What up GetBiggers... It's been a long time....
I've been busy with work, moving all over the place, having more kids... Life and all that stuff so I haven't had a chance to check in with the Thunderdome (are we still not on Tapatalk? ;D)
So ya'll know I'm notoriously known for being BIG...well... FAT....
well this year I finally said it was time for a change... And I've said that several times in the past, but I really wanted to do it this time and wanted to do it different.
In the past when I competed it was always low to no carbs and that's no way to live. So I watched a ton of Layne Norton videos and voila... Following his principles, eating low fat ice cream almost every single night of the week.
Started at just under 260 lbs and a 40 in waist in January, and this morning I was 211.6 lbs and a 34 in waist.
Grey shirt is from today. Pic in the tank top was actually a few weeks ago at 218 lbs.

Someone asked me about diet guidelines essentially I've been following close to a 40/40/20 split (protein, carbs, fats). It fluctuates though every few days, some days my carbs are higher some days my proteins are higher.. calories are 2,000 on work out days (5 days a week), 1800 non-work out days (two days a week), cardio 30 mins high intensity 6 days a week.
I allow myself to eat whatever I want as long as it fits in the above breakdown. But "healthier foods" tend to fill me up more so I stick to that more often.

It pretty much is the Adonis diet, but a few more constraints added in. To be honest I don't remember the full details about the Adonis principles nitty gritty but i do recall the strong argument you made for the calorie control. That is what I focus on more than anything else.
And btw the only reason I eat low fat ice cream is to keep the calories down... So I can eat more of it ;D Halo Top is amaaaazing....
It still baffles me that I was able to lose this much weight while still eating 200+ g of carbs. Should've listened to you from day 1 lolll

2000 cals per day is not a lot. Do you have a typical meal breakdown? What's for breakfast? 5 x 400 cals per meal would get you there. But it is really easy to eat more than 400 cals. per sitting. If you went with full fat ice cream you would easily get to 2000 cals and have to starve the rest of the day or do more cardio to compensate.
I burn about 400-500 calories in a 30 minute cardio session. If you are doing the same plus more with your weight training I can see how 2000 calories per day would lead to dramatic weight loss. You are probably burning 2000 cals per day just walking around and sleeping.

I'm doing a weight cut too. I myself was 213-lb [nothing like BIG ACH's conditioning], and dropped to 180-lb using starvation intermittent fasting. I want to see how close to 160-lb I can get before I cleanly bulk back up to 175-lb.
Beyond 185-lb, all the weight goes to my waist. I also fear for my health at heavier weights.

4 oz chicken breast
3 Cheddar rice cakes

I also mix benefiber with my diet soda
Meal 4 4:30 pm (280 calories)
2 scoops protein shake
Meal 5 7:00 pm (730 calories)
3.5 oz chicken breast
Veggie made pasta (made from zucchini) with marinara sauce
Broccoli
Halo top ice cream
This is my typical diet during the week... just easier to manage on work days and in the office and stuff. On weekends the die can be quite different but within the same caloric constraints. I'm pretty deligent about weighing my food - even the ice cream lol

My protein fluctuates now between 200 - 225 g
Sometimes 130 - 150 g on my days off, but it's extremely rare that I'd go over 225 now, that's over 2.8 g per lean kg which is really more than optimal.

I have to diet. Always had a strict work ethic for working out and that was great in my youth. Zero discipline diet wise. Now I'm getting older and the pounds keep coming. Not that I'm fat and sloppy but I'm not where I want to be. 190lbs at 5'8" and I look my best around 170-175lbs.

I was good eating what ever I wanted till I hit 50. Now I'm in my 60's and if I have a couple of beers on the weekend (ok, I lied. A lot of beer) I can see it on Monday.

Not quite.... It actually took A LOT of effort to get that fat in my early 20s ... I thought I was "bulking up" in a good way putting down 4,000 to 5,000 calories and trying to emulate Lee Priest, but I was still able to diet down 50 to 70 lbs whenever I competed.... As I got older i just stayed that way and then it really got harder to diet down.
So I think it came time for a lifestyle change.

