Kobe was great,  but he's created a reinvention of history that he was a great leader and teammate. Don't forget he was leaving LA and headed to Chicago until Dr. Buss pulled off the Pau trade (even better there was an agreed upon package to send him to Detroit that Kobe nix).

Neither of these two guys was a sidekick.  Not by any stretch of the imagination.  Take either one of them away and the team crashes and burns.

Believe it or not I watched game 7.

He also had 4 turnovers in a 4 point game, more than anyone else. Everyone shot horrendously that game, Pierce 5/15, Allen 3/14, Pau 6/16. If the Lakers lost, kobe's shooting would be the narrative. You know why no one talks about Pau, Ray Allen, or Peirce's woeful percentages because they weren't the best player in the league. If you think Kobe had a good game 7 than we just have different ideas of what good is. Bottom line he won.
