although they had an element of bullshit as well. Ironman's programs were much more sensible to follow though and Radar himself made a great transformation in physique with some of the worst genetics for bodybuilding ever.