I really was a fat fucking cow and a half lol... But I can honestly say in most of my 20's I really was not as fat as I am in those pictures all the time.... even when I wasn't competing.... I wasn't super lean or anything but that picture specifically was really at the Pinnacle of my fatness...(my 30's were a different story... I was fat a lot in my 30's :-D)....it really took me a lot of work to turn myself into a fucking cow.
The thing is, growing up, I was not one of those kids who was all chunky and had to battle weight as the fat kid on the playground, on the contrary I was skin and bones.... But I got myself this fat because I thought that was the only way I could put on muscle effectively and get stronger... I didn't believe in a clean bulk... And when I started to believe in it I started to make excuses and was just too lazy and not disciplined to change. I guess I was in denial about it. Anyways. I don't regret getting so fat... But I wonder all the time how things would've been now, if I had just stayed at my current weight and bf through out the years instead of yo-yoing so much.

Thanksb so much...I'm in Florida now yes... I had moved out to California for a couple of years but found my way back East as my company has a major site out here as well.
With respect to my work outs, I train for about 1 and a half hours first thing in the morning. 5 days a week.
I start off with 30 minutes HIIT cardio on the elliptical then an hour or somedays an hour and 15 mins with the weights.
I don't do as much free weights as I used to, definitely spend much more time on machines, this is primarily to avoid injury. I do two to three exercises per muscle group with about 6-8 sets each and a combination of light and heavy (for me) sets.
My split is typically like this:
Sunday - Legs:
Leg press
Leg Extensions or outer thigh machine
Stiff legged deadlift on the Smith machine
Monday - Off
My first meeting every Monday is at 6 am, this is typically one of my busiest days of the week so I just take it off completely from the gym
Tuesday - Chest
Machine bench press
Pec Dec
Hammer strength incline press
Wednesday - Back
Wide grip lat pull downs
Seated rows... I change it up every few week, sometimes close grip sometimes wide
Straight arm pill downs or shrugs
Thursday - Shoulders
Machine shoulder press
Seated lateral raises machine
Hammer Strength shoulder presses
Friday - Arms
Seated alternating curls cable machine
Preacher curls machine
(Somedays I will do a few dumbbell curls too)
Tricep extensions/push downs
Overhead tricep machine (when I'm not injured, which I currently am)
Saturday - Cardio only.
I'll do my normal HIIT on the elliptical and if I'm up for it somedays I'll also add in another 30 mins fast walk on the treadmill at a very e steep incline.

Too many guys like the perma bulker look so I know what you mean. Looking big in a shirt like a power lifter is one thing. Taking the shirt off is another. When I'm really lean I feel small. I look small in clothes but look really good with the shirt off. When I'm "big" I look good in clothes but who am I kidding? What only matters is how you really look and the perma bulker body is just a fat body.

I've been busy with work, moving all over the place, having more kids... Life and all that stuff so I haven't had a chance to check in with the Thunderdome (are we still not on Tapatalk? ;D)
So ya'll know I'm notoriously known for being BIG...well... FAT....
well this year I finally said it was time for a change... And I've said that several times in the past, but I really wanted to do it this time and wanted to do it different.
In the past when I competed it was always low to no carbs and that's no way to live. So I watched a ton of Layne Norton videos and voila... Following his principles, eating low fat ice cream almost every single night of the week.
Started at just under 260 lbs and a 40 in waist in January, and this morning I was 211.6 lbs and a 34 in waist.
Grey shirt is from today. Pic in the tank top was actually a few weeks ago at 218 lbs.

My routine is as follows...
I get up everyday at 430 am and go work out, I do so on an empty stomach (I know blasphemy) and drink NO Xplode during my work out.
Meal 1 (Post Work out) (280 calories)
2 scoops protein shake
5 g creatine
Meal 2 10:30 am (260 calories)
1 RTD protein shake
2 caramel rice cakes
Meal 3 12:30 pm (475 calories)
4 oz chicken breast
3 Cheddar rice cakes
3 caramel rice cakes
I also mix benefiber with my diet soda
Meal 4 4:30 pm (280 calories)
2 scoops protein shake
Meal 5 7:00 pm (730 calories)
3.5 oz chicken breast
Veggie made pasta (made from zucchini) with marinara sauce
Broccoli
Halo top ice cream
This is my typical diet during the week... just easier to manage on work days and in the office and stuff. On weekends the die can be quite different but within the same caloric constraints. I'm pretty deligent about weighing my food - even the ice cream lol

True. I cut from a permabulker 248, 203 this morning. Look smaller with clothes on but underneath is a different story. The only way to get that look is on gear.
