Being a Spur fan, I've been a fan since San Antonio picked him up from Indiana on a trade. I've never seen a guy from what I thought would be average offense and good defense to great offense and great defense. You usually spot that earlier but He's consistently worked on all aspects of his game and in the conversation as best in the league with Durant, Lebron and Curry. He's already been a Finals MVP and won a ring early in his career with the Spurs and 2 defensive player of the year awards but he wasn't the Kawhi we see now. Whether he wins or loses against Golden State he's obviously still a great player for what he's done this year but if somehow he won? We'd have to start evaluating him against Lebron because they're 1-1 against each other in the finals.

Closest thing ive seen to 96-98 jordan.yes, this version of kawhi is better than any playoff version of kobe.

When the Milwaukee Bucks were up 2-0, I did not think that the Raptors stood a chance at coming back. Obviously that was an assumption that Kawhi proved to be wrong.

The last time I followed the nba (years) leanard was the 2-3 option on an old spurs team, albeit an all nba defensive caliber player.

The only fault I can find in Kawhi Leonard is that he doesn't pass enough. His career assist numbers are poor. I watched him a lot when he was with the Spurs and the dude just didn't pass the ball even when he had open teammates.

Kobe was great, but he's created a reinvention of history that he was a great leader and teammate. Don't forget he was leaving LA and headed to Chicago until Dr. Buss pulled off the Pau trade (even better there was an agreed upon package to send him to Detroit that Kobe nix).

He was the initiator of the offense. Shaq would get tired at the end of games and also he was a liability in crunch time because he was an awful free throw shooter. The end of the game was Kobe time. He was the closer. Neither of these two guys was a sidekick. Not by any stretch of the imagination. Take either one of them away and the team crashes and burns.

Game 7, everyone was playing desperate. Kobe didn't shoot well but he got the the free throw line 15 times in that game. He finished with 23 points and an insane 15 rebounds. The entire Celtics team shot only 40% in that game. Most importantly, the Lakers found a way to win that game and with it the Championship.
