I'm just going to do what everyone else does which has nothing to do with diet or training. I'm just going to take a bunch of lasix and potassium every day until all of the water is out me...oh, I guess there is some diet involved, I'll cut all my sodium. I figure if I keep on the 5grms of steroids I should be just fine size wise come the day of the show. Sound like a plan?

Yes actually.
That said, I fear for your health.

Don't let getbiggers get the best of you. You've worked too hard. Getting too worked up can lead to a cortisol spike which in turn can smooth you out. I think at this stage, with all the work you've put in, you should sequester yourself with nothing buy fox news and the gym. Turn fox off from 3-4 because we wouldn't want Shep Smith to talk any sense into you.
-
I actually was going to start a thread on this. Has there been anyone that actually looked dramatically better by doing this shit? I mean why not just get as shredded as possible and not have to roll the dice on some science experiment. Also why the fuck would a bikini competitor have to implement a "peak week" I see these girls saying "it's my peak week" I'm trying to understand why?
-
You diet off protein shakes and snacks, that’s what hazbin did for one of his shows

Not sure if this qualifies as peak week, but this is 2 weeks out and night of transition. I did a shit load of cardio the last 2 weeks, did nothing about sodium, decreased my protein in half the last 3 days, cut my water 9 pm night prior to the show, had zero fluids until after prejudging, even after prejudging just had a few sips of water here and there.

We rarely agree but this certainly is an exception.

Much like myself. :-\
Damn, I have a bad habit of that.
-

Lol, I post about shit I have experienced or have some knowledge in. The subject is peak week right? I've prepped for some shows, so I have some experience with peak week and most people end up looking way worse.

Good post and looking ripped and full in the posted pics.
I wish more bodybuilders would read your contest prep and refrain from risky diuretics like Lasix.
You're either ripped or you need to lose more fat.
Holding water = too fat.

Last few days can be notoriously tricky. This is where the little details really add up and you have to know your body really well to get the best result. A trusted eye who will give you honest feedback is very valuable here as you will have a skewed view of yourself.

I think Piana made a good point in one of his videos about carbing up, he talked about how stupid it is to continue to eat protein. It just fills up your stomach. At that point the muscle should be there so in theory just carbs for a few days up to the show kind of makes sense. He obviously talked about adding insulin as well.

Yes it does sound like a plan. Albeit, not a very healthy one with the exception of reducing your salt intake. But.....any sacrifice it takes to place in the all important bodybuilding competition, right?

It was for Coach you goof! ;)
"Water is just as misunderstood as carbs. The traditional carb and water theories have people drop their water sometimes days before the show. Nothing will flatten and smooth you out faster! You have to maintain a high water intake because your muscle tissue is around 70% water. No water, no hardness - just flat, squishy muscle tissue. The reason people typically start dropping water is because they've over-carbed so much that they're already spilling glycogen and water under the skin and think, "Oh, my gosh!! I've got to get rid of this water!!" With the carb reload as I described, you won't have that problem; you'll actually get harder and harder throughout the week.
REMEMBER:
Keep the water intake up and let it follow the carbs into the muscle! If you're not over-carbed, the rest of the water will be eliminated!
Thursday
Sodium also has to be cycled. Start with a moderate amount of sodium, up to two grams at the beginning of the week and around Thursday start dropping it slightly but don't eliminate it completely. If you do, you'll force water out of the muscle cell, you'll look flat and smooth, and you'll cramp like there's no tomorrow. You need approximately four times more sodium than potassium for your muscles to contract normally. Again, don't let the myths from the pharmaceutically dominated side of our sport lure you into doing things that aren't physiologically correct.
You don't have all those drug side-effects to combat in peaking properly. If you sodium load and/or deplete in a big way you're gambling with extreme chemical rebound effects that you can't possibly time. If you're lucky enough to stumble into a good effect, it will be short lived because you're on a pendulum swing that your body will adjust to and you'll look absolutely lousy in a very short time."

Thanks, Wes, never know who's going to show up, but I'm giving this 110%. let's see if this 56-year-old can give the kids a run for their money. Sucks thought that the Masters class is only one class at 40+. Then the Lt.hvy open :-\

Coach, you know I love you, so please take this question without any assumption of attack.
Lasix can severely deplete potassium, calcium, sodium and magnesium. I know you said you are taking potassium with the lasix, but it's hard to gauge what the balance truly is between how much Potassium mEq's you're putting out as a result of taking lasix versus replenishing with oral potassium supplementation (unless your getting daily metabolic panels via blood draws).
Do you worry about the effects an imbalance in Potassium can do to your heart? You can develop arrhythmias (irregular rhythms of the heart), as well as even die if you have too much or too little potassium running through your system. Not to mention that Lasix use can also affect your sodium & magnesium levels as well, which can also wreak havoc on your body (too little magnesium + sodium can cause seizures amongst other things). Too little calcium can also affect your heart causing low heart rate.
Is this contest or the idea of getting in great physical (not physiological) shape at this stage of your life even that important or worth it?
You're a handsome young man, very successful with your businesses and have great ties to your community. Is that plastic trophy with the associated chump change that comes with it as an award worth your health/life?

One, I appreciate but that post was pure sarcasm because of most saying that bodybuilding is "all drugs". I've been around long enough to avoid diuretics if needed and definitely a loop such as Lasix. As it is now, as of today, no diuretics will be used in this prep. 8)
-
Pretty sure his comment was a sarcastic one.
Aside from the inherent sarcasm in the comment, it's still part of the necessary evils that these guys go through to get in that kind of shape for a mere few hours of stage time.
Extended life with wife + kids > 2-4 hrs of pageantry for schmoes + plastic trophy with amazon gift card.
My comments are merely out of love and care for Coach, who I genuinely respect and appreciate on many levels. I know many stupid professional bodybuilders that unless they were bodybuilding, they would probably be locked up or working hard towards it via the sale of illicit drugs. Coach is not one of them.

I couldn't do it.

Gotcha. What's the lowest you've gone with carbs on this prep?
Right now during the depletion. Right now I’m at 45 and it’s in the form of cabbage and spinach. But during the entire prep I kept them at around 200-250.

Hell yeah, the face says a lot without even showing the physique! Hopefully your wheels were able to stay full and big, that's the only thing I see that deteriorates with age, also triceps. Good luck with the show!

Man, you got that right. They're not what they used to be but I think they're better than average for my age, definitely will be good for the Master's division but will probably be lagging for the open division...we'll see.

Nice progress, good luck.

Yure being nice, obvious the kunt never trained hard in his life, has no muscle and is jealous.
Or 14 years old, only 2 excuses for dumb kunt trollz like that.
LOL!
Miss the days when it was allowed for hackers to expose twats like this and watch them disappear in tears.
Now they are free to troll in anonymity like the cowards that they are.

Camon, Man, you punched a homeless guy over a 2 dollar QP with cheese. Almost got your hand broked
A 60 year old Man behaving like that so you could write a thread in here? Seriously?
-

Or I could be a feminized pussy like you and hand him whatever he demands and then stroke him off for good measure. I consider the fact that I am near sixty and still willing, able and ready to throw hands shows I haven't become a cuck like you and so many other so-called men today.
And the notion that I got into a fight so I could write it on GetBig. Newsflash: unlike you I am not thinking about GetBig 24/7.
BTW, how old are you? You write like a 3rd grader from an inner-city public school.
Spell check. Use it.

I think so many are jealous of you
And you being alpha - What’s age got to do with it.
To many Manginafied Cuckolds on here all to ready to bend over
Rather than Stand Up For What’s Right.

I honestly never imagine beating up a homeless person for harassing you and exposing himself would be the least controversial. I just thought it was a funny story.
-
And he calls himself "Christian". What a disgrace
Lol when nonbelievers tell Christians how to practice a religion they know nothing about.
Christians fight. Deal with it. But it's reassuring to know that I can take anything I want from you if I so chose and you ain't doing shit

It isn’t controversial at all
Just a bunch of yellow bellies & softies whimpering on here.
-
So I guess Coach isn't going to give us a pregame sneak peek. We have to stand in line like everybody else.

There seems to be more and more of them. Instead of throwing ball with their sons they play house and dress them up like girls.

You're not a Christian.

Well, it’s a lock. Last night I won the NPC/IFBB Masters California State Bodybuilding Championship plus taking a 4th in the open class against bodybuilders at least 30 years younger. Needless to say I’m ecstatic and thankful!
